who do you trade tucker or whitley for ?

im very pro for trading one for the right piece. i don't see us trading for another bat. when healthy, this roster is set. another starting pitcher is the prize here.

You don't trade either of them unless you are getting a badass for more than just the rest of this season.

Scherzer seems like a pipe dream, but he is a guy you part with Tucker/Whitley to get. Bumgarner is a FA after this season (and he ain't Scherzer), so you could get him without moving either of those guys.

Here are the teams that are more than 5 games back in the wild card standings: SEA, DET, TOR, KC, BAL, SF, MIA. Who do you want from those rosters that you'd include Tucker/Whitley for? I can't think of anyone (obviously only considering guys these teams would actually trade - you're not getting Guerrero, for example).

What do the twins / Yankees / braves have to give up for madbum ?

MIN has a pretty loaded farm system. You'd have to think NYY would part with Frazier and more (not sure how highly regarded Frazier still is, but he'd start in the OF for SF, I'd imagine).

I guess it depends on the Giants' strategy...they aren't getting any top-tier prospects for half a season of Bumgarner...so do they want quantity? You'd think they would look for a package that combines a couple of good mid-level prospects with a couple of really young lottery tickets. I think any of HOU/MIN/NYY could put that kind of package together.

I am thinking for the Astros that would be something like Corbin Martin, Abraham Toro and some talented 19-year old in low-A ball. Not necessarily those guys exactly, but something like that.

I could be wrong on all this.

LOL the rangers aren't catching us, it is a long season and every team has a stretch or two like this. Teams and players have slumps and late June and july are the dog days of summer baseball so the grind starts now.

This isn't football where you lose a few games in a row and your season is over.

I’m nervous about the lineup Hinch is going to trot out there today with the off day tomorrow.

White and Yuli are pretty much guaranteed to play with a lefty starting and our current 25 man.

Altuve 2B

Straw SS

Reddick 1B

Alvarez LF

Yuli 3B

Chirinos C

Marisnick CF

White DH

Kemp RF

Would not completely surprise me

That’s a little over the top but I can pretty much guarantee you’re going to see at least a couple of guys in weird spots today

All if this means.. we probably score 10 (then again there is the JV to offset, soooo 0?

I just know we really need to take this one. JV on the mound and a well rested bullpen (relative to the Yankees). Need to keep the ball in the yard today on defense

Someone posted last night about us bottoming out last night but I, unfortunately, think that happens today.  Can see JV giving up a bunch of homeruns and offense not mustering anything once we get past Alvarez. team needs to come home asap and get their heart back in place, by that I mean Springer. I hope I'm wrong but Gods of baseball are tough to overcome when things not in your favor.

Hope I'm wrong, obviously, so let's go boys

- 2006 Cardinals had two 8 game losing streaks. Won the WS

- Bregman makes those plays at third with Correa at SS

- Tyler white has had a sneaky good month. Finally taking advantage of his opportunities.

- Smith back after the break. Taking it easy with Correa and Diaz. Hoping first week after the break. Want to be sure they are 100%

- McHugh back next week with springer

- Brady Rodgers is ‘banged up’. Perez has to down for 10 days before he can be called up again.

- 13 position players for NL parks is preferred

- trade deadline talk — One trade deadline will increase activity. Paulino back with AAA, 35 yo lulz. His arm is still good lulz. Signed to shore up AAA. Astros and staff will be evaluating the market.

- tucker talk — very focused, crushing the ball. Doing everything they’ve asked of him. Lunhow / Hinch constantly talk on getting him on the roster. Sept call up for sure, would like to give him a chance before then.

- no time table for Whitley’s rehab. Has not thrown off the mound yet. Looking for him to come refreshed and rested.

- yankee old timers shifted on Gaimbi

Luhnow recap:
On this 0-6 road trip: We knew there’d be a downturn at some point with what we have. But still sucks.

On Altuve: Pleased with Altuve and lower half looking as good as it has in a looong time

On White: having a good/month getting better. Has had every opportunity and finally taking advantage of it

Injuries:
Springer back this week
McHugh as well
Smith right after ASB
Diaz and Correa a week or two after the ASB. Hope the first week (I missed if that means starting a rehab assignment or actually back)

One trade deadline:
Activity will be increased the week before the deadline
Still thinks late July that it heats up

On Felipe Paulino:
Arm is still good. Guy that can give us innings in Round Rock more than anything with all of the havoc wreaked on their staff with roster moves. But you never know (if he can give some help in majors).

On loading up with veterans in AAA with early trade deadline:
Possibility but we like our depth there already. Having a veteran down there that you think you may use in October (for depth) really isn’t on their minds because you have a handful of guys (bregs/Correa/Altuve) that will be getting all of the playing time

On Tucker:
Doing what coaches are asking him to do. Just blocked right now. Certainly up in sept, hopefully an opportunity before them.

On Whitley:
No timetable on return. Working on building up a strength now but not throwing off mound yet.
