Good work everyone,  so glad the competent, but off putting government lady irritated so much you took a flyer on a reality tv star.  Or showed us how upset you were with the status qou by voting for the insane guy from New Mexico.

Anyone noticed that when shit really hits the fan, not even Republicans pretend to espouse conservative views? The only debate is how far to the left we drift in times of crisis.

I don’t know. Browbeating the olds into dying for a Dow Jones bump seems like it’s in the wheelhouse of conservative views. They’re espousing the shit out of that idea.

edit: it gets worse:

Quote

That same day, the legislation for the bailout was put before the United States House of Representatives and failed 205–228, with one not voting. Democrats voted 140–95 in favor of the legislation, while Republicans voted 133–65 against it.[130][131][132] During the legislative session, at the conclusion of the vote, the presiding chair declared the measure, HR3997, to be unfinished business.[133]

and even worse:

Quote

On January 28, 2009, the House passed the bill by a 244–188 vote.[14] All but 11 Democrats voted for the bill, and 177 Republicans voted against it (one Republican did not vote).[15]

Corporatism isn’t a left position. Bailing out companies seems to be a fundamental Republican policy these days.

so massaging unemployment numbers to jolt the stock market.  i'm not a student of financial history, so what typically happens next?

stock market soaring while 30% of america is unemployed seems like step 1 in a 3 step program to get us to thunderdome.

bailing out the economy, which was necessary (even if shittily done) is republicans crying about the debt/whatnot when the shit hit the fan.  because they knew they'd already lost the election.  left the responsible people to do something.
