Well those were two miserable games in front of apathetic crowds with terrible announcers.

I hope for something better tomorrow, although the crowd and the announcers will be the same.

Stanford's crowds always have an "apathetic" feel in baseball which is kind of odd given they are normally good.

What am I missing here?

There were less of them than usual.  Stanford was never rowdy but they know their baseball.

Yeah, I've been to a couple Stanford games with family on the West Coast. In terms of being hospitable/friendly  they're probably near the top. They were all fun to interact with.

But it was odd attending their games. It's like Texas basketball fans but 30X worse in terms of being apathetic.

west coast apathy. Thursday's game had 907 people in attendance. Friday's game had 1400 people.  If you go and look at the previous series (2017?), IIRC they also had a game where less than 1000 people showed up

Pierce is going to have to get creative. Ford deserves more opportunities before he is written off this year but you may have to see if Kennedy can play 2B, move Tate back to LF, and play Sam at 1B.

Kennedy’s speed is valuable in the outfield and to move him to 2B would be a mistake imo

Catcher is what it is. Get well soon, McCann.

Priority number one needs to be to stabilize SS. Put Hibbeler there, and play around with 2B as necessary. We'll have to take our lumps with Kennedy at LF, the damage is limited there and he's good at the plate. No need to put more mental stress on him.

I wouldn’t be against just swapping Hibbeler and Reagan. Reagan has it athletically and putting him in a less stressful position might help. If it doesn’t then you got Ford.

What about Bryson Smith in middle infield. He is a Junior by grade, and started 1 year at Western Kentucky. Decent numbers on his stat line from that year. Is this guy even an option?

The 4-2 score feels like a blow out in some ways

Because it really should have been.

The fact that this team, with all of its deficiencies and holes is where they are right now is actually amazing.  DP is earining his money.

The catcher and short stop positions being what they are for us right now is like trying to run the 40 yard dash after being shot in the thigh with a nail gun.

So far minus this series, Texas has had to deal with errors but their bats would make it up. Idk about Stanford but Texas left a bunch of RISP.   In baseball your fielding  needs to be automatic because the probability of a team not being able to hit on a certain day is greater than a team not been able to field. Texas is making  this game a lot harder by putting more pressure on the bats than there needs to be.

It is an obvious statement but Augie’s teams were good because the fielding percentage was awesome and he used small ball to achieve runs easier. I don’t think this team has a good enough lineup to consistently produce a 4 to 6 run inning.

Was there a pickoff other than Peter at second yesterday?

Don't remember one, but there was one at first that was damn close ... by the catcher. IMHO if you get picked off at first by a catcher, even a great one, you should just stop playing baseball.
