Villa....Everton- Arsenal -West Ham

Watford... West Ham- city- Arsenal

West Ham...Watford- manu- Villa

If I'm Villa I want want a W/L in watford/west ham game...presumably west ham as watford would possibly finish with 3 L's in a row.

That will still require Villa to get 5pts in 3 games though.

Or just 4pts if GD gets skewed heavily in last 3 games...Watford v city ???
Well you got those 4pts....make it 7 and it's over

Villa-West ham
Bournemouth-Everton
Watford-Arsenal

my math could be wrong, so i welcome any corrections...

For Bournemouth to stay up

  • Bournemouth wins (by any score), Villa loses (by any score)Watford loses (by any score)

(GD doesnt enter into it if the above results occur. Yes all would be tied on 34 points, but Bournemouth would have the best GD by the vary nature of the results)

For Villa to stay up

  • Villa wins, Watford wins - but by less than Villa
  • Villa wins, Watford draws or loses
  • Villa draws, Watford draws or loses
  • Villa loses, Watford loses, Bournemouth draws or loses (Villa has the best results in their loss and stays up on GD)

For Watford to stay up

  • Watford wins, Villa wins - but by less than Watford
  • Watford wins, Villa draws or loses
  • Watford draws, Villa loses
  • Watford loses, Villa loses, Bournemouth draws or loses (Watford has the best results in their loss and stays up on GD)

538 predictions..

Villa 44% chance of relegation

Watford 62% chance of relegation

Bournemouth 92% chance of relegation

Pretty much. There are simpler ways to explain it, but that will do.

HOWEVER ...

Don't forget West Ham CAN still be relegated. Because GD is now big time in play for United and Leicester, there is a big incentive for United to RUTS today. While unlikely, a swift 10-0 ass kicking could make things even MORE exciting in relegation.

Assuming that doesn't happen and you want some real excitement root for:

Villa 1, West Ham 0
Watford 7, Arsenal 5

Then you get a 1 game playoff for relegation.

Am I reading things right that a 1 goal win is no better than a draw for Man United?  Either way, on Sunday, they stay ahead of Leicester with a win or draw and go behind with a loss?  If they're able to win by 2+ today then they could afford to lose on Sunday.  With a win today by x (x>1), they could lose by x-1, right?

EDIT - No that isn't right, they'd actually need to win by 3 today to be able to lose by 1 on Sunday.

West Brom promoted back to EPL after locking up 2nd place in the Championship.  Was pulling for Brentford, west london rivals and all, but they couldn't manage to beat Barnsley.

Brentford, Fulham, Cardiff City, and Swansea in a little West London v Wales promotion playoffs

Uh can't Chelsea literally lose this and their last game and still qualify for UCL?

They can.  United would have to beat Leicester next week though.  A draw or a Leicester win and Chelsea would be 5th.

Swansea? Furrk... i was rooing Nottingham Forest to get promoted. Just looked.. Forest had an epic collapse..

DLDDLL in their last six matches.....then today, last match of the season...Forest lost 4-1, while Swanea won 4-1

Final Table Results

6 Swansea 70 points +9 GD

7 Forest 70 points +8 GD

When you look at the scores of the games, you realize that the major collapse happened in the last 30 minutes.

at 61' both games were tied 1-1.

Swansea would score 66', 84' 90+1'

Stoke would score 73', 78' and 90+6' (OG)

that OG in the 6th minute of stoppage time that drops you to 7th... brutal

So what races do we have left?

1 and 2 - done and done. Liverpool is the champion. Man City has #2 wrapped up.

3-5 - 3 and 4 get the last 2 UCL spots and someone's getting left out. United 63/+28 (@ Leicester), Chelsea 63/+13 (vs Wolves), Leicester 62/+28 (vs United).

6-7 - Wolves 59/+13 (@ Chelsea), Spurs 58/+14 (@Palace) - 6th gets Europa, 7th waits for the results of the FA Cup.

8-10 - Teams that can't get higher than 8th, behind Wolves and Spurs: Arsenal 53/+7 (vs Watford), Sheffield 54/+2 (@So'ton), Burnley 54/-6 (vs Brighton),

11-12 - Everton 49/-10 (vs Bournemouth), So'ton 49/-11 (vs Sheffield)

13-14 - Newcastle 44/-18 (vs Liverpool), Palace 42/-19 (vs Spurs)

15-16 - West Ham 38/-13 (vs Villa), Brighton 38/-16 (@ Burnley)

And the aforementioned relegation battle

17-19 - 17th place stays up, 18 and 19 off to the Championship. Villa 34/-26 (@ West Ham), Watford 34/-27 (@ Arsenal), Bournemouth 31/-27 (@ Everton)

20th - already relegated Norwich.

Pep Guardiola on Player of the Year award:

“The winner will be from Liverpool. When we won the Premier League the Liverpool players won. When they win the League, I'm pretty sure they are going to win the Player of the Season. These awards are always for Liverpool.”
