Yeah, they might want something to help mask this kind of work from passengers. I suggest this:

bullshit. if they did they'd have blue tape and some blue bailing wire to hold it in place.

Ha ha. What a dope. I hope for his family’s sake that his stupidity is because he’s a 50 yo man who has never been on an airplane before.

Passenger Zip-Tied And Duct Taped After Allegedly Punching Flight Attendant On Pittsburgh To Dallas American Airlines Flight

https://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2019/06/19/pittsburgh-dallas-flight-drunk-passenger-emergency-landing/

About this time last year on a flight from Pitt to Dallas, shortly before we left the gate, a chick got escorted off the plane for being drunk as fuck and making a scene.

The Pitt airport is cheap as fuck to drink at.

We had a guy like this on our last Southwest flight. Got so bad with him trying to shove his oversized bag the wrong way even with one of the FAs trying to help him that the FA got on the intercom and coached him from the back of the plane. Said if you break the overhead, no one is leaving. This was also after the same FA told the passengers not to put their backpacks in the overheads so we didn’t have to be delayed with having to check carry ons for those still getting on the plane. And a dumbass gets up and immediately puts his backpack in the overhead. FA close by looks at me and we just shake our heads.

Why is it that Southwest flights seem to have little issues with too many carry ons that people are told to check yet every AA flight I’m on they tell people in group 7 and later that they’re SOL? Because bags fly free on SWA?

What airline was that on?   Aside from his absolutely profound idiocy, I'm also curious what he was talking to her about.  He spends 3-4 seconds saying something to her when she approaches him, what could it possibly be?  And I like the little extra taps at the end, as if to say, "Yeah, I see now what you meant, but just let me push a couple more times because I'm still skeptical that a woman could know more than I do."

You understand that SWA just rolls their bag fees into their ticket prices right?

No but it wouldn't surprise me. SWA stopped being cheap a while back. We used Chase points to fly on them as the 1:1 points from Chase point to SWA points is pretty good. My question was more about why there seems to be more room on SWA overheads versus AA overheads and was that because more people check their bags on SWA because they don't have to "pay" the fee you normally do on AA?

Perhaps those two normal “free” checked bags help lead to that. It probably also depends on route and time of year as to whether you’re amongst leisure travelers who are likely packing the kitchen sink, business travelers or a mix.

However, I just shake my head at the notion that the airlines aren’t getting their pound of flesh out of you by either adding an averaged bag fee to their ticket prices on the front end, or charging fees in addition to basic airfare.

SWA is basically a legacy with legacy ticket prices that masquerades as a low cost carrier. They do still probably have the best customer interactions though.

Fuck the gate agents for even letting him take the bag on board.

Fuck, I'm so tired of carry ons that exceed the size limits and the airlines doing shit about it.

Ever flown Frontier?

I’ve written a few times here or TOS, but I’ve twice written WN with the names of cabin crew members for outstanding service. Once for being incredibly understanding when my (then) 1.5yo just wanted to walk the aisle and jabber at strangers in the galley, and another time for how they gave a mom a break who was at the end of her rope with her 3yo and 6yo kids...they did another snack service with the 6yo who earned $11 in tips and walked the 3yo around a few times, the break seemed to do everyone good as the rest of the trip was chill...I didn’t even have kids yet but that experience blew my mind.

SWA is very good at hiring people who love people as opposed to hiring people and giving them a set of rules by which they should abide that will hopefully result in them treating others well.  I've seen instances like you've noted on pretty much every airline, but they seem to happen more at WN.  Having said that, it's not my job or it's not my problem is a pretty common mindset in the airline industry, and its fascinating watching how many will not go one iota above their defined role while exuding excellence within that stricture.

This thread is about to get pretty active tonight and tomorrow morning.  Dallas radar just went down in a big storm.  Trying to get my kids up there tonight and it's not looking like it will happen on any airline.

One thing that’s cool about SWA is that they don’t try to fuck you over when you need to change flights.

Agreed. Their gate agents and ease of changing flights stands head and shoulders above the rest.

I wanted to say Delta due the color scheme until I turned up the volume on the clip.  The passengers were lucky it was not  here in the US because the fricken TSA would have been notified they missed a knucklehead and it would have delayed the flight.

Had a cold shiver down my spine last night.  Wife wanted to change seats on the final leg, so she did.  For 10 terrorizing seconds I waited for some fuckup or "see airline agent" but it seemed to do down well.  Now all I have to dread is getting to the airport and finding out that we booked ourselves out of any seats.

Paranoid much?  Nah, remember the thread... we're talking American.

Absolutely and it makes a huge difference in boarding and exiting.  Airlines should charge extra for carry ons

We were on this flight.   In addition to drunk and loud he injured a flight attendants shoulder and head butted a guy making the other passengers nose bleed.  About 6 or 7 large passengers assisted to hold him down and secure him in the seat.

We diverted to OKC then took off for Dallas after he was removed.  I thought it was funny that at the Dallas baggage carousel it had the correct flight number for our flight but listed it as a flight from Oklahoma City and not Pittsburgh.

What confuses me about this story is that it appears like that is the Y cabin. Why the hell isn't someone with Cam Newton’s money not buying a seat in J?

You don’t get wealthy by spending it.

I think I would have told him to fuck off just because fuck Cam Newton.

I would have least made a counter offer.

It was a domestic flight, you can tell by the seats.  Cam was in the back because he was probably flying last minute and BC was sold out or already upgraded.  Assuming it wasn't a transcon, take the $$.

He was willing to shell out $1500 cash to get a better seat in Y. Don’t think he’s against spending money.

I didn't watch all the way to the end.  It looked like a single row aircraft....when camera shifts at the end its obviously a wide body

All my team members live in hub cities....Dallas, DC, Chicago, NY, Detroit, and Mex City with the exception of one.  She lives in Raleigh.  Guess which one is late or struggles to get to every team meeting...

Non-hub cities are probably best to live in but are a beeotch if you travel for bidness
