Interesting that ZiPS has Tucker projected at 3.9 WAR and a .361 wOBA in 2021 but only has Alvarez at 1.7 WAR and a .338 wOBA that same year when Alvarez is only five months younger than Tucker.  Would guess Alvarez' injury hampered stint in the Carolina League is holding him down in those projections, along with his higher K%.  Alvarez actually had a lower swinging strike rate than Tucker last season in AAA, so his higher K% seems to be more driven by his more selective approach than an inability to make contact.

Surprisingly I didn't see an Express thread, so I guess this is as good a place as any...

Just looked at the Express schedule. Ho.lee.fuk. 56 games in the first 58 days of the season? Wow. Hardly ever even a break between home & road games, & vice versa. I knew MiLB schedules were grueling, but I don't remember seeing it like that recently.

Do they just have huge pitching rosters, or what?

Verlander didn't get closer to 40 than 30 when he turned 36.  He got closer the day after he turned 35.

God damn the rangers stadium is pretty empty. Pretty pathetic playing a rival at home the first week of the season. MMP would be packed.

he seems to be on the charlie morton program.  silly nasty for an inning or two, then comes an inning where he just can't command.  then comes back the next inning.

hopefully we've already seen his bad inning.  either way, he needs to go 6 and his pc is close to 80.

Yeah, he's thrown some unhittable pitches but he's missed his spot several times.

Same can be said of Tanaka.  He's been fortunate with several really well-hit outs.  I'm feeling a crooked number in the 6th.

better than i would've guessed.

although i remember a couple days ago we had an infield hit with a man on 2nd.  that shit shouldn't even count.

I can think of at least 3 of those hits that came with a runner on 2nd that stopped at 3rd.
