Saw that as well. On the other hand, I think it is kinda the official hand sign of OU by now...

oh Mack Brown fucked off recruiting for sure and was in no way shape or form doing the required work

but the one issue is just because Miles and Saban and Meyer and others come on the scene that does not mean you start fucking over a guy like Mack and start telling him that your lazy and entitled problem children with limited upside are good kids while you develop a new relationship with the new shit hot coaches

I suppose there is the argument that "he got them a ride to college", but more likely he got them a limited amount of time on a college campus they did not belong at before they fucked that chance up because Mack was not on top of them or because they thought all they had to do was put on the uniform and fuck off and they were golden.....they could have received a free ride to a place like SHSU or a WAC or MWC school and perhaps had a wake up call and ended up with some degree or perhaps even developed their talent instead of falling by the wayside

the other MUCH bigger issue is if Mack or anyone else threatens to start looking out of state then suddenly those same coaches that "care" and are "just trying to get a kid a spot" start black balling those coaches that recruit out of state and of course what happened to the "we are getting kids spots" when you are suddenly getting in the way of Texas coaches recruiting at your high school and even more so when you know that the shit hot coaches like Saban and Miles and Meyer are only going to take the select few Texas players they are really targeting and if you fuck THEM over well they can easily just black ball recruiting YOUR high school......there are several examples of that in Louisiana specifically with Saban and with LSU where a coach tried to step up to the college programs and was slapped down hard.....mainly because Louisiana knows they produce way more talent than they have in state places for

I am not saying feel sorry for Mack by any stretch he fucked things up for himself the best he knew how, but it is a fucked system when some high school coach holds so much sway about the future of players and how he allows recruiting to happen and who he is honest with and who he tries to get in the way of because he is pissed off he cannot off load his problem children on some in state programs with impunity.....all the more so when a lot of those lazy ass coaches are as much or more responsible for the shitty, lazy, poor work habits and entitlement and limited upside of that player as the actual player and his mom are

one can talk about what happened at Baylor, but the truth is those players did not get to Baylor and suddenly become total pieces of shit they were pieces of shit long before they hit the Baylor campus and their HS coaches new that 100% and did not give a shit to tell Baylor and or knew they could send them to Baylor and Baylor might not give a shit either......but as long as "hey signed D1-A P5 letter of intent" it was "job well done" no matter what happened a couple of years down the road

I understand what you're saying, but each of these "paragraphs" was a single sentence.

Thank you! (NO props to give out at the moment.)

I just read that Cal basically pushes out players who graduate in 4 years, because their grad school makes zero concessions for athletes. That being said, if you're graduating from Cal in 4 years, I would think that UT was the only school of the three listed that you'd actually be considering. He's gotta know that he isn't going pro (from what I've read), but if he can use football to get into a good grad school program and have the first year paid for... HELL YES!

I haz excite for a guy with a high floor/low ceiling who is smart and has experience, plus he doesn't fumble and can return kicks. Nice.

Anyone know how this works exactly? I'm in grad school at a state university and even the masters students of nearly all programs get tuition paid for and an 11k/yr stipend for working as TAs and RAs. So if he's wanting to play football instead of being a TA/RA, he gets the tuition free but misses out on the stipend? Maybe there's a way they work around it to get him the stipend as well? It'd be a hell of a lot of extra work to play football just for the free tuition (if you know you're not going pro) rather than work as a TA/RA and get free tuition plus a stipend. I suppose all of this is assuming they're not going into an athletics/sports field, because playing the sport would obviously give you an advantage in your career as well.

Horns 247 posters are the worst in all of Longhorn fandom. Poor writing, dumb questions to their mods, and a complete lack of recruiting or football knowledge. Plenty of stupid open letters to recruits like Orangebloods in the bad ole days.

bierce is the only good poster over there, but he's focused primarily on hoops.

I do think EJ is getting better, and Roach has always been somewhere near respectable.

Outta rep apparently, but I'll second this comment. The posters on 24/7 are the dumbest motherfuckers alive. 5-8 different posts at any given time asking EJ direct questions and shit. One fucking nimrod literally posted this thread title there yesterday "So is Garrett Wilson really from Ohio?" JFC. And then when someone answered in the affirmative, idiot went on like a tirade about "of course he went to Ohio state then ya'll are just idiots." It really and truly is a beating.

Don’t football players get a stipend for playing football now?

Yes they do. They get a "cost of attendance" stipend now each month. 3-5K, depending on the school.

Texas pays around $4,310/year or $359/month

There's pics of Calvin Anderson throwing horns down on his OU visit. While I think it's a bad move if there is a possibility you land at Texas. A lot of kids do it. I wo yiuldnt put too much into it.

Crazy aggy coach groupie thinks the only non-SEC commitment in the bunch is the one that won't stick? That's cute. She needs to get back to mainlining the Midol.

As for the most impressive part of the trip, Horace told me “It is tough to narrow it down to one thing but Drew (Mehringer) made a huge impression on my wife and I. His coaching style is a good fit for Dru”. He continued by saying “Also, how they plan on using Bru was very appealing.”

Horace had great reviews about the campus and city of Austin as well, saying “Overall, the campus, facilities, and Austin itself are all big pluses.”

I wanted to be clear about how the staff plans on using Bru should he choose to attend The University of Texas, and Horace told me they planned on using him much like he is used at Mater Dei: “Bru’s main position and focus would be at Wide Receiver, but they could also use him coming off the edge in packages in passing downs on defense, which is very similar to what he is doing at Mater Dei.”

They're saying he will be an edge rusher in certain packages.  That doesn't mean he will play it full time.  There's no reason an elite player like McCoy can't play receiver full time and 10 plays on defense a game.

Roschon posted a pic of himself in UT gear saying "with us or against us"

Ossai replied, saying to say it again, because people aren't listening when he says it. Which makes sense, because he's from Conroe, aka aggy country (Tyler Johnson aside)
