I’m a big fan of Liuzza’s on Bienville too but I understand they are under new management. Not as much of a poboy place but love those schooners of beer and killer food too.

Oh yeah I’ve been several times since the new ownership (and quasi-seriously entertained the idea of buying it at the time). I wouldn’t say that anything has changed much, they just modernized the kitchen and got rid of the gambling corner for another table. They also stuck with the patio tables they began during COVID, which we’ve enjoyed.

Agree on Ruby Slipper.  It's still a quality brunch stop, and the Bloody Mary is a wonderful hair of the dog to start the day.  I probably posted a picture of my brunch fare several pages back.

Despite being a chain and the existence of several other solid brunch spots in town, there's always a decent line when it opens, so unless you get there early, expect a bit of a wait.

I'm an early riser (even when boozing) but NOLA is one of those cases where I'm ok with a line at a restaurant.  We'd probably just grab to-gos from the liquor store next to our hotel and get the HOTD rolling on the commute.

My days will start with getting up early (6AMish) and either running around the Garden District or hitting the eliptical/weights in the hotel workout room to sweat the hangover out.  An old trick I learned growing up on a farm.  Sweat profusely, coffee, shower, eye opener.  Feel like a new man.

Plowing the wife first thing in the morning is also good for a hangover.  Trust me, I'm a lawyer.

The best poboys I've had in years were at Liuzza by the Track, when I was there a couple of months ago. It's not in the Garden District, but well worth the 15 minute uber to the Fairgrounds. BBQ shrimp poboy is the GOAT for me, and their other poboys were incredible as well.

Finally made it there last May and it might be my favorite spot for poboys now.

Tipitina’s is my favorite venue on the planet, as my avatar suggests. WWOZ Livewire is all you need for what’s going on music-wise. After Tip’s, I like Maple Leaf  (much smaller venue where many famous acts have had residencies) and Carrollton Station if going way uptown and Howlin’ Wolf in CBD. Used to like Chickie Wah Wah in Mid-City but they changed ownership a while back and idk how they are now.

Frenchman is of course the easiest choice and doesn’t require a long car ride (dba and Blue Nile have the best acts), but it’s become Bourbon Street at night these days.

Just decided to go over Easter weekend, anyone do it extra grand for Easter Brunch?

We did Emeril's a few years ago, but I don't think brunch is an option there any longer since his son took over. Wherever you decide, get on the reservations as early as possible, as they fill up quickly. <capt obvious>

Even if you don't go to mass, it's worth it to watch the parade/procession beforehand, weather permitting. I think it starts at Arnaud's and winds through the quarter, people in horse drawn carriages, old convertibles with all their finery on is quite the scene.

Thanks - I am looking forward to watching that.

I certainly have been there right before lent starts, but never as it ended before.

You kids help @texasdago out.

We always like most Frenchman street places. Howling wolf is good on sundays because Hot 8 brass band has a residency there. Preservation hall is good to go at least once, as is maison bourbon, if u are in the quarter

Oyster spots in Uptown or Garden District?

Google hunting gave me Cooter Brown's at the west end of St Charles.  Looks like my kind of place, but I'm sure there's plenty of other places around town too.

Getting in Wednesday around 1.  Ready to be childless and out of the cold (of course it's going to be unseasonably warm up here while we're gone) for a few days.

We were last in New Orleans in 2016 and people told us right away to hit Frenchman to get away from the Bourbon Street vibe, but it was definitely a huge ass party on Frenchman at that point.  I preferred it to Bourbon Street for sure, but it wasn't exactly low key.

We watched the Texas/OSU B12 CG at Cooter Brown’s. Cool place, food was good.

The oyster bar in Pascal Manales. Eat oysters while you wait for a table and then eat the bbq shrimp once you are seated.
