Berger is streaky. He can get hot fast, I wouldn't worry about him just yet, just enough to not play him this afternoon.

Exactly. Getting a point on the board should settle him down for the rest of the weekend.

yep.  Berger played well enough in this format.  still got the 2 & 1 win.  we'll all take that.

great start again.  Brandel had the numbers.  we actually do well in the first morning session.  it's the afternoon fourballs where we get clowned.  need to step it up.

We were up 3-1 in Paris after the first session, hopefully this one turns out better.

Xander/Cantlay obviously need to go straight back out.  DJ and Spieth also need to play again this afternoon.  The question is whether Koepka and/or Morikawa can go again.  My guess is that Stricker rests them.  Berger and JT should sit which means 2-4 of the rest (Scheffler, English, Finau and Bryson) will play.

finau and bryson are going out for sure.  I'm not sure JT sits(not saying he shouldn't).

In 4 balls I think our 2 most consistent drivers need to play with Bryson and Speith.  Those 2 guys can't be thinking about what their partner did off the tee.

I wouldn't call Scheffler consistent off the tee (not looking at stats so maybe my perception is wrong)

DJ / Xander vs Casey/ Wiesberger - W

Bryson/Scheffler vs Rahm/Hatton - L

Finau/English vs Rory/Lowry - L

JT/Cantlay vs Fleetwood/Hovland - on paper, I'd say easy W but not sure JT is going to contribute much.

Either way, ending the day at 5 (or 4.5) to 3 (or 3.5) is a solid day's work.

the only reason i could see Stricker playing Cantlay and Thomas is that Cantlay is steady Eddie who will be in all the holes, and maybe JT can play his way out of his funk by being more aggressive.

but i don't like this.

I assume he rested Koepka and Morikawa (fine), benched Berger (fine) and chose JT over Spieth (stupid).

Splitting Xander and Cantlay is idiotic.  Why not just pair DJ and JT?  Also worried that Rory will get his mojo back against English/Finau.
