So this may be a terrible question that opens me up to ridicule but are there any good breweries in Las Vegas to check out? I'll be there Monday evening flying solo so other than going to a casino, I can't think of much else to do. All the shows are dark.

I was in Vegas two weeks ago. Started at a cool bar called Aces and Ales. They had a great selection. I asked the bartender about any cool breweries in the area and they pointed me to Big Dog Brewing. Their beers were good and the food was great.

So I went to main street station, w hi ich is a hotel casino and brewery.  I don't remember if it was good or not because I was already drunk.  But it was good enough to drink, plus it was like $2 a pint.

The current craft beer snob conventional wisdom that Fireman's 4 isn't worthy somehow is weird to me. That said, response seems a little disproportionate.

I can't really tell what's going on in that exchange. Both serious? Both joking? One joking and the other thought they were serious?

Its a bad tweet by Hi Sign for that reason. If they’re joking, it doesn’t come off that way. If they’re serious, they’re being ridiculous.

Twitter is pretty stupid in general, and they both come off looking like asses.

Anyway, Fireman's 4 is fine, at places like Pluckers that generally have very little craft beer, I'm happy to drink it.  If there is a wide variety, I'll typically order something else.

Fireman’s 4 is a really well made blonde ale. If you don’t like it or find it boring, you probably just don’t like blonde ales.

There are plenty of Belgian blonde ales that I love.  I do find Fireman's 4 somewhat boring compared to those beers, and it's not because I don't like blonde ales.

But I do agree with your sentiment that it's a well made beer and there's nothing "wrong" with it.  Like I said, I often drink it at places where it's one of few craft beers, and I'm happy to do so.

I bought a Real Ale mixed 12 pack this week.  I really like the Devil's Backbone and the Axis IPA.  Don't mind the Fireman's 4 and find the Han's Pils refreshing outside on a hot day.

While I agree with this in general, the best and highest use of twitter is related to alcohol and food.

I remember when it was a really big deal and appreciated to find Fireman’s 4 (as the only craft beer alternative) at the State Fair food pavilion during Texas-OU years ago. Having said that, I haven’t drunk one in many many years.

If anyone is looking north of Austin.  Spec's in Round Rock has several on the shelf.  Not my jam, so I left them for someone else.

I'm going to list it all when I get home but I'm halfway through a Colorado vacation and have had some great beer that I can't get at home.  Sitting outside under the stars sipping on Telluride's Tempter IPA and enjoying it.

Chillin at courtyard brewery in NOLA. Good rec from the surlyists. I’ll post pics if I ever sober up and learn how. It’s quite the eclectic place with AstroTurf, an above ground pool, broken school chairs, and 3 year old Mardi Gras beads lying around.

Have any of you mooks had anything from Tupps? Seeing their stuff around Austin.

Yes, I’ve enjoyed what I have had from them although they had a 100% centennial hop ipa that was awesome (similar to 2 hearted). It appears to be gone and replaced with new ipa I have not tried.

On a similar note, just ran into another brew from Mckinney that I hadn't seen. Franconia? Had a hefe so I'm interested.

Great...so Four Corners will be available in more locations for me to never consider buying.

And taking up valuable shelf space that could be used for much better beer.

But I guess that’s the whole point.

Mostly at Targets and World Markets though.

Joseph james is the only one that is passable

I tried some different breweries that were local. Has the Joseph James Citra Rye Pale Ale which was pretty good. Went to Banger Brewing off Fremont. The beers were decent. The Morning Joe Kolsch was really good.
