How Fox News works

Yeah, that’s all good and shit but it’s just another example of a partisan, obstructionist GOP asshole who led the way on the march to crazy town and is now speaking out against those who followed his lead and passed him by. Boehner sucked. He only looks better now because his fellow Republicans have gone further down the hole of suckitude. (He was also orange before orange was fashionable.)
I recall my uncle asking me at a Christmas dinner* one time what I thought of the new House Speaker from Cincinnati. This was the same uncle who ordered the Jerry Falwell-distributed Clinton Chronicles videotape and showed it to my family during a holiday get together in the early 90’s (and everyone gobbled up that bullshit like it was gospel truth). I told him I didn’t know but I was pretty sure he would just be an obstructionist and that’s all he was. Congrats, John. (Coincidentally also the name of my uncle.) You were anchored enough to reality not to accuse Obama of being a secret Kenyan Muslim. It’s nice that you’re finally speaking out about it NOW you fucking tool. Yeah, I’ll try to pass this article around to some of my family members but I’m not about to buy his fucking book.

* My mom’s side of the family comes from a small town in northern Indiana. That Christmas, an uncle (not John) and aunt wanted to host everyone at their place on Christmas for pizza. I assumed maybe they were planning to bake pizzas. (All the families had already celebrated separately.) But no, they were just planning to order from Papa John’s. (Will these coincidences never cease?) Lo and behold, the Papa John’s in this tiny town of a few thousand people was CLOSED ON CHRISTMAS! Who could have seen that coming? So they had everyone over for soup. Because nothing says Christmas like a bowl of soup.

To be fair, the wise men didn’t exactly bring a stuffed crust meat lovers special to the manger either.

Nor a ham which is what my family typically has for Christmas lunch. But for a casual large family get together, pizza makes a lot more sense than soup. The fact that they didn’t foresee a small town pizza shop being closed on Christmas is the first indictment. The fact they opted for soup instead (three kinds!) just made things worse.

My mom never spent Christmas with her aunts, uncles, and cousins, and their kids, when she was an adult and she is utterly incapable of understanding why I’m not interested in doing so either. That’s a whole other story but I’ve tried to point it out to her more than a dozen times and it’s like I’m talking to a brick wall. She can’t comprehend. I can’t even get an, “I understand what you’re saying, but...” It’s like I’m speaking a foreign language.

This.  Fuck you guys who helped build the bonfire, start the fire, fan the initial flames, and then want credit for tossing a couple of glasses of water on the raging fire.

You want REAL contrition?  Admit that what you supported was wrong, and did harm.  And actively work against the results of that.

If you don't do that, fuck you, arsonists.  Burn in hell with the rest of em.

Have I got a book for you:

Pete's particularly good because he lays his points out very matter-of-factly in an "explain it to me like I'm five" kind of way with a smile on his face while never getting emotional.  He comes off as clear, concise, and logical, and he is a much better orator than I gave him credit for in the primaries.

He's kind of what Ben Shapiro thinks he is and wishes he is but isn't, because Shapiro always comes off as bitter, angry, and condescending, and his arguments are clearly actually driven by his feelings and emotions even though he and his supporters think he's all facts and logic, all the time.

So I was a little tiny kid when Jimmy Carter was President.  The media spent a lot of time reporting about his train wreck brother too.  Have we had any other siblings/kids in the news since old Billy?

However, I thought we decided awhile back that the children of presidents were off limits?

But it's like Joe Biden just doesn't register with them, so they have to make it about Hunter or Kamala Harris or AOC.   It's honestly hard to even get a read on what motivates these people at this point.   It seems it really is as simple as Biden being an old white guy inoculates him to a degree, and they really don't care about anything other than the most superficial layer possible.  Like if he were a minority, or a woman, or a younger white guy they resent for being cocky/successful, or a guy with troubles, or even just a nerdy older white guy they would be all over him. I don't even think it's all racism or sexism at this point.  It's just like they're junior high bullies looking for someone to pick on.  If anything seems different or like a weakness, or if something makes them jealous, then it doesn't matter what it is.  But it better really fucking simple and superficial and require no thought about actual politics at his point for them to even get it.   Joe Biden is somehow completely average enough in every way to not elicit any feelings, I guess.

This seems correct.  It's just wild.  These people have lizard brains.

I guess Mr. Mudflap thinks a dress above the knees and some leggings are less classy than being the first and only first lady who has nude lesbian porn on the net.  Such class!!!

Also, that second tweet coming from the same guy who defended Thigh-Land coming from the Orange Goblin's mouth.  SMH at the shameless hypocrisy.

Hey, did you all know Fox now has a late night show that launched last night?  It's their attempt at comedy/talk show/whatnot.  No, I'm serious.

The first night did not go so well.

https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/greg-gutfeld-fox-news-late-night-1234943301/

Quote

Each weeknight, Fox News Channel’s primetime opinion hosts seek to own the libs. Greg Gutfeld says he wants to own some laughs.

In an unorthodox maneuver, executives at the Fox Corp.-owned cable-news outlet will explore whether jokes and satire can capture a crowd after 11 p.m. with “Gutfeld!,” which debuts Monday night. Fox is the latest in the media industry to try and blend news and comedy into a hybrid it hopes will sell.

Quote

Fox News executives want people to compare Gutfeld to  the late-night options  already standing in his new hour: Comedy Central’s “Daily Show,” TBS’ “Conan,” ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” NBC’s “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and CBS’ “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” Fox even went so far as to buy up local commercials for “Gutfeld!” on TV stations and cable systems that run those programs, and put up a billboard for the show on Hollywood Boulevard in proximity to the theater where Kimmel tapes his show. Of course, Gutfeld will also square off with more traditional 11 p.m. rivals, like CNN’s Don Lemon and MSNBC’s Brian Williams — and may be judged more seriously on how his show performs against them.

Think about how much people who don’t like sports are subsidizing your access to ESPN (which at least used to be the highest priced channel on cable). Also think about how much the home shopping networks are subsidizing everything else you might want to watch. I agree it would be nice, but it might actually turn out to be more expensive if you got what you want.

If they unbundled, I highly doubt the overall price would go up for me. What's the absolute maximum ESPN could expect to get enough people to pay per month for all their channels...$25? I'd just need that and FS1 and maybe CNN. I'd guess I could get those for under $75.

Anyway, how do you figure QVC is subsidizing my cable? I'm wondering whether you meant home shopping viewers, as just a random example, or is there something I don't know about home shopping channels (very likely)?

Joe Biden is saying enough things that they supposedly should hate where they really should be flipping out on him more than they are.  All the stuff about tax hikes, minimum wage hikes, relaxing immigration rules (even if not as much as the leftwing would like), green energy transformation, etc., should have them on Defcon 5 freaking out about Biden being a communist based on their usual playbook.   Then there's the return to political correctness after the Trump circus, which should have them up in arms about woke thought police.   Biden stutters, he says things that are wrong which he has to walk back - they're not lacking for material if you apply the same standards they had for Obama and for Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Part of the Trump era consequences was blurring policy lines between parties.  You had tariffs, Russia footsie, odious regulation of private companies, nihilism all coming from the right.  I think it became harder for the right to be clear what they were for.  The only clarity was the continued culture wars.  So that is what is continuing now strongest.

The shopping channels pay the cable companies to carry their networks.
