I saw the chargers signed Tyrod Taylor for 2 years 10 mil. I’ve always felt like he was the perfect backup. Good enough to come in when you’re in a bind, and good enough to start a few games and not put you in a giant hole like Rush or White would.

how dare you

That's because our team is ran by a bunch of fucking morons.

So I guess you’re just not going acknowledge the fact that he was hurt for basically the entire year. Got it. If you wanna say this team is run by a bunch of morons, don’t say it’s because a guy can’t stay healthy lol. That’s just ridiculous.

Championship...

Cowboys signed DL Christian Covington, formerly of the Texans, to a one-year contract.

A sixth-round pick in 2015, Covington stuck around Houston for four seasons as a rotational lineman. He will likely be asked to fill the same role in Dallas

He may even get almost as many touches as secret weapon Tavon Austin.

Seems like Tre Boston makes a ton of sense. So it's a toss up if we actually sign him.

Quote

The first week of free agency is coming to a close and the Dallas Cowboys signed one notable player, defensive tackle Christian Covington. But hey, that’s one more than they signed last year at this time as players like Allen Hurns, Cameron Fleming, Joe Thomas, Deonte Thompson, and Marcus Martin didn’t agree to deals until the second week of action. Most of the big names are off the board as we now turn to the second wave of free agency. This is when we are more likely to see the Cowboys sign players as they continue to fill holes so they don’t have any glaring needs entering the 2019 NFL Draft next month.

With week two about to start, who do you think the Cowboys will sign? Here are three players that would be a nice fit with Dallas at an affordable price.

S Tre Boston

The Cowboys didn’t sign the free agent safety many people were expecting, but life without Earl Thomas goes on. Safeties are cashing in pretty nicely so far. Second-tier safety Tyrann Mathieuhad trouble finding work last season as he settled for a one-year, $7 million deal with Houston. Last week, he managed to work a three-year, $42 million deal and is now tied for the highest paid safety in the league. But as it always does, the market starts to die down. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix went to the Chicago Bears on a hugely discounted deal when they signed him to a one-year, $3.5 million contract. Can the Cowboys get a great deal like that?

Well, if they do, it would have to be from signing one of the last quality safeties - Tre Boston. After struggling to find a home last year, Boston signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Arizona Cardinals. He’s actually a pretty good coverage safety and it’s a little baffling as to why he has trouble finding work. He played in 14 games last season and had three interceptions, nine pass break ups, and a forced fumbles. He also had 79 tackles for the second-straight season.

If the Cowboys continue to be patient and his price drops even further, Boston could make a nice value signing.

RB T.J. Yeldon

The Cowboys are going to lay low on this one for a while. Sure, they need a running back as they have no depth behind Ezekiel Elliott. Technically, Darius Jackson is still under contract, but the team is going to do better than that when it comes to sorting out Zeke’s backup. However, what they’re not going to do is overpay.

There are a lot of quality running backs still available, but some are still signing deals for around $5 million per year which is way more than Dallas will spend for a backup. Once the price starts dropping in the $2 million range (Carlos Hyde just signed a $2.5 million deal), the Cowboys will start to dabble. The options will thin out, but they should be able to find a solid depth guy to add to the roster.

When the Cowboys started looking at running backs in 2015 draft after losing DeMarco Murray in free agency, T.J. Yeldon was one of the five backs who were official pre-draft visits. The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted him really early (36th overall) so he never had a shot to make it to Dallas, but after four years utilized mostly as a change of pace/receiving back - he could get another shot to play in Dallas.

Yeldon has been very reliable as a backup for Leonard Fournette in recent years and could do the same for Zeke.

T.J. Yeldon or Ezekiel Elliot?

CB Kayvon Webster

The Cowboys love high upside guys and that’s what they’d get with former third-round pick Kayvon Webster. After playing out his rookie deal with the Denver Broncos, the Los Angeles Rams signed him to a two-year, $7.75 million deal in 2017. He started 11 games for the Rams that year before blowing out his Achilles. He was a cap casualty last year so he signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans. Once again, he was struck with an injury as a quad injury landed him on injured reserve. Webster’s health struggles could be a reason for pause, but it could also be an opportunity to sign a solid talent to a short-term deal while he tries to prove he can stay on the field.

The Cowboys have four reliable corners in Byron Jones, Chidobe Awuzie, Anthony Brown, and Jourdan Lewis. Luckily, this group remained healthy and they never had to call upon their depth. The corner with the next most snaps last season was C.J. Goodwin with only three defensive reps. While the main four are solid, the team should look to add some depth at the position and Webster should be a cheap way to accomplish that. You might remember Webster for that forced fumble against Dez Bryant in the Cowboys 2013 shootout against the Broncos.

Which free agent do you think the Cowboys will go after next?

I doubt we’re interested in Boston, but Yeldon would make a lot of sense

Why would Dallas not be interested in Boston at safety if the price is right??

Sure would be nice to solve the backup RB later in the 2019 draft or possibly get lucky with an overlooked rookie free-agent RB.

Because it seems like Boston is available every year and we never show the slightest bit of interest in him. I don’t know if they just like Heath more, or if they feel like he isn’t a scheme fit, but it just seems like we never look his way. It would be really surprising to me if we brought him in.

Yeldon would make some sense if you didn’t want to use 2nd or early 3rd day resources on a rb. He can pass block, he can catch out of the backfield, and he can run between the tackles if you need him to.

Because Dallas is not interested in quality safety play.

What exactly is Boston good at though? Wouldn’t he be more of a replacement for Woods than Heath? I feel like we can all agree that Woods needs to be on the field, regardless of whether or not we bring someone in. He has the potential to be something and we aren’t paying him shit right now.

Probably the same reason they weren't interested this time last year when he was available for the right price. I thought it would have been a good signing last year, and still do, but the Cowboys don't seem too have any sense of urgency at safety, even at a bargain price for a relatively young player.

Interesting buy-low option.  Might be worth a look if he checks out

More on Malik Dowell from BtB

McDowell suffered serious brain injuries after an ATV accident in July of 2017. The Seahawks didn’t declare McDowell as unable to play at all in that season until late November.

Last year, the Seahawks waived McDowell with a non-football injury designation. He was subsequent placed on the team’s reserve/non-football injury list, so he was indeed still a part of Seattle’s roster throughout the 2018 season. Earlier this month, McDowell was waived again, this time making him a free agent.

Visiting with DE Robert Quinn to begin talks about a trade

Robert Quinn was spotted today on his way to visit the #Cowboys, who are in trade talks with the #Dolphins for the veteran DE, sources say. Quinn would need to agree to any deal. So, this is another step in the process, with a Dallas team that obviously needs pass rush.

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Tyrone Crawford -- a defensive team captain -- shoved TWO police officers while they were making an arrest during a bar brawl in Florida, TMZ Sportshas learned.

Crawford was at the Coyote Ugly Saloon in Panama City on March 15, when things got violent around midnight. Sources tell us Crawford's crew had gotten into it with bar staff.

The fight was epic -- in a bad way -- multiple people suffered bloody injuries, including bar staff. One employee suffered a broken foot in the melee.

Cops raced to the scene ... and witnessed 8 to 10 people still fighting outside, this according to the police report obtained by TMZ Sports.

The report does not mention Crawford by name, but we've spoken with witnesses who are adamant Crawford was a key player in the incident.

At one point, Crawford -- 6'4", 285 pounds -- bull rushed his way through two cops and aggressively put his hands on TWO officers who were in the process of handcuffing one of the alleged combatants.

Multiple cops swarmed Crawford and restrained him -- while pushing him away from the arrest scene.

The incident involving Crawford was captured on the bar's surveillance video and shows the scene play out clear as day.

Despite the chaotic scene, Crawford was NOT arrested.

We've reached out to Crawford and the Cowboys for comment -- so far, no word back from either camp.

You can almost bet that some big-titty slut started the disagreement between 2 sets of drunk meatheads. No idea how he avoided arrest- cops must be pretty chill down in FL.
