Gus might disagree.

AA has championship-level experieince as a coach.    It's not like ASU or RICE hiring nobody former players.  Gus was a baseball coach (as well as a basketball coach) in high school.

He's 40.

Dude.

I would love it if AA ended up as a successful coach here. But he's got a LONG way to go in his career first.

Probably not a good idea to fire a coach who has made 3 CWS in the last four years. But we absolutely have to launch the pitching coach into the sun the minute the season ends, this is dogshit

He's failing in the Big 12.  What do you think is going to happen next year?

Those teams did it despite Pierce no because of him..  Called that last year.  Pierce was riding on talent that wanted to play for Texas.  Then he made himself the pitching coach and even screwed the talent part up.  Troy Tulowitzki saved his ass for a couple years.

So much is incorrect about this statement.

Pierce has made the College World Series three times in seven full seasons at Texas. It will be two of the last four after this one.

Are you aware that Pierce is also the pitching coach this season; after hiring, and firing, poor pitching coaches repeatedly, and now making himself the third one in the past three seasons? So, in summary, launching the pitching coach into the sun would be literal definition of "firing" Pierce.

It’s not as far fetched as you think. He’s made Sinton in to even more of a force then they were, and he’s developed a few MLB caliber prospects since he took over. And most of them aren’t from Sinton either. Some say they moved there just to be coached by him, but if not then that means he’s got decent recruiting experience as well.

Which is a good resume to become a coach at the next level, but not the highest level. Not by a long shot.

So, let me get this straight.

The majority of this board has historically complained about (and regretted) hiring Pierce from SHSU, other coaches from the non-P4 level in football/basketball, and coaches in general without significant postseason skins prior to Texas (also Pierce), and you don't think hiring a high school coach to be the head coach at arguably the most historic college baseball program is far fetched?

Little Nigel and a couple of teammates were recruited by both UT and A&M.  I am not surprised at all at what Schloss has put together so quickly.

At camp, Schloss was in full uniform, and met every player after they checked in.  He was fully engaged and in charge of everything.
UT and Pierce were much more of the “We are UT, you should want to play here,” but weren’t going to bend over backwards to recruit.  Schloss was the opposite.

UT was very arms length and I didn’t know a lot of the kids they recruited (and the ones I know are questionable).  I knew a lot more of the kids A&M was after.

Teammate ended up with LSU even though part of family is Aggie.  Schloss can be tough too, but he is a relentless recruiter.  Pierce and his assistants are not.

And let’s get off the hiring of a HS coach.

We’re just going to ignore the like 3 posters that said they wanted Alaniz too before I even posted? It’s not a hot take at all.

It was one - petscii. You two are the only morons suggesting Texas hire a 4A high school coach as it's next head coach.

Regardless, it's a moot point. That's just about the opposite of CDC's hiring method. Thank God he won't make such a stupid decision.

Recruiting in high school is one thing. Recruiting I. The sec where everyone pays is another.  But yea congrats to sinton for stealing athletes from Ben bolt and Agua Dulce

Add in historically high strike out rates for batters under Pierce as well. No clue what they work on in practice in terms of hitting, batting approach. See guys that are 3-1 swinging at balls bouncing in dirt rather than take walk, see guys 0-2 watch ball just go right down the middle for called S3, team is just dumb at plate.

He has lost this team and to limp into SEC with his ass is not an option. Texas doesn’t want to show up year 1 in SEC and just get face raped in baseball.
