Rupturing a spleen or damage to the splenic artery is 100% life threatening. It’s the most vascular organ in the body. You can bleed enough internally pretty quickly to die without intervention.

I’m assuming one of those things happened here. Chris Simms had to have his spleen removed after rupturing it in a game in 2006. Needed a blood transfusion because of the blood loss.

I mean, I’m a bit biased because I work in heart surgery, but I’d argue the heart is the most vascular organ in the body…

It may be the most vascular organ in South Austin’s mom’s body if you play your cards right.  Or at all.

I know people "work in" oil and gas or finance or aerospace. But what does "I work in heart surgery" mean?

Im pissed. I went on Facebook and just as I was pressing the top of page button I saw a post that said 2 things " OB" and " banned"     but I'd already pressed the button and it went away , never to be seen again.

So, I came over here hoping and praying that Ketch and company finally had their credentials pulled. But no!!  Nothing!  Is there no god?  No justice!!

Probably a surgical assistant.  Can be a pretty good job.

Cardiovascular Perfusionist. I run the heart and lung machines (The Pump) in CV surgery.

A good CV first assist works a lot harder, and makes slightly more $. I have a sweet gig. Only (reasonable) career I regret not shooting for is CRNA (nurse anesthesia). Significantly More money, similar liability, slightly worse hours.

OTF is by far the best Texas YouTube channel. Not even close. Everyone is generally excited and happy to be on camera. I will say that Gerry is absolutely the MVP, and I probably wouldn't watch near as much if he wasn't involved.

Wonder if next year they'd consider adding an Xs & Os guy to breakdown game film with their own segment/show. Or are they too close to the program to "risk" having a segment that could be critical of plays/players/coaches?

I've thought of filling that gap and building tooling around that for next season.

If we had a library of all games and the ability to cut and draw on them and publish surlyhorns gifs and short vids off it that would be pretty great. Then we could have a show where people who actually know can come on and do it for an hour and talk through it.

It's a corner of the Texas market that is missing and someone could make some nice money and build a career out of it. If we had a version of The Film Guy strictly for Texas football, it would get a ton of views. Especially with Arch the next 2-3 years.

Yeah - the production value has to be pretty high though.

I tried to watch a Horns247 show last night with Chip Brown and Eric Henry on YouTube. Oof. Don't know how they keep the lights on.

Chip Brown was on SEC Radio this morning and Anwar Richardson was on College Sports Today yesterday and I found myself turning the channel after listening to each one talk for about 60 seconds.

How is it that people that bland, uninformed and unconnected are the ones that get on national shows and talk about Texas? It’s pathetic. Ben Hartsock tried in both instances, as he happened to be a host on both shows this week, to spark up the “Should Sarkisian bench Quinn Ewers” premise. Neither guy being asked shut that shit down and allowed a meandering conversation to ensue about it.

Also, Ben Hartsock is the dumbest of all hosts on XM. He’s genuinely a room temperature IQ idiot and he also never shuts up.

Agreed. It has to be professional.

But there is a clear opportunity for someone good at breaking down film to make a living out of this. Arch will bring a bunch of views from non-Texas fans.

Without speaking out of turn, I’ll just say that part of Bobby’s vision for OTF is bringing that to the table from a personnel perspective.

Thank god Bobby started OTF. Take that away and Texas media is an absolute joke and completely unlistenable.

The issue is the production. You can't cut corners and use stock streamyard bullshit. It has to be a lot more like Pat McAfee show etc.

Bobbyisms are my favorite thing to track day to day:

"I'm just putting that out there"

"I'm just being honest guys"

There are others that I can't think of.

i used to listen to XM College sports radio religiously, but the quality has fallen off the cliff.. but I think it's just a SiriusXM issue.

I see you trying extra hard with your punctuations and grammar this morning after CTJ called you out. I assume you meant to spell sundry, but sundy will do I suppose. At least you tried.

That's the next step OTF needs to take....increasing their production quality with regards to their mics, cams, and mobile broadcast stuff(especially this).  I'd even say they could stand to improve their graphics quality as well.

Listening to national radio stations is a you problem, plenty of great podcasts out there and you're willingly putting yourself in the mud

If you want to understand what a general perception is for something, you've got to cast a wide net. Not just listen to shit you agree with...it's why I still follow a couple of fucking idiots from HS on facebook.

"Jarveax" on OTF is my new favorite poster. I legit can't tell if he's a real 85 year-old man who doesn't understand anything happening around him, or if it's one of y'all fucking around. I lean towards the former.

I find myself often stunned by how old some of those guys over there are. @Armybrat would be just one of legion septuagenarian - nonagenarians over there. They almost outnumber the posters using their real names.

Do you ever see those AI/bot pages that post longhorn stuff? One came up in my feed the other day saying Quinn was expecting twins with his girlfriend, another was we got a huge commitment from a 7 ft tall receiver who was committed elsewhere?

I read and listen to all kinds of shit. I find myself more bored with talking heads who constantly agree with me than I do some of the idiots coming from all over the place.

No. Clearly my search history and therefore ad targeting is vastly different from yours.

My guy Jarveaux the other day told Gerry Hamilton he should be ashamed of himself because he said something slightly uncomplimentary about Quinn Ewers. It's awesome.

I think that guy has a pretty good setup. I like his content, even if he literally gasps for air every three seconds.

I talked to Bobby about this just this morning actually even before posting here. There's also a need to do more cross pollination and syndication when facing opponents (having luicci on is smart, but went underleveraged).

The content they put out is of absurdly high quality and there are often 1-5 minute stints of absolute fucking greatness that have a shelf life of a few days to a week. All it takes is effort and clipping and production, but right now it's honestly a bunch of dudes grinding it out and "making it happen".
