Well that wasn't quite what I was expecting.  Too early to tell.  I would have rather had it be based in NYC again instead of rando farming community with the Stranger Things kids, but maybe it will surprise me.

I don't know why it's strange to me but there's only 17 years between Akroyd and Rudd.

Okay, this looks good.  Much better than the last one.

Like that it’s an actual continuation of the 1980s films.

Agreed. I had zero desire to see the female reboot. This one looks good.

i'd be interested in the number of good comedies that had trailers that didn't even get a grin out of me.

If you're interested in watching an overdone comedy jam-packed with slapstick, just watch the failed 2016 reboot.

Ghostbusters succeeded because it was a serious movie at heart with jokes thrown in along the way. The comedy was deadpan and relied mostly on absurdity.

Ugh...was Finn Wolfhard not available?

Love Paul Rudd as a comedic actor but a kid-focused cast was about the least appealing way they could go to spark my interest.  Is this the formula now for anything 1980's related going forward?

I'll give it a chance based on Jason Reitman's resume of great movies like Up In the Air and Young Adult, but nothing about the trailer excites me.

Murray, Aykroyd, Weaver, Annie Potts and Ernie Hudson are all in this. There is still a lot of material they are keeping under wraps. I'm optimistic.

Looks like Rick Moranis is still in self-imposed exile. I hope they were able to persuade him.

So Stranger Things?

Sure, why not?  Stranger Things is awesome.  This looks awesome, too.

I'm glad they didn't do another re-hash in NYC.  This is way more interesting to me.

Re-watching the trailer, when the "ghost" steps on the hood of the car, is that a Zuul noise?

That's one of those damned dogs that keep Rick Moranis from doing any more movies.

Ha, I didn't recognize him.  He looked just different enough to me and older that I thought he was some kid cast to play a Finn Wolfhard-type.

So he has to be officially typecast as the 1980's nostalgia/supernatural kid, right?

anyone watch the ghostbusters episode of "the movies that made us" on netflix?

some interesting stuff (the die hard one was better).  i either didn't know or had read and forgotten that ramis and murray had a falling out after groundhog day that lasted until ramis was on his death bed.  was sad to hear.  without knowing anything that happened, i blame murray.

Having the original cast, minus Rick, and given how competently filmed/written this looks (including comments from Akroyd and others) this thing is going to hit a billion easily.  Probably the only movie ever set in Oklahoma that will make a billion.

I said to a friend yesterday, Ghostbusters + Stranger Things + Paul Rudd = a trillion dollars.

4. He and Bill Murray resolved their feud at the last minute.

Ramis and Bill Murray had been friends and collaborators since the ’70s and worked on Caddyshack, Meatballs, and Ghostbusters together, but their friendship fell apart on the set of Groundhog Day. Star Murray and director Ramis had such intense creative disagreements that one day Ramis grabbed Murray by the shirt collar and threw him against a wall. After that, Murray didn’t speak to Ramis for over 20 years. Stiel says her father “did his best to be diplomatic about the whole thing” and “tried not to take it personally” since Murray had been going through some personal problems at the time, but to little avail. The falling out got under his skin — Stiel says that her dad told her he felt alternately “heartbroken, confused, and yet unsurprised by the rejection.” Just before Ramis died, Murray showed up unannounced at his old friend’s house at 7 a.m. with a box of doughnuts and a police escort. Ramis had pretty much lost his ability to speak by that point, so Murray did most of the talking. They didn’t rehash the events from the set of Groundhog Day, choosing instead to hang out for a couple of hours, laugh, and make amends.

You don't remember the notorious Murray/Ramis beef.  It was real Chicago Northsider shit.
