How Fox News works

Maria, if it feels like somebody flipped a switch and disappeared 100,000+ of your followers.  It's because they did.  But the switch wasn't at Twitter.

She physically looks like the next sentences out of her mouth should be, "Right around the election, I had an 8-ball and a handle bar of Tito's; And now, I only have enough for a keybump and two shots.  I don't know what's going on there."

I know it's petty and possibly inappropriate to go after her looks, but Maria always looks like she's on day 1 after a long bender.

Like @Bama Chick says, once someone has revealed a dark soul, fair game for overall criticism. I will say, if she trimmed her hair length, her bang sweep emphasizes her Karen-ness.

i've seen her before.  she's the chick at the party at 3am who just wants one bump so she can stay up longer and party, but you don't give it to her, because you know she'll come back around 3:15 and then at 3:30, because that's how being tired works and she isn't very fun anyway.  so you let her putter around and crash on the couch instead.

She's been raiding Judge Jeanine's office, I guess.

I think there should be a set of standards that have to be met in order for anything to advertise itself as "news". Fox News, OAN, and Newsmax would be less attractive to old people if they couldn't call themselves news.

Yes, FB will continue to be an issue for my Mom.  Luckily I don't really know how far gone they are because we rarely discuss politics at all.

I know they still watch the local news because my dad gets pissed when Jim Spencer doesn't get the forecast right.

Good news! Jim Spencer isn't hanging around to get kicked anymore, he's going to have that new twink to kick around from now on.

Prior to his parents passing away, my husband had a separate email that he kept just for them as well as all his aunts, uncles, etc. They use to Fwd Fwd Fwd stuff all the time, and I cannot recall what the impetus was but somehow he set his email to auto reply a Snopes link or something along those lines.

This was what I used to do, except I'd do it manually.  I think so many of us did this that's how Snopes got the liberal bias label attached to it by Boomers and above.  My mom didn't quit believing that shit just because I told her the truth, she instead just quit sending that stuff to me because she was more interested in continuing to believe it than she was in knowing whether or not it was truthful.  And that was when I knew this was going to eventually become a problem.  Now here we are.

I at least understood the batshit attempts to discredit and demonize Fauci when Trump was in office, but what is the goal of this campaign now? Perhaps it's just feeding the cult what the want. Just so incredibly dangerous and brazenly irresponsible.

He works for Biden now. The more terrible things you can make up about anyone who works for Biden, the more audience you are going to build in the right wing echo chamber.  It doesn't have to be any more complicated than that.

As he is still an employee, I suppose he can't sue them like Dominion is pursuing against liars like Giuliani. Shame in a way. Which reminds  me. Now that it is post election, did Fox ever reveal all the terms of that multi-million dollar settlement with Seth Rich's parents? I know that one of the terms was that it couldn't be revealed until after the election and the other was that Fox would NOT have to issue a public apology, but other than that, I haven't heard anything.

I don't think they actually said anything factually incorrect about Fauci in that clip. NIH was funding research on coronaviruses in Wuhan. The troubling thing is their implication that covid came from that lab, which these conspiracy nuts have been saying without proof for the past year.

They want you to believe it was a lab created virus and that if not for Fauci and his insistence that we make viruses more communicable to study them better, the lab in Wuhan never would've done it.   So there are 2 things they want you to walk away with that are at best potentially distortions of the truth. #1, that this is a lab created virus that accidentally got out of containment, #2, the lab never would've done this had Fauci not told them to.

And because they don't want to get sued, they don't come right out and tell you that's true, but their goal is that you leave that segment believing both of those things.  In my opinion that's the same as if they'd just straight up lied about it, but I don't think I'm a reasonable person as it relates to how this would be litigated if it went to court.

I assume unless they want to keep paying out in settlements, that with their admission they are 'entertainment,' they have learned how to walk a fine line. I suppose those that like Fox love innuendo and such.

Having admitted that they are entertainment, it is too bad that the genie is out of the bottle on how that is classified in the interest of the American public in order to make it clear that THIS IS NOT NEWS PEOPLE.

The most aggravating thing about this is that this baseless conspiracy crap resulted in dotard's admin pulling funding for this research, which only makes us even less prepared for the next pandemic zoonotic virus.

Ah yes, Hawley's daily censorship on primetime cable news.

Fox is going to keep putting him on there to rehabilitate his image. The more he is on, the more he is just another face on Fox, comforting like mashed potatoes. For those that have Fox on daily, he's just there talking his talk and the longer that happens and the less likely that he or Cruz and the rest face accountability, he'll be ready to go whether it is in four years or eight.

Do any of the Trumpers understand the relationship between the C-Level execs at Fox News and Twitter?

Oh, OANN and NewsMax making a huge play for FoxNews viewers?  Obviously Trump had to be jettisoned after the insurrection.  But hundreds of other prominent Trump-supporting MAGA folks and elected officials suddenly start losing their platform online.  So what do they do?  They take to FoxNews to spew their story, complain about their censoring, and continue their narrative.  You fucking Trumper idiots don't see what happened?  FoxNews was losing out to other channels, so they went to their friends at Twitter to compress that feed so that the only place you could hear their tales of woe was FoxNews instead of migrating to other channels.  Christ, you fucking idiots fell right for it.  You think it's "censorship" or "muzzling"...but Twitter and Fox brought you back to where you were always supposed to be, the mothership of echo chamber news.  You noticed how quiet the hubbub about OANN has been lately?  They tricked you, you fucking morons.

fox parental lock for parents is great.  facebook is heroin.  at least there is a methadone for it (shut it off).   the fwd fwd fwd emails are silent/boomer fentanyl.  full aggy deathspiral.  no recovery unless you can edit your parent's email.
Tried after she spent a month in the hospital. Just to be a good son. Do you really need to get the Micheal Barry daily email, Rush? But also Bealls, Southern Recipes. Com, your old power provider that doesn't serve where you live now? Need these?

"Yes I like to recieve those; I need those"

One initiative that we really need to protect this country's future is intensive education of school children - in, say, junior high - about media propaganda, bias, reliable and unreliable sources, and how to research facts and consume news critically.
Don't see it being part of the prescribed curriculum in an age where people can't agree on what facts are, but barring that, teachers should take it upon themselves.

Squinting, mouth agape. Trying to get Tucker's timeslot when it comes out that he was at the Trump hotel with Rudy, Tommy, and the Boogaloos and gets prosected.

Something like that. He's calculating enough that he's attempting a Kevin but he can't quite maneuver how to successfully break the fourth wall. It sounds strange because a newscaster (ok, Fox version of news) already does so, but In Hawley's case as a guest, he's 'technically' not an *unbiased narrator as Tucker Carlson would be. So, IMO, he's aiming for a Kevin:

'Argo Home Alone' Mash-Up: Stop The Plane, They Forgot ...

Kevin breaks the fourth wall to tell you all sorts of things: what it's like being the youngest and how unfair it all is. He pulls you into the story and has some nasty criminal foes  so you start rooting for him and looking for the little asides, like you're in on the caper. So he isn't really Home Alone. You're with him.

Kevin is cute and white in that suburban well-off kind of way. He doesn't really have it hard, now does he? John Hughes was a genius at that wasn't he?

Josh is going for a Kevin, but he would need to convince viewers that this all just happened. He's trying to fight for the victims of the Deep State/Swamp but as more info is revealed that this was a planned coordinated attempt, the more it moves away from that idea that he just woke up to this coup and now he has to fight criminals posing as plumbers evil Democrats who don't want unity.

Part of the reason, IMO, that movie is such a success isn't just the comedic acting (Pesci, Stern, Candy, et al did such a great job), it's the story and the way it interacts with various ideas. John Hughes was a talented man in that regard. Time will tell if Josh pulls it off. His viewers are not too sharp so I'm not going to bet against him. Living in alternate reality land sounds easy, but it isn't. Breaking character causes extreme discomfort for the masses living there but they believe so they stay the course, but for those who are play acting the role--it's a constant inner dialogue and for many perhaps, a fear of being discovered.

*The idea of Tucker being unbiased is laughable, but that's his schtick and it brings in viewers.

How the fuck did he get on the Judiciary Committee? Isn't he a freshman?

Kamala Harris also got on Judiciary as a freshman.

It's the committee with the most exposure for those with presidential ambition.  It's not a coincidence the committee last session included:

  • Ted Cruz (ran in 2016,  running in 2024)
  • Sasse (may run in 2024)
  • Hawley (running in 2024)
  • Klobuchar (ran in 2020)
  • Booker (ran in 2020)
  • Harris (ran in 2020)

Also he was formerly the Missouri AG - it is a natural committee landing spot for similar occupations (Harris, Klobuchar - County Attorney, Ted - Solicitor General)

I mean....Oklahoma is trying to unload $2 million worth of worthless HCQ that it bought in order to please the Orange lord. They’ve figured out that it was bullshit.

So let’s get this straight, Laura....Oklahoma is smarter than you. You should probably drink hemlock now.
