any recs for how to get him to quit fucking with the cats? The other dogs were always just friends with them. Crash won’t leave them alone

Dude looks like a deer fawn in that pic.

Thus far all the cats kinda beat him up. But I’m just worried he will get a little too crazy with the back of neck bites on one of them.

Once he gets his nose clawed he will leave them be.

He's not capable of sneaking up on them, which would be the only way to hurt one of them.

Luna avoids cats like the plague.

Any tips on how to assess when "it's time"?  My catahoula mix Gumbo is almost 13, and she basically sleeps all day.  She is damn near blind, although she still hears OK.  She's becoming incontinent, and has a persistent yeast infection in various spots on her body that we are really struggling to keep up with.  I can't tell if she's suffering or just mostly old and tired.  I love her and I can't see a clear indication that she's in pain or miserable but she has definitely lost most of her spark.  (Well, except for when I make her twice-daily chicken/rice/peas/carrots/blueberry gruel, then she really perks up.)

Every dog I've owned has died of natural causes before I realized they had serious problems.  This is a new one for me.

^that's a good gage.

in the absence of some sudden illness/injury (been thru that a couple of times, that's by far the worst)...

for our aging doggos, assuming there's no real pain, we basically went with two factors - incontinence and ceasing to enjoy food. dogs are pretty simple, those two things i feel like make up a good portion of them just 'living life'. and i think of humans, myself included... if i get to the point that i can't stop peeing on myself and can't enjoy a good burger, fuck it, im done.

our Catahoula had the biggest, loudest personality of any of our dogs. her issue was sudden (something in her spinal cord, or maybe a stroke) and we were not even remotely prepared, she was only 8! 💔 that is definitely worse. loved that girl.

This is Ned. He’s an 11-month-old hound/husky mix. He’s also a street dog rescued from a storm drain with two of his litter mates, Lucky and Dusty (this is true, and you know the movie reference). He’s been with an incredible foster mom/trainer for the last few months, and today we adopt him into our family. It was sort of impulsive on my part after giving my wife and stepdaughter the whole “we’re not ready for a dog just yet” this past year. But all I can say is that I just felt this call.

Man, I love dogs.  Thanks for the pics.

I even love our dumbass chihuahua.  She is the most nervous, attached, anxiety-ridden dog I've ever known and yet I love every knee hug.  I will be crushed when it's her time.  (She might outlive me, though.)

When it was Amber's time the vet told me to count 5 things she liked and is able to do.

Once it goes down to one, it's time.

I cried typing this. I'm so sorry.

Yesterday. “Sleeping on the couch” is listed as one of his top pastimes. Killing raccoons is probably #2.

Bailey still pisses with abandon, throws down her chow (also mostly chicken and rice), and is curious about everything.  Loves when UPS makes a delivery and the doorbell rings.  Morning temps in the 30s make it hard for her to get up, move around and get going, though.

There's a great Facebook group dedicated to dogs that love their UPS drivers.  It's probably on other social media, too.  Lots of dogs will board the truck to say "hi".  Show me a cat that does that.

Antlers for dogs – yay or nay? I’ve read mixed reviews, including one that says most vets advise against them. But our new dog’s foster mom who seems to know her stuff recommended one for when he’s in his crate.

I would not leave my dog unattended in his crate with anything that could potentially be a choking hazard. I’ve never let him have any toys or chewys when he’s in his crate.

100% ok from what I've seen.  We give them all the time

Dash the duck dog (not mine).  Old boy's taken well over 200 ducks this year alone.  He's pushing 11 so my friend and owner has to be careful with him or he'll push himself too far.  Enjoying a ranch dust bath and showing you his big ass dog balls

Anyone else's dog act like this when they have a dingleberry they can't shake? My dog will have a pea sized one .. and he knows... and he'll spend the next hour cowering in the corner like he just murdered the neighbor's children.

Luna stares at me until I remove it. Her look of complete indignity is heart breaking and funny at the same time.

Just as long as they aren’t too large
