Every time I've tried to order an egg on a burger the cashiers either say they can't do it, or they have to go ask a manager, who looks pissed off, who then goes to tell the line cook, who also looks pissed off. I've only been successful once, and the yolk was cooked all the way through, making the whole ordeal kinda pointless. I also don't like pissing off the people that cook my food.

What happened to Whataburger's "Just like you like it" campaign?

Once I made an Instagram post from Mexico and now I constantly have Mexican ads pop up on my feed. The McDonalds.mx site shows what appears to be a Big Mac with bacon. I always wanted to special order that.

it's not just the mcdonalds.mx site, chief.

Well, hell, now all I can think about is an enchirito.  My go-to order for the last 15 years (give or take a few) is #5 (Nachos Bell Grande) with crunchy taco, burrito supreme or DD taco supreme with no lettuce, an enchirito and a meximelt.  For that matter, I don't know that meximelts are on the menu any more either.

PSA:   Grubhub now delivers Taco Bell in most areas.

Missionary style green chile pork is the best taco they make.  1 of those bad boys is enough.  Wife likes the Mad Cow, but the consistency in fajita serving varies wildly location to location.

The only secret menu item that I think is worth it is the Torchy's green chili missionary, which is, as others have noted, by far their best taco.

+whatever.  That's a darn good taco.

I wish jack in the box would make the old Super Tacos. The last time I tried to explain it, they had never heard of it and they all swore that it had never existed.

Smoke much? Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I work with a guy that used to run inventory at the factory that produces the JITB tacos.  They're all pre-made and then frozen at the factory and shipped to JITB warehouses.  But before they're frozen, they do allow most of their employees to participate in QC.

In unrelated news, that coworker is quite fat.

That was a terrible story, bro. Esplain.

I was at a new location they were about to open to meet with the marketing director, and he (the founder) was in the kitchen.  We'd worked on some stuff together for a while so I got some good grub whenever I came around.  He'd come out a few times with different stuff for us to try, and I think it was the last one where he brought out that taco.  He cut it in half and told us to try it, and said this is going to be the "green chile pork, missionary style."   I took a bite and said "the last thing that is, is 'missionary'." And he said "yeah you're right, it's pretty pornographic."

Told you it was a CSB.

I took a picture of it and posted it on Shaggy- I'll try to find it.  Oh and f the Torchy's haters.

Wait they don't have monster tacos anymore?

That was easy:

"I can finally give a definitive answer on this thread. I was at the new Allen location today meeting with their marketing people, and the owner has been working on this "secret" menu kinda like what In-N-Out does. So he kept bringing out tacos for us to try. The winner was the Green Chile Pork, "Missionary Style." Flour tortilla, a flash fried corn tortilla (bubbly and still kinda chewy), green chile pork, queso, guacamole, queso fresco, pickled red onions, and cilantro. Double Decker taco for ballers. Holy shit!."

Monster tacos use taco sauce instead of salsa. How hard would it be to swap the sauce for salsa for us OGs?

Had no idea

This is key. This is the difference between liquid shits a few hours later or the next morning vs explosive diarrhea that I may not make it home in time for.

I don't think this is Secret Menu, but they don't seem to advertise it. Torchys Happy Hour includes 16 oz Lonestars for $2 each.

Wish you hadn't told me that.

Starbucks has a cup size called a “Short” that’s 8oz and not on the menu despite it being the size of your traditional standard coffee mug.  It’s usually about a $1.50 for a cup.

I don’t believe you.

Try for instance, the Enchirito, "originally on the menu in 1993, it has been on and off the menu numerous times."

From above link.  This is a total fail.  The Enchirito was a Taco Bell staple in the 70's.  Glad to know I can still go get one.

Yeah, they’ve been on the menu for a long long time. They used to serve them with a clear plastic lid and with 3 sliced block olives on top. I ate 6 of them at one sitting when I was 10 or 11. It was glorious.

Back in the day I'd order 8 of em with no lettuce. Does that mean they were just digging the lettuce out by hand? Guess I'm not surprised

Bring back the Bell Beefer!

You sent me down a rabbit hole.

I vaguely remeber this, but have no idea what the fuck makes a McDLT different from a regular burger.

Also, George with massive shoulderpads.

So if I ever wonder "What was Jason Alexander doing in 1985?" The answer would be McDonald's ads.

McDonalds didn't have a burger with tomatoes. McDLT was their first (I think) shot at it. Tried to appeal to adults, something McD has been bad at for ages (remember the arch deluxe). Failed.

Not sure when the homestyle burger came to the menu but it's only available in Texas afaik

It was different because of the massive amount of styrofoam used to keep the hot side hot and the cool side cool. I got the concept of keeping the veggies cool and crisp, but it was a lot of packaging.

The point-- the gimmick-- was the separate sides in the styrofoam container.  So the hot side didn't wilt the lettuce or warm up the tomato until you put the two halves together.  I don't recall it being a particularly successful fast food item.

And I remember that commercial but had no idea it was Jason Alexander, who was obviously not well-known at the time.  Cool find.

Man, that's exactly what I thought of as soon as someone mentioned the Enchirito! Was my standard order in my childhood along with taco supreme. I think it may be why I love Tortas so much! (growing up outside of Texas sucked)

Any restaurant worth a damn should be able to make whatever off-menu.  It just takes creative management.  I did 2 years at Wendy's in high school and we'd make custom orders all the time -- "oh, you want me to chicken fry a burger patty?  OK, it might suck, but here you go".  "You want half Frosty, half Coca-Cola, like a float?  OK, here you go."  The manager just had to decide on the price and we rang it up under "miscellaneous".

Not really "secret", but you can get the Chick-Fil-A chicken, egg and cheese bagel on a muffin, biscuit or regular lunch bunch.  Certain CFAs advertise this, but most don't.

CEC on a CFA biscuit = winning.

That's what pisses me off about Chic Fil A. I love the chicken, but I don't really want a fn' sandwich, just the filets, like they did in the olden days. And you can get it (secret menu item) exact same thing as the combo, but without the bun, but they charge a dollar more. How fucked up is that?

That's like G&M Steakhouse charging more for a hamburger than a cheeseburger, except that was perfect.

So throw the bun away and shut the fuck up.  Jesus.
