And the game is on.

Love the guy.  Really could have picked a different landing page photograph.

It's really not that hard to pull both a D and an R ballot for both primaries in the same cycle.

Can you imagine a tactical umbrella campaign to keep Trump off the general ballot in a state like Ohio or Florida or North Carolina?  Weld supporters just smother one state with all their time and resources to get Bill over Trump in just that one state, thereby shifting the EC map in total.

i wanna say certain states have rules governing this, but i can't remember specifics.

There are rules against speeding, too.  So obviously I've never done that.

15% of the U.S. population uses their middle name in legal transactions.  You can pull one ballot under a first name, another ballot under a middle name.  Not usually a big game changer.  But if everybody that used their first and middle names interchangeably voted twice, we'd have a situation on our hands.

Sort of like the scam in Office Space.  Enough people use middle name and not middle name, it adds up to a lot?

I take a penny from the 7-Eleven tray now and again.....

I think was the basis of Superman, part 5?  You can get a ballot under your first name and days later, another one under your middle name.  not hard.

Anyway, happy that Weld is in the race.  My support for Castro has been waining as of late.  I don't know his strategy, but I would think smothering a handful of swing states is the best bet to keep Trump off a ballot or two in the general.

Well, first thing is first.  Bill should get somebody to change the fact that putting "Bill Weld 2020" or "Bill Weld for President" in google does not yield his campaign website until page 3.

I'm gonna fax them to let them know what's going on.

And I know what he's doing by not advertising if he's going under the L or R banner.

But the Democratic party is so faction-heavy right now, the early states are going to be a more bitter fight that'll make Hillary/Bernie look like preschool.  So he can't really hope to tilt anti-Trump Democrats from weighing in on the R side particularly with their own intra-state races on the line.  You need a mid-primary state (calendar-wise) that has a very close Governor or Senate race that is gonna bring all the certain and maybe GOP voters out and hope enough of them chime in on POTUS and go with Weld that also happens to be a tilt state for the EC, and mid-calendar is important because by that point some moderates will be tempted to sit out the Democrat primary as a leader emerges and use their one primary cast to beat out Trump via Weld.  That narrows it down and it's a tight path, but good news is you know where to deploy the time and money.  It's not worth pursuing Massachusetts where Bill could easily beat Trump off the general ballot, because those EC's are going to the Democrats anyway.

Arizona (Senate), Indiana (Governor), Kentucky (Senate), Oregon (Senate) are some that come to mind.

Baby steps:

https://www.insidesources.com/poll-weld-closing-in-on-buchanan-benchmark-in-new-hampshire/

According to a new poll conducted by NHJournal/Praecones Analytica, 27 percent of New Hampshire Republicans said they are open to supporting Weld, 55 percent said no and 18 percent were unsure.  Weld is expected to officially enter the GOP presidential primary in the coming days.

I know he’s got no shot but OH MY GOD can you imagine the shitter rage tweets if Trump somehow lost the New Hampshire primary?

He genuinely might have an aneurysm.

My new mission in life is to ensure that Weld primaries the Dotard. Who’s with me!

(All that “I will never support another republican” stuff I’ve been saying is just going to have to wait)

Amash vs Bernie debates would be better.

Bill Weld is foam on the Republican runway for the returning "I WILL NEVER VOTE REPUBLICAN AGAIN!" plane

They were always going to come back home, but I thought it would last at least 1 presidential cycle. But no, of course it won't.

Donald Trump has 90% approval rating among Republicans. He is not going to win any state primary against Trump and it won't even be close.

Just like Howard Schultz, all he is going to do is pull independents away from Democrats.

Which is, if anyone is being genuinely honest, exactly what many actually want.

Plus, Weld had the decency to just bang pornstars back in the 90's...in a time of classy discretion.  The great Chasey Lain for instance.

Are there any other designs for that shirt though? I realize political t-shirts aren't about the graphics, but the brand repetiveness, but c'mon .

I want yard signs too.  Sorry to Castro and whoever becomes the L-party candidate, Bill Weld is our guy.

Important, since Republicans could make some headway with younger voters with liberal social policy/conservative economic strategy.  Read an interesting a couple of years ago about the divide between young, wealthy asians (both cool asians and asian nerds) and older asians.  The article was talking about how Republicans are stupidly blowing a chance to make headway into younger generations of wealthy minorities.

Uh, I'm a big Weld fan going back a ways...but I don't Bill Weld is the way you attract young Asians.

Democrats are going to sacrifice all of their values and beliefs to try and win over Republicans who are just always going to be Republicans.

And they'll lose again.

lol

1) Hell of  day to announce, but Bill Weld don't care.

2) Oh keeper of the internets, can you change the title of this thread to Bill Weld - 2020. (I've submitted report to see if it can be changed.)

3) It's latin, isn't it.

Realistic Expectation:  He will fuck with Trump a bit.

Pipe Dream:  Trump will do something seriously stupid, or new shit will come to light.  Weld will actually win the nomination.

No waaaaaay!:  Weld/Hurd wins Presidency

That's what you get for thinking: Weld/Cruz wins Presidency.  Weld dies a month into office.

On page 1 now!

Just appeared on Fox for a couple of minutes.  Sounds like he's working on trying to get Kasich and some others in the race so "Trump can't dodge debates so easily."

If he appears to be a factor nine months from now as Iowa and New Hampshire are approaching I may throw him some cash. I very much doubt that will be the case, though.

That's the wrong idea.  Who gives a shit how he polls/finishes in Iowa.  That's the traditional thinking of a typical candidate trying to secure their party's full nomination pre-convention.  You literally think as critically as a politician in the 1980's.  You literally think as critically as Pat Buchannan.

What Weld supporters need to do, besides broadcast his platform that is more in line with more of America than probably anybody in 2020 not named Biden, is simply support Weld in a state or two where Trump is vulnerable on the GOP side.  That fucking ego looks forward to the battle with the democrat candidate.  That's what the Democrats don't understand.  His base will be rallied and even drag out some dead relatives.  But what Trump won't be able to handle is the very party that has embarassingly cow-towed to him in the last few years allowing Gov. Weld to beat him in 1 or 2 states.  It's the only thing Trump won't be able to handle in 2020.  I know many of y'all think (and read this in my black sassy female standup comedian voice), "Oh no, Trump can't handle (insert D name."  But that's just it, we know he can't intellectually.  But he'll sure as shit handle them in a general election on the media landscape.  But Weld taking Trump down on a ballot or two, even though Trump will insult him...will get as close to breaking this man as Mueller.

ANyway, Iowa doesn't matter.  Trump losing a handful of delegates to weld somewhere else down the road will mindfuck him like only Ivanka can.

Yeah, we were really hoping to break 10% particularly with Walsh off the ballot.

as it stands, 9%, great speech, and At least we know Midwest Trump voters who love hockey voluntarily think there are college hockey arenas that hold 50,000 people.  I wish I could follow those people around as they look at new spaces...”wow, I bet this Applebee’s holds 8,000 people.   There’s gotta be 4,000 people on this Spirit flight.  My kid’s third grade classroom holds 700 kids.”
