I don’t believe any legitimate abuela would give anyone a pouch of HEB frijoles.

He let his dog shit in her yard and he didn’t pick it up. She’s trying to poison him.

HEB used to carry a HEB Natural turkey breast but I haven't been able to find one in the Waco stores since this summer. It's much better than the butterball one.

Interesting. We still have those in Houston.

I'm roasting three of these today, along with a half dozen turkey legs and four turkey thighs.  I'm gonna do different seasonings on each -- herbed butter on the breasts, cajun on the legs, not sure about the thighs, probably just a typical salt/pepper/paprika/garlic/onion rub.

Not food, but I bought a couple of these a few months back and they're fantastic.  I assume the rest of their in-house line of products is equally good.  They clean up super easy, are essentially non-stick (no Teflon though) and are oven safe to 450 F.  A pair of these fit side by side in my (very) conventional oven, which helps maximize use of space for big meals.

These are legit and keep selling out at my HEB. Come in a few flavors, but sea salt is just fine paired with some TD doña salsa. spacer.png

These are too damned expensive to justify. Literally twice the price of most chips. Pass

It’s one bag of chips Michael. How much could it cost? $10?

If you’re trying to save a buck on a bag of chips, you’re having too many bags of chips for what your Lipitor has you budgeted for.

I have not been in an HEB in three years before yesterday.

I would sacrifice all of you to be able to take one with me to Hawaii on Wednesday. Not having any truly great grocery stores outside of Texas makes you really appreciate HEB even more.

Haha no. I had stop through my hometown here in Texas because I’m moving from New York to there. I have yet to come across a grocery store anywhere in the US that is as good as HEB. Someone in New York tried to argue with me and say Wegman’s was just as good. That was some good laughs.

The only grocery store I have been to that was even close to an HEB was the Carrefour I went to in Tahiti. It was still a couple of rungs below HEB, but they were pretty cool. Any grocery store that wants to have a crepe machine making them fresh each morning is good in my book.

lol no. Anytime I mention places like this the reaction is invariably “something, something paradise.” I always say that what someone might see as paradise is what someone else from there just sees as home as well as where they earn a living. I spend a good deal of time listening to people talk about where they are from because of my job so I look at things a little differently. I see it as a cool place that lacks an HEB. That part, however, is not cool!

I think we can all agree the Bunker Hill location is the largest/nicest location in Houston, and I got worked at the butcher counter today. Asked for bone in ribeyes. The first one is fine, nice long bone, well marbled. The second one has a tiny bone, and a huge piece of tough fat on it. They shouldn’t have sold me the second one.

I shouldn’t have to watch them a microscope, but here we are.
