Kushner, Egypt’s Sissi discuss Israel-Palestinian peace process     Egyptian president calls for a two-state solution, with East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital

Quote

US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner and his special envoy Jason Greenblatt met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi on Thursday to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

Sissi told the US diplomats, who are touring the region in a bid to revive long-stalled talks, that Egypt supports a “just and comprehensive settlement” to the conflict.

He argued in favor of a “two-state solution on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Palestine,” the presidency said in a statement.

That’s been Egypt’s position since no later than January 26 1976.

On 24 March 2016, two Palestinians armed with knives, Ramzi Aziz al-Tamimi al-Qasrawi and Abdel Fattah al-Sharif, approached an Israeli military post manned by soldiers of the Shimshon Battalion of the IDF's Kfir Brigade in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood of Hebron and stabbed an Israeli soldier in the hand and shoulder, moderately injuring him.  The soldiers opened fire, killing al-Qasrawi and seriously injuring al-Sharif. A few minutes later, reinforcements arrived, including Elor Azaria, a medic from the battalion. Azaria approached the wounded al-Sharif and fatally shot him in the head while standing less than two meters away.

A medic executing a wounded attempted murder suspect got 18 months.  Israeli right went apeshit.  So they knocked it down to 14 months.  That didn't quiet them down much at all.  They let him out in 9 months.  Actually, 2 days early so he could attend his brother's wedding in March.  They threw a Purim parade for him in Hebron a few days later.

Care to comment on the Israelis murdered by terrorists driving cars into crowds. A couple of weeks ago, 3 young Israelis were killed, ages 20-22. That happens on average of 1 a month. I don't remember. Did you post about the horrible stabbings that Palestinians did to Israelis for  months for no reason while they were walking down a street. Maybe you can explain why a terrorist stabbed and murdered a Rabbi and his wife in front of their 3 children a number of months ago.

I also must have missed your postings thanking the IDF for another Operation Good Neighbor. A few weeks ago, the IDF brought tons of medical, supplies, food, clothing and any other needed supplies to 4 Syrian refugee camps in southern Syria and they do it several times a year. Northern Israeli hospitals are full of Syrian refugees and Israeli hospitals in the south are full of Palestinians especially children.

And you probably don't know this but Palestinian terrorists and their families receive compensation when committing acts of violence against Israelis.

Like I said.. both sides have much to answer for.

The commentary in that pile of horseshit is absolutely horrifying.

Israel has killed 2 medics, one a girl shot in the back, 2-4 well tagged journalists and lots of innocent unarmed protestors - 2 guys in wheelchairs shot in the head.  They have killed about 150 protestors on the Gaza border this year alone. Not to mention the weekly killings of West Bank protestors, home demolitions, settler burning crops, vandalizing cars, smashing home windows etc. etc. For 50 years. It's understandable why the Palestinians are pissed off at the daily dehumanization.

Sort of inconsistent there.

Claiming to be an “isolationist” implies the possession of an ideology. Trump has none.

That kid was lucky. Hamas has a long history of sneaking into the homes of Israelis and slitting the throats of 6 month old babies., young children and their parents while they slept. Or he could have been shot in the back by Palestinians as has happened quite often in the past in hopes of getting bad PR to the Israelis.

That's our only real alliance in the region. Unless you want Iran to slaughter the Jews you should support a Jewish Israel. Billions in exchange for some stability there is worth it.

you think the middle east is stable now? An unstable mideast isn't much of a danger to the US. Never has been.

unrelated completely to US support for Israel. In fact, supporting Israel makes them more willing to attack Americans, but keep in mind that Al Qaeda hasn't had the Israeli issue in their top most priorities.  Nice diversion there to tie in 9/11 to Israel, simply does not exist.

9/11 was not caused by mideast instability though, but by US support of Saudi Arabia which AQ hates more than anyone in the world.

The Israeli crowd was so happy when Dr. Ed Said passed away about 10 years ago as he was an eloquent spokesman for the other side. I fear the same will happen when Jimmy Carter goes soon, the heavily pro Israeli media in the US will ignore his death and many Israelis will celebrate.

I'd never seen him speak before I saw that video. He was a snooze as a writer, sadly, but that answer is very eloquent.

Fast paced history lesson with an objective perspective.

It's an attempt at whitewashing. For example, he says that Israel's counterargument to the settlements is "well Palestine isn't really a state."

First, that's not even true. Go back even to the days of Moshe Dayan and you'll find him and the cabinet openly admitting that what they were doing was illegal. That's not really a dispute.

Second, the few blowhards that do offer a defense is that the territory onto which the Israelis have encroached is "a buffer to terrorism." Fucking lame as that is, it has nothing to do with whether or not Palestine is a state.

Third, no one takes that claim seriously and the person in the video does nothing to rebuff it. He states a very valid claim by the Palestinians, a very weak rebuttal that's only offered by a handful of Israel's supporters (not even actual Israelis offer that argument), and pretends like those are equally valid claims. When people do shit like this, they enable the military occupiers. Fake objectivity is nothing more than an affirmation of the status quo (another example of these are the massive omissions of the Clinton era).

this is some wild ass shit going down.. Israel supports Al Qaeda linked Wahabbis in Syria... with a photo as proof. The recent heralded evacuation of "white helmets" , a humanitarian group, had some jihadis mixed in.

https://www.globalresearch.ca/israel-evacuated-alleged-mossad-linked-rebel-commanders-during-humanitarian-white-helmet-rescue/5648476

According to Al Masdar News, four rebel commanders were evacuated by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which oversaw the evacuation operation: Moaz Nassar and Abu Rateb, of Fursan al-Golan (the Knights of Golan); Ahmad Nahs, of Alwiyat Saif al-Sham (Sword of al-Sham); and Alaa al-Halaki; of Jaish Ababeel. Al Masdar’s sources also stated that those same four commanders had previously been recruited by Israeli intelligence early in the conflict and had maintained ties with the Mossad over the years.

A photo from the Israel, Syrian border along the Golan Heights shows IDF soldiers conversing with suspected Jabhat al Nusra fighters.

=========

The assertion made by Al Masdar that the rescued rebel commanders had connections to Mossad is also in keeping with precedent, as the intelligence agency has long helped bolster terror groups throughout the region. For instance, Mossad has supported the terror group Jundallah, active in Iran and Pakistan, and the Iranian terror group Mujahedeen Khalq (MEK). And, as MintPress has previously reported, even some commanders of ISIS (Daesh) were later revealed to actually be Mossad agents following their capture.

notice the pro Israeli people are no longer arguing any points - because the 'conflict' is so over that they've lost interest in quibbling. Many years ago, you'd have lots of debate, now they are are completely bored since Israel is crushingly dominant in all aspects.

This is pretty much true.   And also, there's not much left to argue about.  I mean, you can only argue so many times about the exact same things.   Especially when events on the ground have either mooted those old arguments or largely proven the Israeli side right.  The reality is that the strategies and arguments of the Palestinians and their advocates, starting with the Second Intifada, have been a massive failure.  Arguments about Israel's right to exist, etc., are about as relevant today as arguing over Manifest Destiny in the US.   The only discussion worth having now is, "what's the best way for the Palestinians to get something to call a country, given that Israel will continue to exist within at least its current borders."   But until the anti-Israel side accepts that as a given, there's not much point in arguing about stuff that no longer matters.

israel has not been proven to be "right". The Jews and other pro Israeli supporters no longer argue because Israel is now 100% crushingly dominant. They are bored with the topic.

Palestine will never be a country because Israel doesn't want it as Netanyahu has stated. The "2 state solution" is code for maintaining the status quo.

If the Arabs successfully start attacking Israelis again such as a decade ago, the Israeli supporters will again appear on Forums, due to an increased worriment level. Now they are perfectly relaxed at the 100% levels.

Nah, we argue about every tiny thing on these boards, no matter how relaxed we are about the issue.  The argument on this topic is mostly dead for the reasons I gave.

And your post is a perfect example illustrating my point.  The pro-Israel side has long argued on these boards, going back to hornfans twenty years ago, that Israel's existence is fact, that the Palestinians should accept defeat and negotiate the best deal they can get — giving up their pie-in-the-sky demands like so-called right of return — and that the Palestinians should halt all terrorism, or else they will continue to lose ground and options while Israel gets stronger and stronger.    The anti-Israel side, by contrast, contended that Israel was evil, that it had no right to exist at all, and that the Palestinians and their supporters should press that case around the world until they get their non-starter demands met.  But you still can't accept that we were right, even as it plays out in reality, and the best case scenario for the Palestinians gets worse and worse.   Yes, Israel is dominant today, which only confirms the many failures of the anti-Israel side.

Your arguments have not persuaded enough people to your side because they are flawed.  Your strategies have not achieved any success because they are unrealistic.  Meanwhile, Palestinians in the territories live in squalor, and Israel is thriving more than ever and expanding through settlements.   But instead of looking inward, it's all Netanyahu's fault.  Keep fucking that chicken, I guess.  It's just not worth the arguments any more.

no, Israel has only proven to be dominant, not right,  and that is why the Israeli side is so bored of the topic.  Settlement expansion means never a 2 state, which the Jews don't want, never did really in the purest sense of sovereignty. Might = right is a bogus argument promulgated by bullies, in any issue.

thanks for the bump though, I want people to see how the IDF is supporting Al Qaeda as the picture shows. I gave them the benefit of the doubt but now I am convinced.

You are correct. There will be a Palestinian country when hamas changes its charter and Palestinian mothers love their children more than they hate the Israelis. These people have constantly screwed up. They could have had their own country. Instead  that piece of crap Arafat who wasn't even Palestinian said no because he survived and made a couple of billion on keeping Israel as the enemy. Soon after, he started the Intifada and a lot of people were killed and wounded unnecessarily.

Orca, Israel is a technological superpower despite the fact that they are in  a constant state of war, spend a large percentage of  their economy on defense and that they have a draft for the majority of their high school kids. They want a Palestinian country and it was once negotiated. If Israel could have their security guaranteed, it would become a superpower almost immediately and the lives of the Palestinians would benefit immediately. When Palestinian children can have the same goals and dreams as the Israeli children currently do, the Middle East will flourish and become a major economic region where most will benefit.

So you're saying the sooner the Palestinians accept the idea that they're subhuman, undeserving of freedom and equality, and their own country, sovereign, independent, with the right to defend themselves just like everyone else...the better off they'll be?

That's the reality on the ground. You should forgive them if they don't see things the way you do. Trump and Netanyahu have declared that the Palestinians will NEVER have a state. They're fucked and it's official.

good, the 2 Jews have returned, keeps the topic at the top.  Israel does not want a Pal state in the West Bank, that is never going to happen. Gaza is no longer relevant to the concept of statehood in the sense that Israel is no longer interested in annexing Gaza.  Hamas has no relevancy in the WB so all this fluff about the charter is yet another bogus excuse to keep occupying the west bank.  Arafat has been dead for about 14 years, I wonder how long the Israelis will keep using him as an excuse to continue the oppression, another 50 years? hmm.. 200 years from now?  Hey, I'm so happy our 2 Jewish spinster friends have return. Bump bump bump, it's healthy.

No, because your assumptions are false.  Yes, the Palestinians are in a worse place now than twenty years ago, when this conversation started on hornfans, and in exactly the way that the pro-Israel side predicted.  They could still come away with something better than they have, but the only way that can ever happen is if they change their approach.
