you two nut jobs are the only people i would ask this based on posting history...

grabbing a bottle of salon for a gift.  have either of you compared the 2012 to the 2013 and have any opinions on the superior vintage?

I’ve not had either of those, but based on the other 2012s and 2013s I’ve had, I think I lean toward 2012. With that said, you can’t go wrong with either. Just one question - how does one get on your gift list?

If this is for Valentine’s Day and she’s a keeper, go with 2002 and there will likely be some magic, if you know what I mean.

Has anyone heard of the Francois Audouze wine dinners?  He hosts a number of dinners throughout the year (12 in 2024) and opens up his 40,000 bottle cellar.  They are usually in Paris and are not cheap (~$2,300 - $6,800), but would be a bucket list experience for me.  Here is a sample of some of the wines he's served.

The knock on Audouze has long been that while you might strike gold, plenty of his older bottles are just not in great shape, which isn't surprising considering their age. But it becomes a problem when he refuses to acknowledge bad bottles and you're paying thousands of dollars to drink them. That said, I'd be tempted, depending on the lineup.
