Watson will commit May 4th.

So how do we feel? I thought all signs pointed to Texas until he cancelled his unofficial but no one seems bothered so guess it’s nothing.

Didn’t he make his unofficial to ND and still taking his OV there?

I really, really hope Herman can get this thing turned around on the field, because it's obvious (at least at this point) that he is damn near perfect for this job off of it.

I was clamoring for him every chance I got to other alums before we hired him. Now we just need him to rectify some bad hires and we really will be a force again.

We say it every damn year, but this year is *especially* critical to win 9+ and be in conference contention. With Riley at OU, Jimbo at aggy, a flailing O at LSU, a weak Big12 relative to last season, a huge DKR showcase against USC, and a intense focus on Year 2 of Herman's tenure, this year on the field could be the impetus to building a true playoff contender for the next decade.   hyperbole.gif

Sure. One that was committed to OU sucks previously. So he's a 2%er.

Casey Thompson was an OU legacy.

The uncertainty with the Sumlin regime is the only reason he committed elsewhere. His dad is "letting him make his own decision" but he's really not. Fred Spiller is a redass aggie who wants his son at ATM. Spiller winds up at ATM unless Jimbo Aggins and #TheLitSilentAssassin really fuck it up.

I think Spiller is Aggy bound. I guess the silver lining is we don't have to play against him. He's an Aggy Legacy, you kind of have to concede those guys.

His bloodlines are a pity. I think Spiller is the best senior RB in the state of Texas. He's better than Glass, and I don't think it's very close.

Hey @OnAComputer at the end of your interview with Mrs. Floyd, am I correct that I heard her say that even though De'Gabriel wants to shut it down she's going to push him to look at 2 other schools closer to home? Not a surprise but it'll be an interesting variable in whether he sticks or not.

It's interesting that she didn't come to Texas on the official visit and instead deferred to her local family...that kid's going to have a tough decision to make closer to signing day.

I disagree COMPLETELY.

As a utility player he's better.  Faster as well.  As a pure H-back he's not.  Between the tackles Glass is a much better runner - stronger too.

He hasn’t taken us OV yet and see said she’s going to push him to visit other schools to take full advantage of his recruitment. She doesn’t want him to shut it down just yet. Will be interesting.

Do you happen to know why Chip hasn't offered at UCLA?

I don't recall why Isaiah Spiller is not being recruited. Herman likes a slot WR that has the ability to do things in the backfield and Spiller seems to fit that mold. Just higher targets on the board or off field issues?

Our WR board is insane and we have a shot at all of our top targets, no way in hell Spiller would be a priority there.

The only place Spiller would fit in our class is as a second change-of-pace back behind Cain, but given how aggy that family is, seems like that would be a waste of time and resources.

Another interesting note from EJ a couple days ago

— Floyd will also help the Longhorns in the recruitment of five-star Mater Dei (Calif.) athlete Bru McCoy. I’m told the Longhorns are working extremely hard to get him on campus without any other recruits as they want to roll out the ‘burnt orange carpet.’ McCoy has been in constant communication with the staff, including Director of Recruiting Bryan Carrington, so don’t be surprised if it happens this offseason.

I hadn't paid too much attention to McCoy since he's a long shot, but I'm going to now. Don't know if we'll get him on campus, but I really want to know what this staff would do with an entire weekend to go all in on one guy. Did we do that with any guys last cycle?

Just introduce her to Carrington.  Shut it down.
