But seriously, I thought we had some tree people on here. 

I'm just looking to make sure I do the right thing with this tree.  I have a 6 and 4 year old who will climb all over this thing.  Should I be concerned about it?  Oh, and I have no clue why they piled all that shit around the base.  I'm in the process of picking it all up. They did that around all the trees.

All that wood needs to go. Get rid of it.

 

That tree does need to be braced, but utilizing a thick metal pole not wood. It will take a substantial amount of concrete to support the pole.

 

Chainsaw would work too

Thanks.  That was my thought.  Metal pole anchored well with concrete.  Maybe a U type support on top? 

 

The thing is, I don't really trust the Tree companies I've called so far in San Antonio.

Davey is great. Their Austin office is, at least.
