"They dig as a team" made me remember many years ago when we had a lab, a beagle, and an old decrepit chihuahua. They all dug but took turns. More than once they'd get a hole started, the beagle and lab doing their share, then the chihuahua would crawl into the huge hole, going to the bottom so you couldn't even see her, then doing her $.02 worth as if it mattered. But she was a presence in all our lives, no matter how much I tried to hate her.

thats the look of sometimes i wish I could GET the squirrel --- or  why is the squirrel allowed to exist in the front yard and i can only play in the back.

I dunno I kinda get the “I wish I was a squirrel.” chasing tail and wanting to be tail is a thing you know.

I actually agree with your take though. Or even more simple. Just “I want that squirrel.” These are dogs after all.

Our son got a rescue Husky/Labrador pup.  Meet Iggy!

May be an image of dog

For his sake, I hope the Lab instincts are stronger than the Husky ones.

I know nothing about Huskies . . . stubborn?  stupid?  other?

They aren't stupid. That's for sure. They don't train easily and you want to get started early. They are VERY vocal. They don't bark, but will talk and howl. The biggest issue is they are escape artists and will run for days. Hopefully, the lab side prevails there, but always be sure to inspect a fenced yard for any possible way out. They will find a way. Oh, and expect to need to replace your vacuum every year. Blue's shedding destroyed a Dyson animal vac.

And, if you always wanted a cat, a husky scratches that itch. They think they are cats.

Yeah, this little girl was "talking".  Not a true bark, even when our dumbass chihuahua was flipping her shit and barking right in her face.  Iggy held her ground.  Then she peed on the chihuahua's blanket.  Good girl.

And, affection is usually on their terms, just like a cat. Blue will come up and bury her head into me. Then, as soon as I pet her for more that whatever time she has allotted, she yips and snaps at me and runs away.

Fortunately, Sebastian didn't get the escape artist from his Husky half because at 86 lbs, no yard could hold him if he did.  A 3 foot tall baby gate completely flummoxes him.  I try to use a shedding rake on him at least once daily, which seems to help quite a bit.  He is one stubborn motherfucker though.  Huskies are the best, and Iggy is so cute.
