How Fox News works

retread

Recommended Posts

Well, I made it all the way to 6:00am without heading to foxnews.com

Top 5 stories on Fox arranged at top of landing page:  School mask mandates, Boston bomber receives Covid relief check by mistake, Juror updates on Maxwell trial, Chicago teacher's unions (actually a legit big story), and Antonio Brown interview.

But coming in at a respectable #6, buried underneath all that important American history is the one year anniversary of the FBI/Antifa false-flag assault on our Capitol.

Meanwhile, around the world where Trump was gonna make us stronger---Capitol Attack #1 story on BBC, Reuters, and countless others across the globe.

Shockingly none decided to run with the school mask mandates or Antonio Brown stories.

Doocy reminds me of Vince Vaughn in "Anchorman" when doubting the Nielsen rankings of evening news.

You are 17x more likely to be hospitalized if you are unvaccinated and 20x more likely to die.  Scientific fact!

"Uh, those numbers are flawed and you know it Jen.  They don't take into account unvaccinated people with less than 2 symptoms and more than 2 assault rifles!  And other things......of that nature!"

This is absolute lunacy and dangerous for the Republic.  This Washington Post article is beyond bonkers.

"Thanks for joining us and you've definitely made me wonder what happened that evening. I'm sure the textbook companies are hoping this theory just goes away......Later today on Fox Nation-- you've probably believed all your life that hitting your dick with a hammer would hurt.  But stay tuned for our next guest, who just might get you to reconsider."

Fox intern, "So is that a yes, Mr. Taylor?  We can have a car there for you at 3 o'clock."

Weird that Fox is coming for Lincoln, the only other President who Trump ever discusses favorably.  Actually, the only five Presidents besides himself, Trump ever mentions are Washington, Lincoln, Clinton, Bush, and Obama.  That's weird.  I bet all I could beg, borrow, and steal that Trump can't name ten presidents aside from himself.  Meanwhile my retarded sister can name at least ten without any prompts.

Sure, this was beyond settled at the time, but none of those witnesses are alive anymore so no one is here to controvert what we say.

Up next, this latest policy is just like the holocaust and here’s what MLK really meant, which incidentally won’t be controverted by holocaust survivors or MLK because we’re pretty much out of those.

I don't know this David Taylor fellow (apparently he has Eli Cash's editor), but he missed a golden opportunity to go on FoxNews and have some serious fun.

"Look, a lot of people are saying maybe Booth didn't kill Lincoln.  Lotta people, tremendous people...very bright people...the best.  You know back then, you had a lot of killers.  Lotta killers back then.  What, you think Lincoln was so innocent?"

Lincoln's assassin shouted "Sic semper tyrannis" after killing him, which is rarely discussed, but clearly brings up the question of whether his assassin was Antifa.

And if his assassin was Antifa, wouldn't it stand to reason that he was BLM and CRT as well?

Reminds me I heard the Oath Keepers attorney this morning on the news.  He said something about how the group was called there to protect the Capitol from Antifa.  Okay, valid defense.  It's bullshit but it's a defense you can run with.  but then he continues, "they were also there in case they got the callup from the President."  And he said it in the context of the National Guard and DC troops.  As if the Oath Keepers was a group that fell under the Commander in Chief's jurisdictional conscription.  I don't envy this lawyer's job with that kinda defense, "Uh, the regular President usually lets us bring assault rifles inside the walls!"

they mentioned it last night on cnn, but a lot of the specifics in these text conversations have already been reported on.  these are encrypted messaging apps, and they have not gone through the legal process to subpoena them.  this means that somebody is already spilling the beans about their contents.

oath keepers = oath flippers

Well, you don't want to be the 4th or 5th guy to spill the beans, because you're not going to get as sweet of a deal with the feds as the first guy.

Hannity trying to laugh off the Booth Business school is comically bad as it’s always the top business school in the country. “OmG cHiCaGo Is AIDS”It’s like someone laughing off that Nicky Saban fella.

To make it Austin related, David Booth opened up Dimensional Fund Advisors here in Austin. It’s the big ass building near Hotel Granduca. Gave a 300 million gift to UChicago to have the school named after him. Eugene Fama was a big name that used to come in quite often.

Expertise is frowned upon in Republican circles. They don’t trust “liberals” with all their book-learnin’ and knowin’ shit.

Yeah, that was pretty bad.  "The prestigious booth institute at Chicago."  Hannity doesn't realize he just underminded the economic school of thought that shaped the entirety of the man who built the channel that employs him.  Because...you know...he's stupid.  I'd love to get a hot take from some of our resident Trump bootlickers on that faux pas.

Side note---did you work at Dimensional before or?

I heard that he bought the Bella Oaks tract from/with Heitz Cellars.  I think it's the one thing he still shares with his ex-wife in terms of assets/projects.  IIRC, at the time it was the most valuable piece of vineyard acreage in the whole of California Wine Country, something like $5-$10mm/acre.  I'm guessing given his analytical proclivities, it was a wise investment.  Since this is a CR thread, I'll say that he seems to be sort of apolitical or just touched what he needed to in order to keep his advisory thriving.  Obviously people like that just operate above the fray of politics because they see shit we just can't.  Pretty nice fringe benefit---wine and cheese event at most businesses is some shit they grab from 7-11, Costco at best (NTTAWWT).  But to have a guy like David Booth curate (I hate that verb but it seems appropriate here) the actual hooch...that's a damn nice perk.

Anyway, now that I've had some wine.  I was thinking about Hannity and the Booth School Professor interview.  But thinking is hard so I gave up after about 30 seconds over pizza and wine just now.  But there's a 'Dumb and Dumber' joke in here somewhere.  UofC remade economic theory, and then that brushes up against previous Austrian economic theory.  Hannity writes this guy's CV off as low-level.

But I bet dollars to donuts to Booth wine that if somebody told Sean, "That guy you insulted is a thought leader in Chicago Economics theory...I don't know if you know your Austrian economic theory either..."  And Sean, like dumbass Lloyd Christmas would slap back with, "Yeah, I know Rupert and his politics okay?  I'm his favorite host!  Chicago is just a liberal hotbed...he wouldn't have anything to do with their bullshit economics.  He'd be more in line with Austrian economics.  You know his homeland, 'G'day mate...let's put another shrimp on the barbie in the name of individual freedoms'!  I get it folks."  Again, there's a joke in there somewhere between UC/Austria/Australia and Sean being a fucking morong.

Because Milley had the nerve to say to the military that it was a mistake to walk with Trump through Lafayette Park after using tear gas and flash grenades to disperse peaceful protestors in order to pose for a photo holding the Bible in front of St. John’s Episcopal Church back on June 1, 2020. Thou shalt not oppose anything Trump does or thou art the enemy.

I'm sure she doesn't mind if we laugh at every Trumpkin/Qanon type that fucks around with COVID and makes sure everybody they know on social media knows they are FAFO, skips the vaccines, and dies as a result.

I mean, at this point when somebody is unvaccinated for no other reason than politics and they get COVID and get fucked up, to me, it's no different than some guy saying "hold my beer" as he steps out of his vehicle to get a selfie with a bison or a bear and it ends poorly.

There was a segment this morning on CNN (gasp!) that showed all of the Fox News chyrons over the past few weeks.  Holy shit.  It's just straight fear porn.  "America's Cities are Apocalyptic Hellscapes!"  This channel has poisoned its viewers and has created a completely false reality that they aren't smart enough to see for what it is.  History will not be kind to the role they have played.

This has been true for a LONG time. Even back before they were selling the “Dems have made every American city a cross between Calcutta and Fallujah!” (which, of course, is utter bullshit). Back then, it was “Muslim terrorists are coming to kill you everywhere!”

Shit, I remember quite a few years ago when we were planning a trip to Europe, some of our Texas family and friends (of the Fox News crowd) wrung their hands and told us we were taking an unreasonable risk, because the mooslem terrorists were killing people left and right over there, don’t take any trains or planes! And once you’re there, they’ll rape you! When I pointed out that the statistical facts made it clear that the riskiest part of our trip was the drive to the airport on a Texas highway, they looked at me like a puzzled dog.

Facts and reason are a foreign language to the Fox News fear porn crowd.

Noted here before... My dad and his wife did not want to come visit us this past summer out of fear about the anarchy in Seattle and Portland. We live in the far north west suburbs of Seattle, and three hours from Portland.

When they got here, they were stunned at how "normal" everything was. Did it change their perception? Maybe cause them to reconsider watching Hannity and Carlson?

Nope. "Sure glad they cleaned it up before our visit!"
