I’m 45.5yo.  Do I really need a camera up my butt, or is this just an ass/cash grab?

Best "Worst" case you're all clear and won't go back for 10 years. Worse case you will glad you did it earlier rather than later.

It's a no lose situation and you get propofol (make sure you are getting propofol).....

Just had my second one at 62.  Two very small polyps were removed (same as at 52) so I’m guessing I’m good for another 10 years.  I’m waiting on the follow up.  Had propofal and it was nice but not as nice as the first time.  Prep is the only unpleasant part.

Sigh.  Some buddies and I took my old man out for a birthday dinner last night at a brazilian steakhouse.  Salad bar, all the meats, delicious, great time had by all.

Got to my dad's place to drop him off....had to drop a deuce.  Went home to watch the rest of the Austin FC match...had to hit the shitter three times.  Went to bed.  Woke up at 2:30, cramping like hell, on the shitter on and off for 40 minutes.

Goddammit, I'm just too old to eat like that (I just don't eat platters full of red meat these days).  Body can't handle it.

True fact: at a physical at Mayo and my reg doc walks in with a student. A large one. Whose hand shake felt exactly like the time I shook Charles Barkley’s hand.

The answer to the question you are now asking yourself is yep.

IDKWTF happened but I woke up yesterday and my left calf hurt like a MF. It's not a cramp, more like I pulled a muscle. I haven't done anything to strain it. Can barely bend my ankle before my calf is screaming. Right leg is just fine.

Go get it checked out, TODAY.  Sounds like a deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or a blood clot.  If that's what it is, you don't want part of it breaking off and going elsewhere in your system like your lung (pulmonary embolism) or your brain (stroke).

I can’t really do red meat for dinner anymore.  Can’t sleep well and feel off the next day.  I also have to limit smoked meat.  It really sucks getting old in some ways.

While it does need to be checked out, there is almost no detail that suggests this is a DVT over something else. Unless you have some Internet prognostic skills then there’s a lot more history that needs to be discussed before you start throwing out diagnosis like that.

I’ve probably posted this two or three times over the last several years and on the other site as well, there’s no need to despair about your 60’s and 70’s.  Stay fit, lose weight (if needed) and be active and the golden years can be awesome.  Read Younger Next Year.  It’s a book by a retired NY lawyer and his internist about staying fit into your 80’s.  Eat right, exercise and your 60’s and 70’s can be fabulous.  Then again, there’s a reason that life expectancy is still mid 70’s.

And, of note, his Harvard-trained  internist died of prostate cancer in his fifties because HE NEGLECTED TO GET A PHYSICAL!!!!!

Wonder why they spend 8 years in school to perform that when they can do it for free behind the bush in Pease Park
