The $2.4 trillion isn't going to Amazon but cars, higher rents, clothes, strip clubs, HYPER INFLATION, and other shit where the sales tax won't make up for the biggest deficit in human history X 100 bazillion. I think Yang should be deported to a Chinese slave camp. Ok?

This seems smart

That is some freaky stuff but I don't have room to judge as I am a freak as well.

Maybe grassroots advertising?

I mean, hell, he's only raised a few hundred k.

You have people running that have raised millions and have not even a policy point to talk about.

I can't understand how a grassroots movement isn't good enough for you all. He's making his platform clear with literally no money

And yes, 2.4 trillion is the number, but it's much smaller once you consider that even the savings from it will cut it in half, then a VAT that will help us actually capture taxes from Amazon, Google, Facebook, and others, since they live tax free.

Those savings are going to come from what? Mass layoffs of government workers? You actually think that will happen? Counting on those savings is like counting on gambling winnings to pay your mortgage.

Don't tell anyone, but 800 billion of those savings is from a sort of consolidation of welfare programs.

The other savings, a statistic he used from the Roosevelt institute, "We currently spend over one trillion dollars on health care, incarceration, homelessness services and the like.  We would save $100 – 200 billion as people would take better care of themselves and avoid the emergency room, jail, and the street and would generally be more functional.  Universal Basic Income would pay for itself by helping people avoid our institutions, which is when our costs shoot up.  Some studies have shown that $1 to a poor parent will result in as much as $7 in cost-savings and economic growth."

That's just a couple hundred billion that is coming from the "hidden savings" that you wouldn't want to count, because gambling...

old people will still get sick, people will still have diabetes, cancer and all types of diseases.  The savings on healthcare will not be that much as $200bil.

in fact, people will get fatter.

Jail will be much reduced by getting rid of stupid drug laws, not by the $1k month.

Taxes on Amazon, Google and the rest won't pay for the $2.4 TRILLION.  Amazon isn't even WORTH a trillion, you think we can squeeze a lot from a group of 5 companies?

only idiots support Yang. Maybe he's auditioning for his own TV show in the future, that has to be it.

Ok.

There's a lot of shit in this post, but let's break it down.

There are 4 different ways it adds up to 2.4 trillion.

The "savings" through a semi consolidation of welfare programs.

The VAT (which doesn't tax only 5 companies, which is a hilarious assumption...)

The economic stimulus

And the "dark savings" which is what we'll call it.

Jail will be reduced by getting rid of stupid drug laws, but will also be reduced through this. It's not surgery. You could go read his platform, but that might be too much for you (yang2020.com if you're interested)

Studies actually show the opposite when it comes to health and nutrition, though, but you know, that's just science shit.

And no, it's not only idiots that support him.

Go read his shit, then you'll at least be arguing from some point of fact.

first of all, it was you who mentioned the FAANG companies which pay no taxes. I doubt taxing them and all other no-tax firms will produce anything more than $100bil.

poors will eat more, drink more, buy more drugs. They have very bad habits which will be amplified by more money.  Apartment rents in shit hoods will skyrocket because landlords can charge more. Rents will also go up in upper level areas.  Home prices will increase out the wazoo. Inflation nation buddy.

The rich won't spend the money, the poors will blow it on stupid crap + rent.

Good thing only 1% (probably his family only) support this clown.

Like i said, deport his ass back to China.

I would suggest you read his book, but I don't think you'd do it.

By all means, judge everything before you take in any information.

It's clear to me, though, that Yang is much, much more intelligent than you. He's actually looked at it from all sides and come up with a comprehensive argument.

His book is called "the war on normal people"

Yeah, I know, it's wasted on you, but others may read it so it's not a total waste of words

you are his only proponet (afaik) on this website.  The burden is on you to give mathematical proof of his wild economic theories. The rest of us are  too busy scoping porn and sports scores to read a fucking book by some nutjob.  Basically, his estimates are overblown by miles and miles, economic speculation keeps a lot of dorks in business, but it's not real world.

Hole eee shiiiiit.

So, this is why you refuse to educate yourself.

I get it.

You don't need to disprove what he's written, just say no, lol, that's wrong.

Stop trolling this thread

Since you didn't catch on the first time, that 800 billion comes with massive layoffs of government workers. Anytime a company starts talking about consolidation means they are laying people off. And there is no way that the government will have massive layoffs, especially as a result of a Democratic president and/or legislature.

No. This is just not true.

The figure, which if I remember correctly is 600-800 billion, is the amount of money that is basically diverted from current welfare programs to this program from the people who would opt in because it's greater than or equal to their current welfare benefits.

That's it, and all

His ideas aren’t as unfeasible as you are making them out to be.

We voted Trump in.  This guy and his ideas are 1000x better.

So ease up on the ‘hurrrr durrrrr LOL LMAO HAHAHA’.  It’s unbecoming.

Stop getting fixated on the perceived notions of his supposed support.

He's the only one talking about it. It's coming, and we as a nation won't even see it when it happens.

It happened already and it brought out work force participation rate down to around 65%.

turns out my $2.4 Trillion  ANNUALLY was on the conservative side, it's actually $3 Trillion.  All this will be financed by phantom savings (murder will be way down, jails will be emptied, and people won't be dying of diseases)  and taxes on large corporations (won't produce more than $100bil incremental tax revenue).  I love it, the entertainment value is cutesie.

Trump defines wacko.  Literally.

That'd be cool.

I can't bring myself to sub to Shapiro, I'd hate that playlist

He's a very interesting candidate. A true numbers guy and an actual economist.

He's checking all my boxes so far, for sure

He's definitely the smartest guy in the race.

Here's a data guy. No one else has a policy that will deal with the coming onslaught of the tech world.

I don't know how you all see it, but automation, the shitty metrics we use, and the fact that no one else is even seeing the real problems coming, well, neglect him at your peril.

I get it, his road to the White House is unlikely, but we're going to get nothing but more of the same from any other candidate. Then we're going to go through a few years of crushing recession, all while GDP is going to be telling us we're fine.

This country is going to fuck itself. And hopefully I'll be able to survive

If he brings more attention to the future realities of things like automation and AI and the impact on specific jobs in certain sectors, then that's a good thing.  I believe it may be coming sooner than some might think and the possible ramifications could be significant for an unprepared populace.  The social stratification between those that can understand and adapt to the changing economy and those that can't could possibly dwarf later on the current income divisions amongst the top 1/10/50 percent etc as they exist today.

Not sure we know much about Yang but he could potentially confound trump. Trump would call him a nerd, and Yang would agree.  Yang could also take away trumps appeal to the under-employed working class because yang would basically say we need to do more to get them back to work.
