(I trust y'all on this thread, and this thread alone, to not comment on my daughter.)

I'll do it :D

She looks like she's not happy with the redneck, and she's ready to train this mofo to rip some dudes balls off.

Good boy Zeus.  Say hello to Bailey, Zeke, Callie, Magic, and the rest of those canine kids we have had the pleasure of sharing our lives with.  Bless your heart Beau for being the forever human Zeus was destined to share his life with.

Today wasn't the day. Emma really stepped it up this week. She dealt with her new situation like a champ, after some initial stress. It still may be soon, but it wasn't today.

Fucking Blue killed a female cardinal. How these birds never get off the ground before she grabs them is beyond me.

Grackles only, dummy.

Fucking hell, we had to put Zeus down yesterday.  He was a 12-yo Newfie, so we fully realize that we’ve gotten a full life and more out of him, but damn that felt awful.
One of the reasons I decided to get a Newfie was the famous epitaph that the English poet Lord Byron wrote on the death of his Newfie Botswain:image.thumb.png.99889d2db19fe754efb0a5dac8d623e0.png

I thought that was beautiful when I read it and it is more beautiful today because those words just absolutely perfectly describe Zeus.

Beauty without vanity?  Never seen such a beautiful animal slobber so much...

Strength without insolence?  In his prime, he weighed 150 with amazing strength.  He could have done whatever he wanted in our house, but he only did what he thought we wanted.

Courage without ferocity?  One trait that I had read about Newfies is that when they sense a threat, they won't bark or growl; they'll just put themselves between the threat and their humans.  He was less than a year old when I first saw him do that, stepping between my daughter and a neighbor's new barking dog and just staring it down.

Thank you for being in my life for 145 months, buddy.

Beau I'm sorry to hear about Zeus. He was a big beautiful soul. I'm glad you got 12 wonderful years with him.

Rest easy Zeus

She just facetimed with the pup in my daughter’s lap.  It was over.

And the destruction begins. Everything out of mouths reach.

If that's an Aussie, it will be the most stubborn, loyal, shedding, smart, neurotic, protective dog ever. They need lots of attention, but great dogs. They will die for you.

They think she’s an Aussie shepherd/ Aussie cattle dog mix.

Lifesaver or shithead

He seems to like the camera. Looks like a Kobe or Shaq to me. Lol.

Cute dog. I am getting to the point where I feel ready to adopt again. I miss Little Bitty (RIP 3/22/21) but I am ready to find my new best dog friend.

I had no interest in a new dog.  Crosby’s loss is still too raw for me (2/25/21), but the fam was ready.  She makes them smile, so that makes me happy.  I’ll warm up to her.  She’ll never be him, but she can be a great dog too.

I understand completely. No dog will ever replace Bitty. Happy for your family. Looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship for you though. ❤️

Her coloring reminds me of a s’more but I like the name Boots also. I have always wanted to name a female dog Ripley (after the Sigourney Weaver’s character in the Alien movies) or Bristow from Jennifer Garner’s character in Alias but the names have to come organically. That’s how Little Bitty got her name.

I love that color.

It's the strangest thing. When the light hits her coat right, it has that purple/blue iridescence.

I was thinking at @Sbbruin new pup reminds me of a s’more with her coloring but now I am thinking of my favorite dessert I always make and bring to parties and friends for the Holidays: coconut blondies with dark chocolate.

😁😁

Oh for those surlies with new puppies (a few of my friends just adopted new pups):

This is the Awoof Pet Snuffle Mat which is $16.95 on Amazon. It looks like a bowl of lettuce to me. But three of my friends have them and swear it relaxes their puppies and allows them to use their brain thru their nose.

basically the Awoof mat is a bunch of felt strips attached to a base that are sewn in tight circles that expand outward and overlap each other as they go.

You hide your puppies treats in there. The mat works their olfactory receptors which ignite in their brains—scent info being highly stimulating to them.

My friends say it keeps their puppies busy for a good 10-20 minutes and they end up taking naps not too long after.

I have never tried one but when I adopt my new best friend (not a replacement for Little Bitty ❤️) I want to get one and see if it works the way my friends say it does.

I have found that puppies will take their cue from you. Be chill and they will be chill. I can't count the number of people whose dogs I look after claim their dog has anxiety issues, only to find it isn't true at all. Be the leader.

I had a coworker's dog for two weeks. Dog had chewed himself raw and was terrified of loud noises, apparently. Sent him home with a fully healed coat and he was the only dog out in the yard just chilling when the neighbors had their fireworks show.

Talked to him about it and he told me his wife and daughter spent most of the time with the dog and both were pretty high strung.

Wife is driving 1.5 hours to see her.  They think Aussie shepherd/Aussie cattle do mix.  8 weeks.  If she gets a good vibe, she’ll be ours tonight.  We shall see.

What makes you so sure the chair is tiny?

It fit in the single-wide trailer the person selling it lived in?

Can you guess what my dogs would do if you hid some food among a bunch of felt?  Maybe if it was ballistic nylon.

She’s home.  She looks a lot different than that pic (much cuter in my opinion).
