My fondness for Journey

First time I ever heard or saw them was on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert.  They played 'Wheel in the Sky' and I became a fan.  I think Escape was the beginning of the end for Perry's career.  On the subject of the Escape tour, I caught the show at the Texas Jam.  They headlined it.  Perry and Schon were on top of their game.  They followed Santana.

The first concert I saw at the FEC was Journey on their Raised on Radio Tour. Glass Tiger opened. Amazing at 17 to see a band that was obviously in disarray & going through the motions was eye opening. Hard to imagine another band that can conjure up all of the senses associated with an early-mid '80s Camaro than Journey.

My Camaro album moment was Metallica's Ride the Lightning, late 80s and righteous.  Lots of Chevy Nova Journey moments though. Been listening to them at work a lot.  Somebody has to make the fries around here.

Journey put out some good stuff, but some absolute dreck as well.  And they will never live down the fact that they allowed this video to see the light of day.

It was 1983... MTV was the hot thing, but bands still didn't understand how to harness this new medium & "directors" had no clue what to do.

I'm very surprised it's been this long without any updates for thread without comments about the internal lawsuits.

Don’t Stop Litigatin’: Journey Bandmates Are Battling in Court Yet Again  The band's two key members are back in court, fighting over a "deadlock" that has created a "toxic environment" and left the band in a "precarious financial situation."

The never-ending legal battle between Journey members Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon erupted again this week, with Cain filing a new lawsuit against Schon over claims that his “exorbitant” spending is threatening to cripple the band’s touring operations.

In a complaint made public in Delaware court on Tuesday (July 30), Cain claimed that Schon’s alleged spending — including unilaterally chartering private jets and charging personal expenses to their shared American Express card — has led to a “deadlock” that must be resolved.
