It's good. My favorite is at El Borrego del Oro on Ben White and Congress.

Taco Deli started the dona. Others now have better versions.

It's a ridiculously easy salsa to make.  Someone posted a good knockoff recipe here at some point.  I'll see if I can find it.

Jesus, whay JimmyJazz said. I've posted the recipe here at least twice. It's beyond easy and fucking deeeeeeelicious.

Agree with you both and I've made it several times at home. I just can't seem to dial in the smoothness. Or the color. Think I need to buy a new blender. I bet my Ninja would knock it out of the park, but then that thing would forever be limited to salsas and savory stuff.

I like those as well. Pretty sure I have both of them in my fridge right now. Give me the Taco Deli one for store bought though.

I use my vitamix, and it works great, fwiw.

why would using your ninja make it limited to just that stuff?

Yep, both are damned good. The TJ’s one keeps for slightly longer in the fridge. Man, liberal use of green sauce on my eggs is what is good in life.

$2. Used to be $1 (thanks a lot obama). Don’t sleep on this. Grab one next time you’re there….if Heb is even open.

Had it on a Fletcher's at the fair last year and it slammed and went hard for sure.

Bijan's mustard wasn't the only Longhorn product you had in your mouth last fall.

Ha. This has been in my fridge at my airbnb in Queretaro, Mexico this week. Been lovin it. I think there are 4 HEB's in this town. We checked one out yesterday. Was very nice. But for some reason they didn't do the hot, fresh HEB tortillas. Instead they had a popcorn section where a lady was popping it fresh and bagging it up.

That’s because those are terrible compared to what the average Mexican makes at home. Only white people think those HEB tortillas are great.

White people aren’t the reason HEB sells so many of those in Texas. I do think here in Mexico corn tortillas are more of a thing.

Flour tortillas are a relatively newbie, originating in Northern Mexico in the 16th century when wheat was introduced by the Spanish. Corn tortillas have been around since 10,000 BC. They each have their uses.

Anyone gotten the boudin stuffed jalapeno poppers? I once bought the sausage stuffed ones by mistake and will not be buying those again. I feel like the boudin ones could use a little cheese so I’m thinking about shoving a piece of cheddar in each. If you’ve gotten them before and don’t think it’s needs it let me know.

Ol' Herbie liked 'em.

I bought the boudin poppers a long time ago and put them in the freezer for at least six month. Thawed and smoked them and they were fuckin tasty. Would imagine their regular jap poppers to be the same

I liked them and the brisket ones are pretty good too

So yes cheese or no cheese? I don’t doubt they’ll be better than the sausage stuffed ones but my Cajun wife is a little skeptical. The brisket ones kick all kinds of ass though. They didn’t have them at my heb today

I would do cream cheese.

Why not just experiment. Do some with some without. Maybe try different cheeses. Maybe Bed Bath and Beyond- I don't know - I'm not sure you'll have time.

I’d go with a pepper jack with boudin, but not the shredded.  Off a block of three pepper.

Picked up the brisket ones this morning. Probably didn’t need them, but that’s what happens when you go shopping hungry on Super Bowl Sunday.

Taqueria Arandas and a thousand taco trucks in Houston were doing jalapeno emulsion sauce for decades before Taco Deli. That being said, their version is pretty decent. That also being said, a manager recently told me the company that makes the retail version doesn't exactly follow their recipes all the time so it is hit or miss and sometimes not available. If you really want it, you're better off buying it from Taco Deli if you there is one near you.

We got a batch of TD Doña this week and it was oily and a dark green color. Trashed it immediately.

I usually put a brisket rub on the outside and smother with some sauce about halfway through cooking

That was probably because it's made of oil and jalapenos

Maybe already mentioned, but didn't search back too far, and by "didn't search back too far" I mean at all.

Seconded.  I generally don't like flavored chips.  HEB had a dollar off on two packages of chips, so I thought I would try them. Very good.

I'm a big fan of El Yucateco.  Don't take much more than a few drops to light your ass up.

Yeah...I'm past the age where I enjoy "lighting my ass up."  If I do so nowadays, it's entirely inadvertent.
