He  led his team to a Super Bowl and here are his career stats....

Hardly "below"average.

Try again.

Below Average, yes.  Two by definition Average seasons are his best.  In a throwing league, 3000 yards and 10INTs is hardly impressive.  Flacco threw for 2500 and 24 TD in half of 2018 and got benched.  He had two good seasons where Jim could protect him and not ask him to throw the ball more than 25 times a game.

Here is Ryan Tannehill's best years....average my dude, and Kap requires a very specific offense to be successful (one maybe 2 of 32 teams employ).  he is not plug and play for the NFL

And guys like Blaine Gabbert get chance after chance after chance. Let that sink in! He's still in the league! How many Super Bowls and playoff games and NFC Championship games as he been to?

What part of Gabbert had a better year than Kaepernick didn't make sense?

We have no idea what the settlement consists of.  I'm simply pointing out that Colin Kaepernick lost his job with his play on the field.  Losing 90% is generally a firing offense for a QB or a coach.

Yes but the entire team may have become ill suited to Kaep's style of play (due to a coaching change) and there may been no "book" on Gabbert's 9er incarnation at the time.

The following year Blaine turned to shit.

Declining Star! Still in the league though.

The majority of the NFL is ill suited to Kaep's style of play.

And there are PLENTY of declining QBs still in the league. In fact, the majority are either "in decline" or they're a "never were". And they are retaining roster spots.

and they all more easily fit in to the systems being run in the NFL today.  They are plug and play for better or worse.  Kap is not.

Paxton Lynch is a backup for the Seattle Seahawks. Do you think Colin Kaepernick might have been a suitable backup for the Seattle Seahawks. I do.

But no, Paxton Lynch, instead, is still suiting up. Paxton Lynch.

Wilson has never thrown below 61% completion rate in his career, Kaepernick has never thrown for 61% in his career

So Seattle should be forced to hire him because it's one of 3 places he makes sense?  Kap doesn't do reality, he has his agent throwing out the Patriots as a good fit.  Guys who only managed to hit 60% once in their career don't seem like the ideal to run the Pats system.

When a QB loses 90% of his games, he generally loses his job too.  Gabbert played behind the same OL.  He played in fewer games and won more of them than Kaepernick, even in 2016.  You're right that Gabbert was a poor QB.  You're ignoring the fact that Kaepernick was even worse.

Kap didn't want to play. Simple as that. He got his payday doing this. How are you this fucking naive? He never wanted to be a backup. At all. And that's fine. Not everyone does. This was calculated from the beginning. He played on the emotions of many communities, got a following and the NFL got tired of his shit and forced him to go away. He never wanted to play football again. It's why he settled without taking his "cause" any further. And he got a big payday from Nike. He got what he wanted.

But keep thinking he was blackballed.

Wow it seems this thread is identifying some racists among us.

Let's face it.....the NFL paid a shit ton of money to keep information covered up about the collusion.

If you cannot see that you need your eyes checked.

Bullshit, they paid him because it was cheaper and less detrimental to their image than dicking with lawyers, discovery, time, ect...

You really think the NFL owners got on their rich man group email and sent out an excel spread sheet BLACKBALLED: COLIN KAEPERNICK AND ED REED

Or is it more likely that he was asking for starter money, and nobody wanted a controversial and risky player at their highly paid and public QB position?

His skill set wasn't great for an NFL qb.

The Ravens are trying Lamar Jackson in an offense suited for CK, but he turned them down -

Could you please identify these racists?

No names but my guess is it would be some of the people that actually think he never played again because of his talent.

He was black balled pure and simple and the NFL is paying them off (rumored to be $80 million) to not have anyone in the league deposed.

You are kidding yourself if you believe otherwise.

From liberals: “‘Hey, don’t you know it was a Green Beret who told Colin to protest in the first place, told him to take a knee?’” Boyer lamented: “And I’m like, ‘I didn’t tell him to do anything. I definitely didn’t tell him to protest. What I did was meet with him, make suggestions on different ways to do it after he was already protesting. And worked with him to kind of come to a middle ground.’”

yep, and Boyer is trying to take a middle ground again. The problem with Boyer is his advice sucked.  A person doesnt have a "right" to be a douche at work and expect no consequences.  The boss has every right to terminate that hard headed person

The same people here that think it’s ok for someone to be fired for doing something off the job that their employer doesn’t care about are the same people that think Kap should be playing qb.

He’s not Mike Vick. He’s not worth the headache. No one is retooling an offense around him, because at best, he might be able to be a back up. Why doesn’t he go play for Carolina? They have a qb that used to do a fair amount of running.

Just like Tebow, he isn’t worth dealing with. Plenty of people decided not to watch the nfl behind him. And the nfl only cares about money.

I seriously doubt there was true collusion.  CK was clearly not a solution at starting QB and no team is going to put up with the circus for a back-up QB.  So yes the kneeling had an impact but I don't think it was because a bunch of owners got together and decided to black ball him.  Guys like Hardy, Pacman, etc etc...they were all starting talents.  You don't bring the circus to town for a guy that's going to hold a clip board.  No collusion is necessary to make that obvious decision.

CK thought he was more valuable that he really was. If he was a better player without all the baggage, he would play.

I dont think collusion is even an issue here. The NFL is not the government. The NFL is more akin to a club and a club can decide what kind of members it wants to have as long as the exclusion isnt based on race, gender, religion, etc.

exactly, there are plenty of shitty Qbs to choose from that come with none of the baggage of Kapernick

Hope he has a great season in the XFL next season

and the other rumor is 5 million and some donations to charity.  We don't know for a reason.  It is the best outcome for the NFL.  Those that want to declare victory can believe he got 60 million and those who don't, believe he got 5 and they simply paid him to go away.  It is a win win for both sides and the best possible outcome.

What was done to this "stupid douchebag" was not wrong. He douchebagged himself out of the market

His race is a HUGE part of it.  If you don't see that, then, I don't know what to tell you.

What exactly did he do?  Use his platform as a professional athlete to bring awareness to an issue he felt strongly about?  God forbid.

Can you do that at work and not expect consequences?  I doubt it

But without doing it first, the way it was done, nobody would have understood the purpose, if they had even noticed.

Moreover, religious expression by players has never been shunned, if Christian.

Still stupid and why it is not still being done.  The "protest" demonstration had nothing to do with their job and ultimately meaningless.

only #28-33 had a worse QBR than Kaps last two seasons, two were rookies (not 6 year players)

In the last year he played, #23-30 were worse (the 30 QBs who started the majority of their team's games that year, which is all PFR had), the next year it was #s 24-32 that were worse than him. I don't think this whole cherry-picking QBR thing is showing him as a guy who is 1. "barely" better than Nathan Peterman (QBRs of 13 and 6 the last two years. Thirteen. And. Six.) or 2. A guy not worthy of a backup spot in the NFL. We're comparing him to starting QBs in the NFL in these stats, but the argument is that he's barely better than Nathan Peterman. There's a reason Nathan Peterman's QBR isn't being shown in these stats.

Not to mention his top 2 receivers that year were Jeremy Kerley and some guy named Quinton Patton (who hasn't played since 2016). But let's not mention that. Same way we won't mention the 49ers had the worst total and rushing Defense in the league that year while blaming Kaep for a 1-10 record.

You could say that QBRs across the board have gone up in 2018, so maybe the game has passed him by, obviously passing has gotten better in the NFL for a multitude of reasons. I suppose that's an argument, but it doesn't address why every other QB in the PFR stats in 2016 still has a job and he doesn't. Statistically speaking. We know why he doesn't have a job.

There are 33 QBs employed in the NFL?  Your "facts" are incomplete.

Well the backups don’t generally generate stats so simply imagining them and then comparing them to a hypothetical Kap who hasn’t played in two years seems like an exercise in futility.

And certainly not fact

Forget about it.  ChickenSandwich is not going to admit that Kapernick was good enough to be signed by a team. According to him, he was worse than every starter and you cant compare him to backups because we have no way to know how good or bad the backups are

He's 31, hasn't played football the last two seasons, hasn't played well in five years and brings massive baggage and distraction to whoever signs him.  WTF would anyone sign this idiot as their backup QB?  Maybe Carolina wants to earn some SJW brownie points after the Richardson fiasco?

Being a middling backup qp is perfect for a protest/collusion act.  If CK was a top 5 qb then teams would still offer him and he couldn't claim victimhood.  And if he was inept then no one would buy the collusion story [insert your own political joke]

I dunno. We weren't discussing that, but yeah, I'd agree that no one would want to sign him based on the baggage.

At some point the distraction to the team isn’t worth whatever production you hope for on the field. A circus environment can derail an entire season, and every GM and HC had to know what their season would be about if they signed him. Had he vowed to not be a distraction and just play football, he probably would have been signed. If he would have accepted a backup role with no expectation of starting, also a good chance he would have been signed. Juice wasn’t worth that squeeze.

No not going under, but yes to declining market share. And not just to Vans, to that style of shoe.

I live in California and I don't see "sneakers" anywhere. Not in SF, not in LA. That's a fashion precursor.

Yep.  I wear my "retired" running shoes everywhere.  My daughter's a runner, too, but she won't do that.  She buys Vans.  So do most of her friends.

What was this millionaire protesting, please enlighten us

Police brutality and the kkkrooked kkkriminal justice system. But hey I get it, you're not affected so you think it's a facade or simply don't care, because you're not affected. I'm a disabled veteran and I love it. The opinion of those not impacted really doesn't mean anything to me. I know what it is. So !@#$ those that oppose, and continue to mask racism with fake patriotism. Fuck the anthem too. How many white people would stand for a song that talked about killing them in the 3rd stanza. Fuck a symbol that degrades me. I love people, not symbols. Whitesplaining doesn't move me.
