He lost me Tuesday night.

Handicapping the coaching possibilities is interesting.

I wasn't suggesting it should stop, just that I'll watch and not participate.

Feels a lot like the start of late era Barnes.  he's had 1 bad year, 1 not good year, 1 meh year, 1 good year and 3 CWS appearances. this year is looking to be in the not good or even bad pile.

The issue is he's going the wrong way at the absolute wrong time and the ship could sink.  he chose to be the pitching coach and it is a decision he will have to live with.

My top 3 Candidates would be:

Erik Bakich - Clemson
Mitch Canham - Oregon St
Tom Walter - Wake

A couple of guys I'd kick tires on:

Rob Vaughn - Bama
Cliff Godwin - ECU

what’s their track record with the portal ?

If we lose the  majority of our remaining schedule it will not bother me if it helps in getting rid of David Pierce.

It will bother me. A lot.

And I still want him gone.

Fuck this shit. Too much chaos in the system. No fucking way Texas’ season should be seemingly teetering on a knife’s edge for three straight years. He is the only constant. Unanimous preseason #1 to needing a heroic comeback just to make it to game three on the road in Supers. Relying on sparsely-used vets having exceptional seasons out of the blue when they weren’t even being counted on to be regular contributors when the season began, while the guys expected to be reliable contributors regress at stupefying levels. At some point, banking on good fortune late starts to look like complete incompetence. Poor pitching, bad defense, horrible execution. If you can’t beat the teams you are supposed to beat at home, you are absolutely fucked in the SEC. It’s over. Time for a change.

What if we upset Aggy in the regional? Does that buy him another season?

Not sure yet if this Texas team even gets invited to a regional...

It shouldn’t. Making a regional is the bare minimum expectation. This team sucks

Win the series and we are still in 3rd in conference. Plenty of baseball left for a successful season.

Hi Mrs. Pierce.

Nope. Getting to the tournament is not the standard.

Agreed. Remember those 2 shitty games at DBU's regional? It would be like that, but probably worse.

I am just going to say that all of you Pierce haters are going to look foolish over the next several years.

The end.

You finally get off the Pierce bandwagon?  Only good hire he ever made was Tulo.

Caleb Longley was a phenomenal hire, he makes that hire a year sooner and it may have saved his job

If the AD runs his ass out of here, this is what will sink him.  He has no scapegoat, no pitching coach to fire to save his own ass.  He made the very poor decision to put the noose around his own neck.

Its not, but it buys him another year with a short leash

Herman beating Utah solidly in the Alamo Bowl didn’t save him…….

Just getting to a regional as a 4th seed is not our standard.    We except to not only host a regional, but the super the following weekend.    That is why the majority of the State High School baseball tourney is no longer played at the Disch.

I’ve been MIA for a few days due to a death in my immediate family.

Is David Pearce still our coach?

I don’t want to be the guy to give you more bad news, so softball is still ranked #1.

He did not coach the games Tuesday, or Friday.   He also did not coach any games today!

This motherfucker is going to luck into being unfireable at the end of the season.  Puke.

After a likely regional exit.

It's likely that CDC already knows whether or not Pierce is his guy heading into the SEC. I don't believe he's really in "wait and see" mode on Pierce. I certainly could be wrong, but CDC has made it known he wants all programs set up to compete immediately.

My expectation is he will be back for next season but the SEC schedule will take him down for good.

I'd rather not have the lost season but we're such pussies when it comes to dropping the hammer at the right time.

Yep. There is nothing that says he has to return if he hits X goal. If you want to move on, you move on. We moved on from Herman after a 7-3 season where we ended the year with a bowl win and ranked in the top 20.

I agree that the decision has likely been made one way or another and the only way that changes is some extreme outcome (lose out, win the whole damn thing, etc).

Same. CDC knows his decision already.

If CDC has made his decision he sure as hell better have his replacement lined up. It's always a crap shoot when there are no Augie Garrido's out there. We "Texas" think we can always get anyone we want, but some coaches simply don't want to leave where they're at for any amount of $.

I think he's never been to Omaha.

He’s basically Walter minus the trip to Omaha that took 14 years. 2 supers in 6 years at program that didn’t even know they had baseball. I think he’s a quality option but obviously lower on the list of candidates.
