quick question: should I read anything into our offense dropping off from the beginning of the season?  Is it just that the big 12 just has much better pitching than we faced earlier in the year? Seems like we hit better earlier in the year even against decent teams, but I may be mis-remembering.

http://www.big12sports.com/fls/10410/pdfs/softball/19sbstats.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=10410  (B12 does not have conference only stats for 2019)

.

Valid concern.    Better pitching, better scouting of our hitters imo.   The  starting Baylor pitcher today pitched a great game.      Knew exactly how to pitch our hitters, location, etc.  She tried to get a fastball by pinch hitter  Washington and missed location resulting in the key hit.

I think there is cause for concern.   We are hitting .313 overall but only .272 in the last 8 games.    But the key is the hitters just don't look confident, imo.

For those that haven't been following the collapse of the Oregon roster-

1 pitcher quit midseason. This left only one scholarship pitcher along with a walk-on.

Last week, two starters collided on a fly ball. Both are now out due to concussion symptoms.

Today against Utah, another infielder got injured.

The result: Some infielders are now pitching and the walk on catcher is now playing outfield (unfortunately also making fielding errors).

Latest projection I saw has us as the #6 and UF #11 which would be good because that offense for UF has died to end the season. I’d feel very good about our chances at home.

But the real Q is pitching rotation. Do you go Elish-Shea-Elish if it’s OU or Elish-Bollinger-Shea if it’s TT?

Does Shea get a crack at OU so you can have Elish ready in relief and let Brooke handle ISU?

Good question..... Probably part of Saturday pitching decision will be determined by the pitch counts from Friday games.  Also wonder how healthy Shea is currently?  May only want to use Shea for certain hitter match-ups in the Saturday game if blOU is their opponent.

BUST OUT THE  BATS!! Would be great to beat Okie Lite, and then follow that with a quick early lead vs Iowa State.... maybe even get the Horn's 4th pitcher in for an inning of two.

Couple questions:

1) Besides Elish, what pitcher pitched the best against blOU??

2) Isn't it critical to beat Iowa State to secure the Horns a spot in top 8 Rpi??

Yeah it is. But I have faith Shea or Brooke can pitch us to a win versus ISU

Ou never saw Shea so I think it’s an interesting option if you don’t want them to have a fourth look at Elish

Projected #7 here, matching up with Tennessee.

I would *hope* the committee would flip us and Arizona (if they lose out to UCLA this weekend), because we already had 2 games against Tennessee.  Let's do Texas-Florida and Arizona-Tennessee.  Much more exciting.

Aggy loses the SEC "play-in" game in the tournament at their home park to MSU.

28-25 record.  RPI #45.

Very similar to us the last few years.  They may squeak in but we usually did so with 30ish wins.

Is Ellsworth supposed to play again this year?

Very unlikely unless Mary Iakopo becomes injured.     Possible medical redshirt ?

We really need these 2 games today; though, I suspect that Florida taking out LSU last night in the SEC tournament was the death of LSU's top 8 bid.  LSU needs total chaos - Texas losing both games today, Minnesota not winning the B1G tournament and ESPN's SEC bias pushing Florida/LSU into the last 2 spots.

OU
UCLA
Washington
Arizona
FSU
Alabama
*Texas
*Florida
*LSU
*Minnesota

*All teams in contention for the last 2 spots
