I've read back a few pages and tried to get resers at a few places mentioned but striking out.  Plus a lot of spots are closed on Mondays.

I will be driving to Florida Monday. Staying the night at the Hilton Canopy downtown. Ill get in around 4ish. Relax shower and head out. Just need something fairly casual but good. Price not really an issue.  I'll be solo so I'd probably prefer to sit at a bar with some good people watching with good food and drinks.   I like all kinds of food.  Would prefer a creole/seafood slant but not big on fried food however.

If I were going to eat Solo in NOLA and price wasn't an option, I'd try to sit at the bar at Restaurant August, but it may be a little fancier than what you are going for.

The bar at GW fins is actually pretty good for people watching, and they serve the full menu there. But it gets crowded.

I've been meaning to try Little Miss at the Four Seasons - it's one of Alon Shaya's restaurants. I've heard good things, but the people watching at the Four Seasons may not be as fun.

Miss River doesn’t have a great bar situation, but Chemin a la Mer upstairs does.

I agree wholeheartedly about GW Fins, as its proximity to Bourbon Street makes the people watching entertainment almost a certainty. That said, going to the far end of the bar is the key. When the overweight fatty wearing only lingerie and a tiara stumbles through that door to order a to-go cosmo, you do not want to be her target of opportunity seated next to the door.

Or, fuck it, having read a bunch of you peoples' takes on women on this board, maybe that would work for some of you.

Enjoyed the quality combo of Tin Roof (nice craft cocktail bar on the roof of the Pontchartrain hotel) and Igor's (quality dive bar/laundromat).  Definitely a yin yang drinking experience and recommend both for very different reasons.

I've got a alert on a table at GW Fins but you guys think I could just get a spot at the bar to eat? Full service?

Yeah, we've eaten at the bar before.  It's the full menu.  I am pretty sure we even had dessert the time we did it.

Was the homeless guy sitting in the middle of St Charles out front of Igor's talking to himself?

Maybe the guy who was in the middle of St Charles by Walgreens... he threw a bottle in the street after a car honked at him.
