This thread is a nightmare after losses

I think it's a great sign that we're so spoiled.

Everyone in this thread knows this is just baseball and little down stretches happen to every team that will compete for a championship.

But the freak out is very entertaining.

I fell asleep in extras before the game was decided, but irrespective of the game result I still don't and will never agree with this fucktarded strategy AJ has employed a few times recently where he takes our highest OPS bat out of the lineup for baserunning and/or defensive purposes.
I get the reasoning and I don't need to be schooled on the logic behind it, I just flatly don't agree with it at all. Yordan is our young Pujols, you don't EVER remove those bats from a lineup for strategic purposes. AJ is outsmarting himself here.

I have to feel this, and scraps post above, are exactly what Luhnow will be discussing with Hinch in a few hours when they get to the ballpark.

I’ll bet a paycheck that  Lunhow doesn’t discuss/suggest in game strategy tips with hinch lulz

if you’re not playing to win that game in the top of the eighth, something is wrong

I just proved that pr in that situation doesn’t make any difference in “playing to win”.

It is 1 fucking %

The chance he doesn’t score is astronomically higher and you keep your biggest threat in the ballgame.

Just a pointless move

it doesn’t work, except for when it works. higher odds it doesn’t work but you play for the odds you get a hit with a runner on second that late in the game

.

at that point of the game, you hadn’t  had many scoring opportunities. Do you maximize that one scoring opp or hope this game goes into extra innings so yordan can get another at bat ?

lot of people suddenly having restored confidence that the bp can hold it down until yordan can get another at bat in extra innings

taking that bat out of the lineup is huge and something you must consider as a manager. Damn I miss being a bench coach

Yordan is not slow like McCann. Yordan can score on a 2 out single into the OF.

Kind of interesting to me that you don’t see much post game interviews posted on mlb app for AJ recently.

Always curious about his thoughts after a tough game like last night.

Exactly. The upside of a little extra speed on the basepaths to beat a hypothetically close play at the plate with two outs in the 8th inning is not worth the downside of removing that power bat from the lineup in the event of extra innings.

I’ll make another bet, no mlb manager makes a top of 8th decision hoping the game goes into extra innings
I'll bet that Larussa rarely if ever removed Pujols from tie games late for a fuckin pinch runner.

My bigger issue was Correa watching two very straight fastballs come straight down the pipe. Very flat and straight fastballs

bat on shoulder

It’s a tough call to make. It it works, hero. It it doesn’t, zero
It's not about hoping for extras, it's about keeping your best bat in play when there's still game left to be played. It's fuckin basic man.

Alot of "if" there.

"If" correa doubles, triples, or homers anyone would score from 2nd.

I hate that he keeps PR for Yordan because typically from my recollection it hasn't worked but a very low % of time and we lose our best one hitter quitter.

As someone else mentioned...we never sac bunt when fucking situations call for it so why are we pinch running on the hope Correa gets a single. What is the statistical analysis of the chance Correa singles? It has to be low as fuck. For a team built on numbers that seems to be a fucking retarded gamble....yet he continues to do it.

Let me do the math for you.

Correa has 39 singles in 301 pa. 13% chance he singles. He has 36 doubles+triples+homers in 301 pa. 12% chance he does one of those things.
He has 33 walks+ hbp in 301 pa. 11% chance he does that.

So for 1 fucking % more chance we take out Yordan.

Not on board with that.

Seems like we're taking him out for the 13%.  Not sure where you're getting 1% from.  Except out of those singles, how many would Jake score on that Yordan wouldn't?  Lot of ins, lot of outs.  I probably wouldn't do it but I can see both sides.

George and his one knee shit is starting to annoy me.

Is his recent uptick in that a sign of a pending slump?

1) I cringe when he does that thinking he’s going to wrench his back or something.

2) I share the slump concern.

Every time he swings out of control he goes down on a knee, and history shows that when he does that he slumps. He's also had a history of fixing it so hopefully it won't take long.
