Negging until you retire that picture.

Lol I took and posted that picture in I think early 2016. I don’t post much anymore but I’m glad I left a legacy!

Was it known Biggio was going to move to 2nd when he came up?
first 4 years-429 appearances at C, 3 at 2B.
Doran was traded in 90.  Biggios first game at 2b was 91...
Yes. Billy d took biggio to floor of astrodome during rodeo to help teach to play second base

Matt Galante was tasked to teach Biggio 2nd base in 1992. Doran came back to help after having been traded a couple of years earlier. Biggio gives Galante most of the credit.

But Biggio was a hell of an athlete to be able to switch from a Major League catcher to a Major League 2nd baseman.

Yeah, I noticed a couple of months into 2017 it hadn't carried into the new season so I figured I'd adopt it to keep the greatness alive. I have the link saved as a favorite so it will be easy to post at least 112 more times this season.

That is awesome. Still, back then - ok - $3 - not that big of a deal. I remember.

But now? $20, $30, hell, for game 3 of the World Series we paid $60.

back in the mid 90s i paid $1 for parking and like $4 for tickets.  early bird specials at the dome.

I was there just about every Friday night in '94 and '95 for those $4 outfield seats with my two best friends - those gray seats in left-center and right-center.  Man, those were good times.

As a young man I used to go to a lot of Astros games in the Dome. In the late ‘70’s I could sit in the Yellow section directly behind home plate for $3. Pretty high up, but a good perspective.

Saw Ken Forsch pitch a no-hitter in the second game of the season in 1979 from up there.

Good times, indeed.

From Rosenthal “unserious predictions” /rankings article today...because I know we’d still win by 10 runs, I’d find this actually wildly entertaining:

25. Texas Rangers: A brawl erupts as Joey Gallo rounds the bases shouting, “April F—— Fools” after hitting a monstrous home run over the Astros’ shocking six-man outfield the first time the teams meet on April 1.

....and here is my favorite one:

1. Houston Astros: The team uses a cutting-edge, seven-man outfield to hold Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo to a combined 0-for-27, with José Altuve making a circus catch in deep center to complete the World Series sweep.

Can we go 0-fer against CFM today and then win the game like 8-1?

Bregman 0-4 after getting paid. Waste of $100 million

This right here.

I don't understand all the optimism.

  1. Bregman is 0 for the season. We should have traded him before before we got anchored to that huge contract.
  2. Springer is only hitting .200. That'll kill you in the lead-off spot.
  3. Correa has been out for the entire season.
  4. We don't have our Cy Young winner (Keuchel). Who cares about JV? I prefer winners over runner ups (sic.....I hate runners up even more)
  5. Our bullpen is going to be overused if we keep throwing Pressly and Osuna every single game.
  6. Diaz is a disaster. He is batting .000 while Marwin G. single-handedly has the Twins in first place.

We're fucking doomed.

Verlander only threw his change like 60 times total last year and he threw it 11 times yesterday to very good effect (8 strikes, 5 whiffs, 0 hits).  That pitch appears to have nice velo separation from his fastball and a fair amount of drop compared to his helium-like fastball.

It looks like there is  7-10 mph difference between his FB and his change, at least yesterday:

If Luhnow doesn't get off his ass and bring Toro up to play 3rd and move Bregman over to SS we'll be too far behind in the standings by the time Glass Pussy gets back.

Oh hell, who am I kidding?  Glass Pussy will only be active for three days before his next debilitating injury.  FUCKING DOOMED!!!!!!

Beyond just being a nice addition to his arsenal, it might help Verlander reduce his fastball usage (making that pitch more effective) and increase his GB% without sacrificing Ks.

I mean, yeah.  I appreciated his work here and I'll appreciate him even more if he gives up a 5 in the first inning.

Not sure why we are worried about Morton. Luhnow has all the analytics on every pitcher that ever pitched for the Astros.
Who is worried? We are the best god damned team on the planet.

Not sure anyone is worried about facing Charlie. I think some of us feel bittersweet about watching our lineup do him like they did Snell yesterday.

Guess I need to change my avatar soon since DK is unemployed lol.

Wonder if he regrets not accepting our QO.

Did lunhow try to strike a deal with him after the initial QO? I thought I heard something about that.

the At Bat app works great for listening to the games. It's only $20 or so for the season. It's free if you have MLBtv.

Subscribed. Literally

I use this. A lot. And I’m in market with a clear radio signal 95% of the season.
The app has so much more than just audio and will be the best $20 you’ll spend this year

Doran did help him but it was after he had already been traded away.  This is from the Chronicle:
