I've already decided I won't let my arm be amputated. If that's the only option then I'm cashing out and heading to Yucatan. Hookers and blow until the end.

Alternative:  when it is time to have an unwanted amputation, arrange to have a famished ferret start eating that arm.  Eventually, you will wind up begging them to take the arm off - or at least remove the not-so famished ferret.

Remember, J.D.  still means “Doctor”.

Yeah, but why would anyone get an LLM - It's a downgrade.

I’m not trying to be a dick, but how long did it take before you had a giant lump?  Did you wake up in morning and go damn! - or did it grow over time?

In fairness, he was waiting for the lump to get big enough so he could run for city council.

I bet you'll get to keep your arm, but if I'm wrong, demand to keep it and get it taxidermied with maybe some lead weights inserted.

Then you stick it up the sleeve of your shirt so it looks like a regular arm. Go to your least favorite bar, pick a fight, then seemingly rip your own arm off and just go to town WHALIN on folks with it.

If you really lose your arm, can you get with Thujone and taxidermy it with that Coop statue arm?  I really hope you keep your arm, but if you don't, that's the next best thing.

My wife has (currently in remission fingers crossed) sarcoma as well, I know it has been said a couple times but call MDA today and get setup with a consult.

In Austin Ronald Williams at the Dell/UT medical center is also a Sarcoma specialist.

I had an elbow bursa flare up and fill with fluid.  I did not see a doctor about it, but waited about nine months and it finally went away.

I guess as we get older, anytime something looks out of the ordinary we should go see a doc.

Unfortunately I think thats the age we are at now, if something does to go away after a few weeks you might want to get it checked out…

I remember pissing coagulated gobbets of blood back in 2018. Looked like bloody sinuses rindy-snot-strings flying out my dick. I was just gonna wait for it to clear up, but my wife had her own ideas so I went and wasted some $ at the doc in the box.

Sure, sure, massive kidney tumor. But if I hadn't gone, I would have saved us a shitload of money.

That’s great. I know a lot of doctors and they have overwhelming positive things to say about Dr. Williams

I am going to warn you, he is very direct and no nonsense. That is what we needed but just want you to be aware as you walk in.

If you at any point want to talk to my wife about her treatment and experience please PM me, we will set it up.

Thank you. The support has been overwhelming and helped with the psych stress.

You can do hookers and blow with one hand. And jerk off. This site needs your self-isolating humor.

Damn, MIA, sorry you're going through this. Glad to hear you've got the top doc in Austin for your needs.

You're gonna kick its ass, and I'm hoping to see you again at Eeyore's Birthday this year!

I think it's gonna be ok. It's just a fat sack of fluid. Doesn't penetrate the bone or muscle tissue. I can move it around. Chicks like to touch it.

Yea I got some sympathy loving this weekend.

I hope you get the same news that I got MIA.   The surgeon initially told me I had cancer in my liver and my lungs, and that I had to have chemo before surgery. I told them I thought that was bullshit, and I wanted surgery right away.  The surgeon ordered a PET scan, and the results looked like a satellite picture of North Korea at night.  At least for my lungs and liver.   Not a light in sight.  My colon however, was glowing with the power of 1000 suns.

So they scheduled surgery the next week - and it turns out the tumor was 1/16 of an inch away from breaking through the colon and seeding my abdomen with cancer. I would not be around to pollute your board if that had happened.

Here’s hoping that nothing lights up but your elbow - and that any cancer crap will be in the pathologist’s trashcan real soon. MDA is one entity I donate $ to.  You got this.

Interdasting. I was a t3n1m0.  I enrolled in a clinical trial and had six rounds of folfox before surgery.  The surgical path report came back t0n0mx. And that was the unexpected end of that.

Good luck on you PET.  I was/am at MDAnderson and took a certain comfort knowing I was at the best cancer hospital in the world and there was nothing more to be done.  So just roll with it.  And always ask for ativan to be added to any infusions.

I've been getting a cocktail of fentanyl and ketomein during procedures. I felt nothing.

I swear one nurse smothered me with her RATs on purpose while giving me an ultrasound.

It moved.

Just registered with MDA. They have the best sarcoma specialist in the world.

PET scan later today.

F cancer

PET scan was the shit. Like flicking on the light and seeing exactly where the roaches were. And where they weren't.

A bonus was that the place where I got mine played soothing music and showed beautiful scenery kinda like they do in the movie when they make somebody into Soylent Green.

But seriously, PET scans are great.

We’re T3N1M0 twinsies Basil.

But folfox is not a clinical trial new drug, as that is the standard colon adenocarcinoma chemo regimen.

What new cool drug or infusion were you taking with the folfox?   I did the Capox regimen, taking pills for three months and getting the ox crap infused every three weeks.

I hope you read this post. My BIL had a rare sarcoma cancer in his leg many years ago. Big bump. All of the Doctors he visited in Austin said amputation was probably necessary. He finally went to Mayo in MN and they not only saved his leg, they suggested a completely different protocol for treatment as well. He wore a backpack delivering chemo for almost a full year. It was insane. But he kept his leg and has been cancer free for a long time. I can’t remember if he got a consult at MDA or why he didn’t get treated there. I will ask him.

Thanks man!

I've made a tentative appt at MDA with Dr Arudua... I think that's the name.

She's the best from what my pals and I have researched.

As I'm sure know, SOC is (or was at least) chemorad/surgery/12 rounds folfox/capox.  The Prospect Trial (https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2303269) used folfox instead of chemorad.  I'm one of the 1194.  I had a complete response and my functionality is pretty close to pre-cancer even with the TME surgery.  I was dx'd 3/16/17 and essentially discharged 8/3/17.  It was a whirlwind.

Basil, I was dx’d 2 years and 7 days after you.  They were just publishing the results of the IDEA study, which show showed that the pills and ox infusion (capox) for 3 months was non-inferior to 6 months of folfox infusions.  So I opted for the pills.  Made it easier to keep working b/c I only had to have an infusion of Ox every 3 weeks.

I’m very glad to hear that you’re doing great eight years later.

I really enjoy pet scans too. It's almost meditative with the hum of the machine. Mine are always at like 7am also and I am NOT a morning person so I'm usually on like 2 hours of sleep. No music or video at my place but the 2x4 grid fluorescent lights have a beach scene cover on them and it's fun to open my eyes every few minutes and see how far the bench has moved by how much of the palm tree is exposed.

Scan done. Much more pleasant than the MRI.

I'm radioactive now, so that's cool.

My wife got me a Simpson’s “Radioactive Man” shirt while I was going through radiation treatments.  It was a big hit in the Radiology department at City of Hope.
