My in-laws still have their World Book Encyclopedias and Year Books proudly displayed on the built-in bookshelves behind their main TV.

They were also the last people on the planet to have a rotary phone, so this doesn't surprise me at all.

I don't understand why universities don't realize that having coaches teach classes makes them look like a joke.  It's like they forgot what that was like in high school.

Yeah ASU shouldn't risk their stellar academic reputation like that

Normally, I'd agree with you, but this is the Cronkite School, which is pretty nationally renowned.  Hell, it's not even located in Tempe.

I’m surprised that hipsters haven’t embraced the rotary phone. Maybe they have, I don’t interact with any.

My dad still has a rotary phone in his office and it still works last I checked.  Crazy that the phone company still listens for little clicks.

Had to move Dad out of the family house last year, so we went through the sorting process - things to move, things to donate, things that family members want, and the biggest pile was shit to throw away.
Lots of books - Dad wanted to donate all of them, couldn't find anyone that would take encyclopedias, old phone books, almanacs, etc - but I did snag an 1830's history of Michigan, the book was in horrible shape but the map inside the cover is awesome. I have it framed and setting in my office, I love old maps (especially the ones that look silly compared to modern maps)

Inlaws got rid of theirs only because the phone company told them that rotaries wouldn't work any more.

I think it’s because if they limited naming rights to their own famous alums, every school would be named after porn stars or the guy that invented beer helmets.

I went down the google worm hole reading info on this school. They try very hard to make it look like he went to porn aggy.

I thought this was common knowledge around here dating back to shaggy?

Sand aggy = Tech

Swamp aggy = LSU

Klan aggy = Ole Miss

Porn aggy = ASU

Corn aggy = Nebraska

I'm sure there are a lot more, but those are the ones I remember.

Ok, I'll change it up to "Porn Devil" just for you lol. Never had any issues with ASU. Matter of fact, y'all are pretty tame unless you're a rat. I went to the Utah-ASU game last year (family ties to Utah) and nobody said a single negative thing. Going again this year in SLC for ASU-Utah.

Been to a couple ASU-Utah games in SLC.  Underrated tailgate scene.

I might be there as well this year.

I guess it might not be eligible for the national rankings because it's international,  but the Telemundo Weather Girl School of Looking Hot as Fuck and Speaking Spanish is top notch.

It's sad what the NCAA decides to go after and what they decide to look the other way on.

The NCAA is a toothless tiger. P5 should break away and form a successor organization, since the Stony Brooks and The University of Texases (is that a word?) obviously have little to nothing in common. An organization of, by, and for the big boys makes overwhelming sense from both a theoretical and practical standpoint. Of course, such a successor organization would find itself in exactly the same position as the NCAA does now when it comes to enforcement. Biting the hand that feeds them--i.e., hitting the big-boy violators (tOSU, N.D., ou, the entire SEC) with serious punishments for cheating--won't be any easier then than it is now for the impotent NCAA. It's another fine mess you've gotten us in . . .
