EJ crystal balled some New York DE to aggy.  Not saying this is legit but he's 100% on his aggy picks.  Are they sending a message to Stripling to commit now or he won't have a spot?

No idea what's going on with numbers at the DL spot. Esp. if you add Orebo to the mix.

Here's the Isaac and Stripling together today ...

Pisswaters spinning a common "thumbs up" gesture to mean aggy leans. Stick to attacking Smashmouth, Mark.

E.J. Holland: Five Texas storylines to watch at State 7v7

1. How is Card progressing? — Texas commit Hudson Card has a chance to be one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation moving forward. But the 2020 prospect played mostly wide receiver as a sophomore. While he showed off his explosive ability as a runner, we still want to see more of Card as a passer. He had his moments when he was thrown into the fire in last year's 6A DI state title game and definitely looked the part in Lake Travis’ 7v7 state qualifying tournament earlier this offseason. This weekend should give us a better idea of what Card can be from a pure passer standpoint.

2. Another evaluation of Wiley — This will be my second time seeing Texas tight end commit Jared Wiley in person this offseason. Wiley is currently the lowest rated recruit in UT’s 2019 class, but he does have a lot of upside. The three-star prospect has excellent size and moves well in the open field. However, he only played quarterback in Temple’s spring game, which limited my evaluation. Wiley will likely be slinging it again this weekend. However, we hope to see him get some time as a receiver, so we can get a better idea of how he’ll perform at his future position.

3. Should Texas push for Anderson? — Texas has a pair of slot receivers committed in Jake Smith and Jordan Whittington, but the Longhorns have a gaping hole at outside wide receiver. And that’s a big reason why Texas offered some high ceiling wide outs during the spring evaluation period, including Midlothian Heritage product Langston Anderson. While he is further down on the board at this time, Anderson has been coming along nicely this offseason and has a chance to impress on a big stage in College Station.

4. Potential 2019 offers — Texas has several top defensive backs still on the board, but the Longhorns are still eyeing a couple of intriguing targets like Plano East’s Tyler Owens and Coppell’s Jonathan McGill. Owens has the potential to grow into a linebacker, while McGill would be an excellent nickel. Texas has an obvious need at linebacker this cycle and is closely evaluating Fort Bend Travis’ Zach Zimos, who could make a name for himself this weekend.

5. Potential 2020 offers — Texas likes to take its time offering underclassmen, but there will be several worthy candidates, including elite Southlake Carroll cornerback RJ Mickens, who might be a Top 5 overall player in the state next cycle. The Longhorns are evaluating a number of other 2020 recruits at the tourney such as Bishop Dunne tight end Elijah Yelverton, Rockwall wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Mesquite Poteet running back Seth McGowan.

Oh, he’s a prophet alright. Just hope he’s not a false one or we’ll crucify his ass.

I'm cheering for the guy to be right for the following reasons:

1) I'd like to land Rian Davis.

2) He provided info as best he could that actually was a better feed than damn near anything the $9.95ers ever bring to the table.

3) The boards are always tough on people who pass on info as best as they can and it is pretty thankless. Not really any upside, and it's a beating when something shifts under you on the landscape and your prior position winds up being incorrect.

I'm rooting against him for the following reason:

A) It's usually hilarious watching grown men pummel other grown men on the Internet over the whims of teenagers and the false hope they often create.

He needs to deepen his kick and make his punch more direct.  It'll help him square up the rusher and keep him from the impending holding penalty that an edge rusher with good hands will draw if he doesn't fix that.

He has the athleticism, fluidity, and length you look for, he just needs to work on some technical, but he has the talent to be a plus left tackle down the road

100% agree.  That's why my comments were about technique.  He's got the build and athleticism of a top 5 draft pick at LT.

Remember the Dallas Opening Regional where there were a bunch of ridiculous 40 times, including Stingley, Dax, and Jeffrey Carter running mid or low 4.3s?

Today the fastest 40 at the Rivals 5* challenge was a 4.56

Any ideas on the "good news" Orangebloods is hinting at? Per Floss, it's not Caldwell.

This was discussed earlier in the thread and the consensus was that your mom was getting ready to do a live cam show wearing a strap-on with a drugged-up and tied-down Geoff Ketchum. Fud was really excited.

Knowing how the $9.95'ers love to read message boards and pretend it is a scoop, I'm going to guess that it's Rian Davis because monk posted in here earlier today.

FWIW in the OB War Room tonight Suchomel  didn't mention Rian Davis but he did say this about Makiya Tongue

Spoiler

Wide receiver Makiya Tongue released a top three of Georgia, Texas and Arizona State this week, and while there’s been some buzz about Georgia after Tongue took an official visit there a couple weeks ago, we have reason to believe the Longhorns are in a better spot right now than most realize.

Georgia is definitely a threat here with Arizona being a wildcard, but with Tongue hoping to make his decision this summer, we heard this week that this one could fall Texas’ way for the Baton Rouge University Lab product.

E.J. Holland's Big Board: Defensive Line

With the spring evaluation period over and done with, it’s time to reset the big boards and look at where Texas stands with its targets at each position. We continue the series by taking a look at defensive line recruiting.

Commits:

Peter Mpagi, George Ranch — Mpagi dreamed of playing for Texas and worked non-stop to notch an offer from the Longhorns. When it finally came, the three-star prospect wasted no time jumping on board and committed while on a visit to campus earlier this month. Mpagi is an intriguing prospect with a lot of upside that will likely add weight and spend a lot of his time with his hand in the dirt.

T’Vondre Sweat, Huntsville — Sweat became the second member of UT’s 2019 class when he gave the Longhorns a verbal commitment back in February. Sweat has been completely solid to UT and does not plan on visiting any other schools. The three-star prospect is listed under 250 but is pushing closer to 265. If he polishes up his technique, he could be a contributor early on in his career.

Top Targets:

DeMarvin Leal, Converse Judson — Leal rocked the recruiting world when he gave a quick commitment to Texas A&M during the spring. However, this recruitment is far from over. Leal made an official visit to Texas, and we are still told that his mother loves the UT program. Texas is continuing to work hard on Leal, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him make a visit at some point this fall. Leal is clearly the best defensive lineman in the state this cycle, and flipping him from A&M would be the biggest recruiting win of the cycle.

Jermaine Johnson, Independence C.C. — It’s no secret. Texas needs some immediate help along the defensive line, and Johnson is one of the best junior college players in the country. Johnson made an unofficial visit to Texas for the Heat Wave pool party, and the Longhorns are pushing to get an official visit this fall. While Texas is in the mix, Georgia appears to be the frontrunner for his services at this time. He is also considering schools like Oregon, Nebraska and Minnesota.

Jacoby Jones, Butler C.C. — Johnson isn’t the only junior college prospect the Longhorns are working on. Jones made an unofficial visit to Texas this offseason and earned an offer while on campus. Texas is likely to get an official visit in the fall and will be a major player in his recruitment moving forward. Along with Texas, Jones holds offers from Colorado, Illinois, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and others.

Faatui Tuitele, Honolulu St. Louis (HI) — Texas is a top school for Tuitele, but the Longhorns still have some work to do in his recruitment as schools like Alabama and USC appear like more likely landing destinations at this time. With that said, Tuitele did make an unofficial visit to Texas this offseason and is likely to return for an official visit at some point this fall. A five-star prospect, Tuitele is close to Texas linebacker target Maninoa Tufono, and the two have talked about playing together at the next level.

Zach Williams, Little Rock Robinson (Ark.) — There aren’t a lot of rush ends on the board this cycle, but Williams certainly fits the ball. At 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, Williams knows how to get to the quarterback and has plenty of upside. Texas is high on his list along with Arkansas and Oregon State. The Longhorns will likely get an official visit in the fall and have a legitimate chance at pulling him out of Arkansas. A four-star prospect, Williams is looking to make a decision later in the process.

Offered Prospects:

Taurean Carter, Mansfield Legacy — Carter currently has a Top 2 of TCU and Texas, and the Longhorns are surging in this recruitment after his recent unofficial visit. However, Carter does not plan to make a decision until October, and Texas is perfectly fine with that. If Carter does side with UT, it would help with teammate and key safety target Jalen Catalon as well as his cousin and elite corner Jeffery Carter.

Ishmael Sopsher, Amite (La.) — One of the best defensive linemen in the country, Sopsher has talked about making an unofficial visit to Texas, but that has yet to happen. Until he actually makes it to Austin, there really isn’t much to see here. Alabama and LSU are the overwhelming favorites in his recruitment.

Marcus Stripling, Katy Mayde Creek — Stripling visited Texas back in February for junior day weekend but hasn’t been back to campus since. It just doesn’t seem like he has super high interest in the Longhorns at this time. Schools like Oklahoma and Texas A&M are the two favorites in his recruitment.

On The Radar:

Stephon Wright, Los Angeles Cathedral (Calif.) — A four-star prospect, Wright is considered a USC lean, which is probably why Texas hasn’t been hesitant to offer. But he is a big-time talent, and UT has had plenty of success out West.

Z’Core Brooks, Dallas Woodrow Wilson — Brooks has some of the biggest potential in the class. At 6-foot-6, 220 pounds, Brooks is a giant with great athletic ability, so it’s no surprise Texas is interested. He recently made an unofficial visit and is on the radar.

Shemar Pearl, Plano West — Another potential prospect, Pearl has great size and an excellent frame to add weight at the next level. He has been in constant contact with the Texas staff and made an unofficial visit earlier this offseason.

Trace Ford, Santa Fe (Okla.) — If things don’t work out with the aforementioned Williams, Texas could take a closer look at Ford. He is a solid rush end with multiple P5 offers and made his way to campus for junior day weekend in February.

Xavier Ross, Cedar Hill — Ross is a similar player to Sweat, who, as mentioned, is committed to Sweat. At 6-foot-3, 285 pounds, Ross is a big-bodied defensive lineman that can take up multiple blockers. He is currently committed to Oklahoma State, and Texas has shown interest.

Isreal Isuman-Hundley, Argyle Liberty Christian — Another Oklahoma State commit, Isuman-Hundley is one of the most intriguing prospects in the class. He has only been playing football for a couple of years and is a good-looking prospect at 6-foot-5, 230 pounds. Texas is monitoring him.

Gilbert Ibeneme, Pearland — A three-star prospect, Ibeneme was a highly rated prospect at this time last year, but he suffered some injuries during his junior season that have hurt his stock. Still, he visited Texas for junior day and is a guy the Longhorns will evaluate.

Kuony Deng, Independence C.C. — A teammate of the aforementioned Johnson, Deng is a solid junior college prospect in his own right. He visited UT for the Heat Wave recruiting event and is no on the radar. He holds a handful of offers with his biggest being Texas A&M.

Treven Ma’ae, Bishop Gorman (NV) — We haven’t talked much about Ma’ae, but he is an out-of-state prospect the Longhorns have taken a look at. Ma’ae holds some big offers from Oklahoma, Oregon and USC. It will be interesting to see if UT jumps in the mix.

I don’t feel good about Leal. After his other OV’s hes still committed to a&m. And after his bama OV he said they were tied with a&m. Nothing about Texas. They’ve sold him on the sec.

Maybe if Texas has a good season I could see him flipping.

EJ after dark: Notes on Catalon, Cine, top 2020 targets

— Elite Mansfield Legacy defensive back Jalen Catalon is in the process of planning out his official visits. The only one that is set in stone at this time is Arkansas on October 6. However, Catalon said Texas would for sure receive an OV and added that the Longhorns are around the top of his list. I still have reason to believe UT is the favorite at this time. Texas safeties coach Craig Naivar has done an excellent job recruiting Catalon and should be able to seal the deal when he makes his decision in January, especially if the Longhorns win on the field.

— Four-star Trinity Christian Cedar Hill defensive back Lewis Cine wrapped up his official visit to Michigan last weekend and has now used three of his OVs. Next up on the schedule will be official visits to Florida and Georgia. So where does Texas sit at the point in the process? The Longhorns hit a homerun on his OV and will get him on campus for some unofficial visits this fall. Texas is surging here, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Longhorns land him at the end. Cine wants to make a decision this fall as he plans to be an early enrollee.

— Four-star 2020 Duncanville athlete Ja’Quinden Jackson did not make it in for the Texas Heat Wave event earlier this month, but that doesn’t mean his interest in the Longhorns has faded. Jackson still has Texas around the top of his list and should make a couple of visits this fall. Texas staffer Ra’Shaad Samples is a big brother figure, which is playing a big role in this recruitment.

— Don’t expect much early movement in the recruitment of elite 2020 Duncanville safety Chris Thompson. He wants to take his time with the process and has no plans to make a decision any time soon. Texas is doing a nice job of separating itself as a frontrunner at this point in his recruitment, but the Longhorns are already facing some stiff in-state competition from Texas A&M.

Taylor Estes: A look at Texas targets on offense at The Opening Finals

The stars will be headed to the Lone Star State later this week to compete against some of the nation's best 2019 and 2020 prospects at The Opening Finals, presented by Nike. The prestigious, invite-only competition has waved good-bye to its long-time hosting site on the Nike Campus in Beaverton, Ore., and has found a new home for the 2018 event at The Star in Frisco, an indoor facility constructed by Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Second-year head coach Tom Herman and the Texas staff have been putting in hard work and long hours on the recruiting trail in an attempt to lure the next wave of talent into joining the Longhorns. Texas currently sits with 10 verbal commitments in its 2019 recruiting class, which ranks No. 18 in 247Sports 2018 Composite Team Rankings and No. 2 in the Big 12 Conference, in addition to a solo commitment in 2020.

While the Longhorns will not have any offensive commits participating in the four-day recruiting event, they will have several key prospects in attendance come June 30. Horns247 takes a look at some of Texas' most sought after recruits on offense who will show off their skills at The Opening Finals.

The Longhorns are still slated to get an official visit, and they are holding ground in his recruitment. Yea I think they’ve sold the SECSESEC pitch well with him early and he bought in. He may flip to Alabama if he has any semblance of common sense,  but in all reality as long as Leal doesn’t go to Texas;  Aggy considers that a win, even though that’s idiotic.
