Things seem to be going quite well for Joe Biden

I get that many of you think it’s clever to keep repeating hunter isn’t running for president but.......... the minimal amount of attention this is getting is because:

a) it’s relevant to the election that the son of the next potential president has a very checkered past that is amoral, criminal, and funded in part by a Ukrainian gas company, a Chinese military defense company, and who knows where else,

b) it’s both possible, and there is at least limited tangible evidence and witness testimony that part of that money went to Joe Biden which would be a major problem, (and yes some of this was while joe was in office)

c) Joe Biden has said multiple times he never had any involvement in his sons dealings or knew what was going on, which has turned out to be a lie,

d) it points out the hypocrisy of the media outlets and talking heads running with the Steele dossier, Kavanaugh accusations, Trump pee pee tape etc for months, but refuse to look into this for a day before claiming “But Russia!”, and refusing to cover it.

Now I fully understand some of the skepticism since the laptop hasn’t been fully verified etc, but it should be getting coverage by every mainstream news outlet until it’s either verified or not. As far as the witness testimony goes, the guy turned turned over his hard drives and phones. Is this all supposed to be some sort of tinfoil hat conspiracy still?

And if we’re waiting for all of this to be 100% verified before reporting, maybe the media needs to be a little more consistent in doing that going forward.

You seem to have some confusion between what is journalism, news, gossip, and propaganda/disinformation. Media is such a broad term that it encompasses a lot of real estate. When one says mainstream news, even that is fairly broad because there are citizens who consider Fox to be mainstream news. The cable news networks are specifically high ratings, but lower in credibility. (Fox and CNN, for example, have mediocre rankings for truth in reporting mechanisms.)

I rank discussion about the laptop under disinfo/propaganda since it is an old tactic used by foreign and domestic agents in an attempt to influence public opinion prior to an election with little basis in fact.

The reason the RNC and/or foreign assets are using Hunter Biden is due to investigation after investigation that have turned up no evidence linked to Joe. His history as a senator and as VP would provide plenty of issues for them to discuss with a factual voting record and or policy decisions. But the Trump campaign chose not to do that. Why? Because it invites the same scrutiny of their own Administration--also covered by factual evidence as well as the noncompliance and lack of transparency over the last four years. Ukraine's investigation of Hunter Biden turned up nothing. Our own DOJ and other agencies have found nothing EXCEPT for the rather revealing information that the former Ukrainian official who was ousted for corruption was the one who was assisting Giuliani and the oligarch who was charged by Bill Barr for peddling influence in a foreign election. Essentially, the very shadow 'diplomat' that was outed during the inquiry of last year is fabricating a story based on a few truths (Hunter Biden received money while on a board of a company, Hunter has a  history of an addiction problem, Hunter is the son of a former VP and a presidential candidate--those truths all reported in verified and sourced news outlets) and peddled it to a high volume, low accuracy tabloid and now everyone in the right wing leaning "media" wants to know why no one is reporting on Elvis sightings? Give me a break.

I would be happy to engage in a whataboutism with Jared Kushner and his relationship with foreign officials on behalf of the United States or any of the other Trump relatives, but because many of those actions have verifiable facts, you can check any mainstream news agency and read them for yourself.

What you seem not to understand is that the issue is not just verifiability. The issue is that “all this” as currently laid out, isn’t a coherent story and doesn’t amount to much. That’s why it’s not resonating beyond Republican tribalists. There’s just not enough this in all this.

Hey man.  Have you ever considered whether you might be in a information bubble? Everyone is in one.  The trick is to understand that and make a deliberate attempt to diversify the sources.  Plus, brush up on the basics of journalism.  Journalists shouldn't run with stories that aren't vetted.  Plus note the difference between editorial and news and how many sources (most notable Fox) blends the two together.

PBS newshour is an easy way to add is expand your bubble.

You're missing the point. The media keeps running confirmable corroborated stories about stupid and illegal shit the Trump clan does. That means they're obligated to run every speculative anti-Biden conspiracy theory that materializes because fairness and stuff.

Pretty much this. They are mad that “the media” and other rational people aren’t falling for their made up bullshit to deflect from the verifiably true and heinous acts of their deity.

Hunter Biden earned a shitload of foreign money in a job he wasn't at all qualified for specifically because his paymasters wanted influence. They weren't buying Hunter's expertise, they were buying influence. Did they get it? Maybe not, but that doesn't change the reality. A reality that many here and liberals in the media are desperate to pretend isn't reality.

The evidence that Joe got paid is scant. The evidence that Hunter's paymasters got something from Joe is also scant.

It's unacceptable regardless.

Joe Biden, who looks like he's going to be the next president, is not good enough for the office for a BUNCH of reasons, and potential graft is one of those many reasons. Our president should have ZERO foreign entanglements, past, present, or future.

Are Republican voters hypocritical sacks of shit? Yes.
Is Donald Trump exponentially worse? Yes.
Are the Trump kids exposed to 100x the foreign influence that Hunter ever was? Yes.
Can a person vote for Trump and still be considered someone worth listening to regarding ethics and morality? No.
Should people still vote for Biden in this specific circumstance? Sure (if their vote will matter).

But none of that changes the reality about Hunter Biden's "work" for Burisma, which is classic influence-peddling.

Get Trump out of office. Purge the Democratic party of ancient cronies and dynastic power.

If Joe got money, he was a private citizen when he got it which is absolutely legal. Kinda like when GWB got paid by China to give a speech days after he stopped being President.

you’re barking up the wrong tree.

Even if you assume the laptop and so forth is credible, there's still no evidence of a corrupt influence on Joe.  None.

Instead, you have this string of barely plausible "facts" that, connected together and taken as true, indulging every inference against Hunter and Joe, indicate that Joe might have met with one of Hunter's Ukrainian compadres, and might have had some knowledge about his Chinese ventures, when he was out of office.

I might agree that the press has made some inferences against Trump, but they start with a solid basis of fact.  And Trump has demonstrated over and over again that the worst inference is the most likely.

Ok, but the fact remains that Hunter Biden is not Joe Biden and your point about “potential graft” is undermined by Joe Biden’s long service as the poorest senator followed by a negative net worth while VP.

He got small-time rich giving speeches since he left office, but come on.

Meh.

We have rules that address divesting and financial entanglements for certain government employees.  Those rules don't normally extend to children since there is an expectation that children should be able to lead their own life.  There are rules that act as guardrails against nepotism, against self-dealing between family members, and ensure disclosures when potential conflicts exists.  There is zero evidence any of these guardrails or rules were crossed.  That should be the end of discussion - but because of right-wing propaganda - folks but into the "controversy."

If folks want to expand our current system and increase prohibited activities when it comes to children, that is fair and there is a rule making process to make those kinds of things possible.  However, pushing manufactured right-wing propaganda isn't the way.

IF and big if there, if, you take the emails and texts to/from hunter as authentic, then there were payments made from Hunter and others to Joe. Those are the guardrails that were potentially crossed.

It’d be nice if we had the full force of mainstream media and investigative journalists trying to uncover the truth behind this, but instead they’re probably still busy searching Brett Kavanaugh’s yearbook from 30 years ago, or busy trying to bury the lead by working with social media to make sure people don’t discuss it.

Alas, we’re left with Rudy Giuliani, who apparently can’t even tuck a wire in his pants without laying down, running with this solo.

Living up to the name again. What an idiotic take. Sure, get rid of cronyism in politics. But this isn't it. You're literally saying Biden should be disqualified because someone can make up allegations of potential graft and not because anything actually happened. That is stupid. Really fucking stupid. People are always going to attempt to gain influence on those powers. The cleanest President ever is still going to have groups to try and do that. Their attempts are their crimes (although often not literally crimes). You can't impute those crimes on the person in power without some evidence that the attempts were actually successful and embraced by the person in power.

I can guarantee you that your hero Bernie Sanders has had similar attempts to gain his influence. Would you really buy the argument that he should be disqualified because someone tried to gain his influence and not because they actually succeeded?

I’ve already posted about foreign influence lobbying.  The other aspect of it is a lot of the foreign companies that come here wanting influence don’t really know what they are doing and end up hiring yahoos at insane rates because the person has a photo of themselves at a grip and grin with an important politico and a bullshit story of how important they are.  Doesn’t mean anything shady happened, just that a fool and their money....

Conservatives as a group consider drug addicted to be untrustworthy and unreliable.

conservatives believe hunter Biden is a drug addict and have tried to use that issue to smear joe Biden.

conservatives ignore the provenance issues of the alleged hunter Biden computer.

conservatives completely believe the undocumented material that is claimed to be on a computer of dubious origins from a drug addict, up to and including the idea that he would take screen shots of his nefariousness dealings emails and store them on the hard drive.

I think the Q folks are moving towards the rationale that  Barr is a deep state Trump enemy who was primarily appointed to neutralize until after the election. That’s why he was appointed instead of Giuliani.
The downside is that means they have to let things shake out for a bit but once reelection is secure Durham will arrest him and he’ll be locked up with the Clintons, Biden, Obama and all the others.

These are well verified statements, one being made publicly by Trump. So, yeah, not the same thing.

Every cycle they have a bulldog that pushes through the disinfo. The same guy behind Swift Boat Veterans for Truth is heading a newly formed super PAC that now that they're organized and Adelson came through with the $$ are going to use the airwaves to push anything and everything in a last ditch effort.

Rudy is Trump's lapdog lawyer and it is laughable that anyone thinks his two former legal partners Victoria  Toensing and Joseph DiGenova (married but she kept her maiden name) who just happen to be the attorneys for exiled oligarch Dmitri Firtash and hired Giuliani's pal, Lev Parnas (remember him? Arrested for violating campaign finance laws?) are acting in the best interest of the United States here. They are acting on behalf of their clients: the oligarch Firtash who is fighting extradition and by proxy Trump. Laughable. Especially when you consider that Manafort worked with Firtash in the Ukraine for many years, including helping him in getting the (now) ousted Kremlin backed leader elected.

the people outside the Fox News bubble are highly skeptical. We went through pretty much the same thing 4 years ago with Clinton’s emails. What are the chances of it happening again? Astronomical. The GOP is trying to make Lightning strike twice and it’s not going to save them this time.

This. This summary is the play. That’s it, not much more than that.

Nobody outside of the echo chamber is buying it because it’s a non-story tying facts we know (Hunter worked with some shady foreign outfits, trading on his family name for moolah) together with “facts” that aren’t real, are implausible, and utterly unreliable. Sorry that a large chunk of the world OTHER than Trumpkins have functioning bullshit detectors, but we do. And we’re not batting an eye.

Here’s the thing - we all know our gut. Our gut reacts when something truly bad comes up. When the other side drops a bomb piece of evidence on me in one of my cases, something that really is bad for my case and will change the dynamic materially, I feel it instantly in my gut - my heart rate changes, the whole thing.

I haven’t had a single instant even approaching that with this “story.” I’ve read plenty, I’ve read the fever dream entanglements from the most passionate Trump mouthpieces, and....nothing. No dilating pupils, quicker breathing, nothing. There’s no there there. And the more frantic the mouthpieces get about it actually helps convince me that is the case.

Y’all tried the same gambit as before, with less evidence and much less connection to the actual candidate. Learn from Greg Davis: when everyone knows your play, AND you no longer have skilled personnel to run it, calling it repeatedly is a great way to go 3-and-out.

Rudy Giuliani, the guy that actually has the hard-drive, is on record as saying he isn't going to provide it to anyone that would spend time investigating it. But sure, let's believe the pizza gate guy.

And this. Dude. Prob is a lying psychopath, demonstrably. If that’s where y’all are hanging your hat...have fun with that. Y’all are going to stand in place ranting and screaming nonsense, while the rest of us have moved on and are miles away.

outstanding!

The laptop has been involved in a money laundering operation investigarion....the FBI has had it for a year and Hunter's attornies want it back - if the information on it is 10% verified, Joe Biden is inelligible to hold office.  If the information on there is verified he was business partners with leading members of the Chinese Communist Party while our vice President.   If what is on there or the Navy Officer's phones is true, its WAAAY past just a Hunter Biden problem.   The media ignoring it would be a lot more understandable if not for, you know, the Muller thing, the Impeachment, the current Russia stories that are wide open full throttle. There's going to be a hard reset in the media after all of this.  Nobody expected them to cooperate, this dog and pony show is to put that as on display as much as possible.  It's going to take an executive order for someone in the justice department to affect an arrest...very public perp walk.  If you don't think the cat in the Oval is up to that, you haven't been paying attention.

Y'all are just used to these electronic devices beng destroyed (Lois Lerner, Hillary, Strock) and the media never having something to obviously ignore, while simultaneously ingoring the chronic tampering with evidence.

.  "Journalists shouldn't run with stories that aren't vetted.".....that's just so good...really...genuinely worth the read through the rest of this.

So Trump appoints as America’s top cop a guy whose main goal is to arrest...Trump?

Is this list of sentences factual?

Conservatives as a group consider drug addicted to be untrustworthy and unreliable.

conservatives believe hunter Biden is a drug addict and have tried to use that issue to smear joe Biden.

conservatives ignore the provenance issues of the alleged hunter Biden computer.

conservatives completely believe the undocumented material that is claimed to be on a computer of dubious origins from a drug addict, up to and including the idea that he would take screen shots of his nefariousness dealings emails and store them on the hard drive.

But Don, Jr being a cokehead in no way disqualifies him from illegally running all the Trump businesses that are supposed to be held in a blind trust while Senior is president because Junior would never discuss those businesses with his father because he, Junior, is the trustworthy kind of drug addict, and so is Hunter Biden when there's a chance that trusting Hunter would smear Joe.

 It's simple, really.

Fuck it! This one to Room 101
