It does me, yes I'm a Christian and their spin on things is absolutely disgusting imo.

You have to keep in mind most of these schools, when founded, have a much higher appreciation for the relationship between faith and education...

But when factoring present day arms race of athletics in major conferences, it's easy to cuddle the line between staying relevant and putting what's right first...

Baylor hoping it will all go away, using the same strategy as UNC.  e.g. it wasn't our athletic department that was morally corrupt, it was the entire university; therefore you have no jurisdiction.

Exclusive: Baylor football considering NCAA bowl ban

Quote

Baylor’s hope to avoid any serious penalty with the Big 12 and NCAA has hit a snag.

According to multiple sources, the NCAA’s multi-year investigation into the Baylor athletic department has taken a “left turn” to the point that school officials are being advised to self-impose sanctions.

Sources said the law firm representing Baylor in its investigation with the NCAA has recommended to school officials that it impose a one-year bowl ban for the 2018 season.

The “Lack of Institutional Control” infraction, which is so vague it can cover virtually any scenario, is the likely potential NCAA violation.

"Multiple senior Baylor administrators knew about a serial sexual assault assailant" in the fall of 2011, but failed to act, according to the court filings.  There's a strong theme running through the motion that, in fact, the administrators knew long before anyone in the athletics department.

"After having engaged in four separate alleged sexual assaults, this predator went on to rape a final Baylor student on April 15, 2012, resulting in criminal conviction and a sentence of 20 years in prison," according to the 38-page motion filed by attorneys Jim Dunnam of Waco and Chad Dunn of Houston.

Baylor should have self-imposed a bowl ban way before the season started. Now it just looks reactionary to the NCAA. Not sure why they felt the need to wait when it was obvious this year was going to be bad to begin with.

well when they win only 4-5 games at most this year then is it really a ban?

Exactly.  What a lame suggestion for a self punishment.  Vacate wins, reduce scholarships, tv ban...then we’ll talk.

The biggest punishment is to take away scholarships. That's what impacts the future.

Take away a bunch of scholarships for a 5 year period and that program is dead.

Yep. That’s essentially what happened to Oklahoma in the late 80s. They were doormat for a decade. Baylor’s natural state is as a doormat, so for them to get back up would take a long time, if it even happens ever again.

At a minimum, the Bowl ban should be initiated in first year that it's applicable.

Exactly.  A two-year bowl ban, for example, should only be considered to have been enacted when two bowl-eligible seasons have passed.

Is this not the case? I assumed that for a bowl ban to work you have to be eligaile for a bowl.

Isn't the bowl ban self imposed?  So it pretty much works however they want it to work.  I would love for something to happen to them, but the fact that we are where we are and none of the institutions in place to punish Baylor have lifted a finger yet, I doubt it ever happens.

We will see movement now that formal allegations have been made by the NCAA. Do you think Elon Musk would fire McLane Stadium into space on his next rocket?

I think as others have mentioned, it needs to be when applicable, and I would go so far as to say it should be 3 seasons...

Kick them out.  Let them join Conference-USA.

I would be fine with any of Cincinnati/ Rice/ New Mexico or BYU as a replacement until end of GoR's...

Let's just airlift Waco to Oklahoma and be done with it.

Old rich white guys might have said racist and sexist things?  Not possible.

Holy shit bro, do you even Baylor??

According to Baylor their school is governed by intelligent and much more morally superior children of God than just us regular Texans.

seriously, as someone who had to hear the lunatic Baptist “Baylor gives you a degree and your SOUL” babble for years, that it’s now public that he is just another fraud is absolutely delicious.

Fuck you.  We already have Lawton.  It's basically the same place.

Abq isn't so bad really. I know a few Austin refugees who've relo'd there. But the state is poor so I don't see a way or an interest in investing to join the B12.

Does Conference USA want them?  Would they be that good/valuable of an addition?  Fuck baylor.  We better not lose to these peckerheads.

In comparison to Waco? Shit, Albuquerque isn't even breathing hard by comparison.

I don't think Waco is a good litmus test for college cities.

Also - it isn't just about the city. UNM isn't a great program or school and in a very meh part of the country.

If we're going to take on another bottom feeder it needs to come with better perks.
