Major League Baseball in a memo warned about the "very real risk" of over-the-counter sexual-enhancement pills after at least two players this year were suspended for performance-enhancing drugs and said the banned substances found in their urine came from the unregulated products, sources familiar with the situation told ESPN.

The use of over-the-counter pills, which are often sold at gas stations, is prevalent among baseball players, according to multiple sources. It prompted the league to send out a memo on Monday that outlines the risk of consuming non-NSF-certified supplements.

The memo, obtained by ESPN, warns that "these products are often contaminated with prohibited and unsafe ingredients" and that players are subject to discipline even if they inadvertently ingested a banned substance.

"Sexual or male enhancement products present a very real risk for drug-tested players," the memo said, "and the high likelihood for contamination or unidentified ingredients in these products underscores the importance of consuming only those products that are NSF Certified for Sport."

In the memo, which was sent to major and minor league players and redistributed by the MLB Players Association to ensure its members received it, MLB suggested that players who "suffer from erectile dysfunction or other legitimate issues related to sexual performance ... speak to a licensed physician about the various prescription medications (e.g., Viagra, Cialis, Levitra) available to treat those conditions."

Over-the-counter sexual-enhancement pills are part of the unregulated supplement industry, which is estimated to be worth more than $30 billion a year. The Food and Drug Administration in July added 10 products to a list of more than 250 tainted sexual-enhancement supplements. Former NBA star Lamar Odom fell into a coma after a significant dose of so-called "herbal Viagra," a sexual-enhancement pill.

"We know from experience," the league memo said, "that a number of these sexual or male enhancement products -- which are sold online, at retail stores, and on the black market, both in the United States and internationally -- contain anabolic steroids and other prohibited substances.

"For this reason," the memo continued, "we strongly urge players against taking any sexual or male enhancement product, from any source."

Give him a break.  It’s not like he was the tying run in the bottom of the 9th.

"We took a couple of straight bets on the Astros and a slew of parlays over $500 that had either the Astros money line or run line on them," Caesars director of trading Jeff Davis told ESPN.

Scott Shelton, the sportsbook shift manager at Mirage/MGM, said it won more than six figures on the game, taking a $55,000 bet on Houston at -550 (to win $10,000) and a $63,520 bet on Houston at -575 to win $11,000.

I think it was a stupid bet.  I never bet on anything that big of odds.  If I had 63K laying around I would have dropped 15K on the tigers instead.  Could have won 66K

I bet in pennies compared to that, but even my ass isn't a moron and bet on the Tigers last night.

This is professional baseball not Alabama vs. The School for the Blind...shit can happen.

I wish I had bet every penny of my assets on the Yankees going 0-9 on this west coast trip. You could see it coming from a fucking mile away. Baltimore isn’t in California. Complete free fall.

Oakland is just pissing on the Yanks for a 3rd straight game. Maybe not adding a starter at the deadline to replace Happ was not a good idea.

Not adding a starter wasn’t your problem this series.

Scoring 5 runs in 17.1 innings against Bailey, Fiers and Roark was.

Hahahahahaha.  Dodgers score 3 in the 9th for another walkoff win, 3-2 and another series sweep.  Bring on the Jankees!

I did a little 4 game ML parlay last night picking the Astros, Rays, Nationals and Dodgers as winners.  Went to bed thinking it was done with cause the Dodgers weren't doing shit.  Great news to wake up to this morning lol.

not sure what the best part of this video is- the kid's reaction, or gary thorne's awkward moan:

I didn't get a foul ball until I was well into my 30s.  This kid can suck it.  He doesn't understand the struggle

I have gone to well over 175 Dodger games.  No idea how many, but anywhere from 3 to 10 per year for the last 45 years.  I have never gotten a foul ball. 😞

I’ve probably been to 300 Astros games in my life.  I have 3 foul balls.  Got George HW Bush to sign one back in the late 90s.  He used to go to a lot of games between March and May before he went to Maine for the summer.

My brother from another mother... I sent that video to a buddy the other with the comment “They found video of me from a few years ago...when I was 32 (I’ve always had a baby face).”

Rookies. I’ve been to games at 7 different MLB parks, but Minute Maid is the only place I get to early enough to watch BP. In the like 8 Astros games I’ve gone to in my life, I got a BP homer ball at 2 of them.

Got a BP ball once at MM, jr gave it to a young Cubs fan.  Have come close a few times to HR/foul balls but no cigar, they were either a row or two from me or I was absent from my seat when it happened.

Aaron Hicks, when he was with the Twins, tossed me a ball in Keuchel’s Korner back in 2015 while I was holding my then 1 yo. That’s the only way I’m getting one these days unless a make a great grab.

Speaking of which...
I’ve caught one foul ball in my life but at a college game
Reckling Park Horns/Owls about 15 years ago. Sitting on the top row of bleachers way down the right field line. Ball starts coming right for me. Old ladies are scattering. My brother starts to encroach on my area. I arm block him with my right forearm. Ball flies behind me to my left. Stretch out my left hand as high and as far back as I can over the fence behind my row. Ball sticks. I receive loud applause. Craig Way makes mention of my catch on the radio. I am gruntled

I happened to catch a liner that was coming in hot last season from Bregman that Ohtani pitched.

I keep trying to get hit in the face by a Yordan Alvarez homer, but haven't been lucky enough for that yet.

Small world.  Dude in the old style Astros hat and blue shirt is a buddy of mine. We had season tickets together when MMP first opened.  Glad to see he's moving up in the world.
