I've never used one, but these seem to be well reviewed and aren't as bulky as some that I've seen

https://shop.tryfi.com/products/smart-collar-v3

Garmin also makes one

https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/965617

I'm looking at them too, as Darlene is starting to take Valerie on her walk abouts. I found this this break down of Fi and other products. It's really in depth and I think does a great job of highlighting pros and cons. Being remote Fi can be an issue for me given ATT coverage.

Oh, and because pics or it didn't happen.

A friendly reminder to walk your fence line and look for weak spots. Little girl burrowed her way into the neighbor’s backyard this afternoon. I had to dig in the dirt and turn her on her side to get her out. I then piled about 3 feet of bricks in the hole.

I've been holding off posting this, because I wanted to make sure the dog was okay with our kids and other dogs.

About a month ago, our neighbors got evicted. Then arrest on some drug related charges. A few days after they moved, their out their pity bull showed back up. I heard him crying at their front door and tried to get him to come inside with me.  Eventually, I had to call the animal shelter

They tried to get a hold of the former neighbors. As did we. But they really didn't want to have anything to do with him. Because he was a pitt bull and supposedly nipped at one of the shelter persons, he was going to be put down.

We picked him up that day.

TL;DNR people suck. New puppy

Good on you. Sweetest and smartest dog I ever had was a rescue pit mix. I miss that guy every single day.

Quick update. He's gained 9 pounds in three weeks we've had him.

That’s amazing and real. Tilly gained 1.3 lbs in the last 3 weeks, and she’s hopefully going to max out at 12 lbs total. Amazing how fast growing dogs can gain weight, and you’re isn’t even a puppy. You’re a good man.

Hot dog walk today. Stetson has matured a lot lately and he is doing great at off-leash walks in the big green belt and fields behind my house. The downside is that he doesn’t get excited for his usual 3 mile leash walks with Priscilla. He just wants to play with dad!

We almost never walk Jax on a leash anymore. Training for off leash with the docile happy breeds is great. The only time we use a leash is around other dogs or in areas where there is a concern.

I don’t trust him on the neighborhood streets off leash. Rabbits and squirrels and dogs and kids and teenage/idiot drivers.

Our hood is super small and low traffic and he’s super reliable on my get your ass back here and heel command. But if we are somewhere with a lot of traffic yeah we go with the leash too.

Cross posting from fishing thread … Jax has cemented his place on the skiff with my guide which is bad ass - means there is now not one single reason for me to drop money on one of those boats and Jax gets to live the best dog life and make me happy because my best friend and I now go fishing together !! I could  not be happier.

Blue was just scratching her chin with her back foot, then her foot must have done something to piss her off, because she then attacked it.
