Boo fucking hoo.  You feel trapped fox people?  FUCKING QUIT.  Go get a job that doesn't require you to be a piece of shit human being.  It's not hard.  Oh, but you get paid millions?  Well, tough decision for you then.  I guess.

The degree of greed required to justify what he does every day is astounding. He's already made hundreds of millions. What a piece of shit.

My question is do the Fox hosts know what they are doing to the country but don’t care because they are getting paid or do they actually believe this stuff?  Are they just a higher paid, less insane version of Alex Jones and know its all BS but they get a nice paycheck each week so who cares?

pizza is bad for you.  so are most energy drinks and cigarettes and whatever else.  but as long as people want them, money will be made by making these products available to the consumer.

fox news is no different.  people want this.  they want to be angry and want to know a vague reason why.  they don't care about facts that contradict what is said.  they want confirmation of what they already want to believe.

and the fairness doctrine isn't what stops this.  money is what stops this.  if advertisers stop buying time during fox news, then the company loses money, and they cannot afford the tuckers and hannitys (hannities?) of the world.  i don't know who the biggest ad buyers are, but that's where this starts.

also, with newsmax and oann biting into the fox news brainwashed apple, expect them to get worse, not better, in order to compete to hold onto their loyal moron viewership.

So is there any legal distinction between journalism and opinion WRT how someone could blunt FN's disinformation?  I know 1A / free press is sacrosanct, but FN uses it as a shield for their propaganda opinion wing, and that is only growing because of the threat from OAN and Newsmax.  They fired the journalists that (rightly) called Arizona for their network.  They are replacing their only primetime news slot with another opinion show.  This problem is only going to get worse.

I want someone like Katie Porter to dig into FN execs and make them reveal under oath what hosts and shows are opinion versus news, but I know that would be crushed by the right as congress attacking the free press.  Could congress pass something that requires a clearer distinction for opinion shows, print, etc?  Like any opinion show must have a chyron that plainly states OPINION as long as that segment or show is in that mode?  I know newspapers have opinion pages, but other forms of media have blurred that line intentionally.  FN, OAN, and Newsmax are amplifiers at best for the right, and most of the time actually cross the line into disinformation and outright lies that leads to shit like 1/6.

so the dude in texas was arrested today and part of his charge is threatening to kill aoc.

so at what point does fox news actually face some culpability here?  they've been telling their viewers how evil she is for years now.  there's absolutely no reason for a random knucklehead from texas to even know who some freshman congresswoman from new york is for the past couple of years, if not for fox news and trump.

they are directly putting lives in danger.

I watch FOX News Sunday every single week.  Simply it is as close as Fox gets to an actual search for factual information in the entire week.  It also allow me to know in advance what the answers to most of the pertinent issues, should I ask about the topics covered in the coming week.  In other words why wait for the regurgitation of the watchers, go strait to the "thought producing source."

I also watch Morning Joe most every day.  Simply as the quality of guests are of a pretty high level.  Not all the guests of course, but you compare the quality on that show to what you get on FOX news it's a fucking joke.  It's like hearing geopolitical analysis from a Former Navy Seal, and the former Supreme Allied Commander 5 star General. Fox News is a lot like the Trump Administration was, where you give a megaphone to a much lesser quality person, simply because you can only find lower quality people willing to fully endorse misinformation. Quality folks have a reputation to lose.

The MAIN THING THAT WE NEED TO REMEMBER ABOUT FOX IS THE CONTENT IS CONTROLLED BY FOREIGNERS.  IT HAS NO LOYALTY TO DEMOCRACY, NOR THE UNITED STATES.  ALL IT CARES ABOUT IS MONEY AND FINDING A LOYAL VIEWERSHIP.  TRUTH IS COMPLETELY OPTIONAL PAST THAT.

Fox News is a business that follows the radio model where it begins with a churn topic to illicit some emotional response and to repeat the topic all day while their hosts guide you through the emotions they want you to have. The impact is a complete propaganda network and they no longer even try to hide it. Their viewers have long ago been hooked and the lies are bigger and more divorced from reality and the cult of Fox churns on.

It's pretty complicated.  Take Sela Ward. TV shows illustrate how attractive she is, various magazines over the years have touted her attractiveness, and all of that is perfectly legal - Freedom of the Press and all of that.  Brisketexan consumes all of that content, maybe has a secret directory on his computer full of downloaded photos of her.

Unless I catch him looking through a window and watching us have sex, there's not a lot we can do (and even then it's going to come down to Brisket's mental state and would start with Sela getting a restraining order against him).    Of course, Sela's not a sitting Congresswoman, and it comes down to how credible those threats against AOC are.  I'm going to guess though, that by breaking into AOC's place of work, that takes things up to an 11, from say an idle threat on a board populated by incels.

Can you imagine the vitriol that would have been unleashed by the family values party had Bill paid off a porn star?

Right before the election. And then lied about it and covered it up. Trump was impeached twice and not for that.

In all seriousness, is there anything we can do to reduce Fox’s nonsense propaganda that is destroying this country?  I know first amendment and all, but there has to be something. I’m all about Edward Abbey tactics if that’s what it takes.

Advertisers.

Great. I don’t use My Pillow or catheters. What else?

Saw an article recently... on how it’s not really advertising pressure that will get to Fox. It’s how it’s bundles into cable packages. A loss of a few advertisers doesn’t really hurt them.

that makes sense.  i still maintain that if a bunch of their big ad buyers took a big public stand, that might move the needle of some of their decisions.  but here we are and they just added another "opinion" show right before tucker, which means they're moving in the wrong direction (likely to counteract the newfound popularity of oann and newsmax).

i would imagine if enough people complained to their cable provider about a rinky dink channel like oann, maybe they would consider dropping it from their basic packages.  we don't get newsmax (we have attnow) and i don't really know who does.  considering fox news gets better ratings than cnn and msnbc, i would think that level of pressure would be next to impossible.

I don’t have cable, like a growing segment of the population. Everything I watch is an app and a choice (firetv). I wonder if that will have an effect.  More and more people are going to have to seek them out specifically.

Ah yes, the John Edwards. We don’t need to imagine what happens when politicians pay off mistresses with campaign funds. His career was ruined and he was criminally charged.

The thing is, Fox News is a white supremacy propaganda channel. All their narratives boil down to “browns, blacks, Muslims are going to destroy white Christian America.”

I have basic free cable with my internet (no cable box etc) and I get Fox News and NewsMax.
