Drayton is a family friend.  He once told me that they had absolutely no idea how old Eusebio was.  Pre 9-11 no one cared all that much.

damn that cracks me up. wonder what he's up to these days

mlb.com writeup on the top minor league performance for the Astros on June 15th:

Astros: Freudis Nova, SS (No. 6) – 4-for-4, 2B, R (Class A Quad Cities)
Signed out of the Dominican Republic for $1.2 million in 2016, Nova is playing full-season ball for the first time in 2019. He raked in the GCL last season, batting .308 with decent pop, and he's doing more of the same with the River Bandits this year. Friday's four-hit effort brought his average up over .300 for the first time all year as the 19-year-old logged his 16th game of the season for Quad Cities.

My raging yardon don't care about small sample size: this is going to go down as one of Luhnow's career-defining moves, trading Josh Fields for a generational slugger. Bagwell for Larry Andersen 2.0.

2.8 bWAR. 1.5 fWAR.

He’s definitely on a hot streak, having a great year, and he was a great signing. I’m thrilled with his play.

I’d just slow the roll on the “best catcher ever” stuff. Right now, his projection for the rest of the year has him right in line with 2013-16 Castro, 2017 McCann, and Stassi last year in terms of fWAR. His bat is better than theirs-and I think that skews the perception of his overall game, given the Astros’ history with hitting catchers and the relative offensive strength of the position overall- but they were all better defensively. As stated, his defensive play has actually been better than expected, though-he’s not a real liability there, just not an asset like those guys.

He’s still a fairly awful framer, but his hitting has made up for it somewhat. He was a good bargain bin signing.

Please quit being ridiculous, he won’t hit over 1200

True but it won't be his fault. Sometimes opposing teams will choose the four pitch walk instead of the home run.

The biggest difference though is Anderson didn't also give up back to back HRs to the Astros in the World Series.

Any word on Jake after he left early last night?

Nothing official other than the dreaded “discomfort” in the left knee.

So I’d expect a leg amputation before the weekend is over.
