Take care of business tonight boys

Win another one Astro’s! Will keep an eye on the game, but will be mostly preoccupied with the obvious tonight

Nice job, JV getting closer to CY #2

He probably starts 3 more games this year, I'd guess - that would mean his last start would be 9/25 at Seattle, and he would rest the last 4 games of the season (and perfectly positioning him to start G1 of the division series).

Would be nice if he can get to 20 wins...even though pitcher wins are mostly stupid, winning 20 games still seems to have cachet with voters. I think the award is his to lose at this point; winning 2 of the last 3 would likely ice it regardless of what anyone else does.

You might be right but I don’t know how that having 8 days off between starts is positioning him perfectly.
It is possible for him to get 4 more starts and his last start to be the 28th. And only 5 days between last regular season start and LDS game 1 like he’s used to. Doing that would also line up cole to pitch the last day of the regular season and keep him on regular routine for game 2 of the LDS.

As it is, if JV only gets 3 more starts, he’ll need to have average 10 Ks in each to hit 3,000 that last week of the season .

Yeah good point...I wonder if they won't space his starts out a bit. I'd be surprised if he gets 4 more regular season starts if the division is clinched relatively soon though.

If giving him a fourth start was done to boost Houston’s chances of best record, I’d absolutely start him then.

This where I’m at and why I think it will happen

Have him pitch with 4 days between his next three starts and then 5 days between his final (and 5 between LDS game 1)

Would also set up Cole similarly.

4, 4, 5, 4 (and then 5 before LDS game 2)

Whoa...

Well that guarantees what I was think after JV’s no hitter.

Here’s JVs probable starts the rest of the way:

So 9/12 vs Oak

9/17 vs Tex

9/22 vs Angels

9/27 at Angels

If he doesn’t average 10 Ks over the next 3 starts, he should hit 3,000 in LA.

No Seattle start ?

Not by my math.
Who knows how it will shake out with all of the off days, but if Hinch doesn’t change the rotation order, it will shake out like the following:

9/8 Sea Cole
9/9 Oak Grienke
9/10 Oak Miley
9/11 Oak bullpen
9/12 Oak JV
9/13 at KC Cole
9/14 at KC Greinke
9/15 at KC Miley
9/16 off
9/17 Tex JV
9/18 Tex Cole
9/19 off
9/20 LAA Greinke
9/21 LAA Miley
9/22 LAA JV
9/23 off
9/24 at Sea Cole
9/25 at Sea Greinke
9/26 at LAA Miley
9/27 at LAA JV
9/28 at LAA bullpen
9/29 at LAA Cole
