This team will be special, barring injury, by the end of the season. We have about 12 ladies who can really take, and if Mike can find the right 9 on  D, it could be special....

oh, and please keep Miranda out of RF

I think he said he has 14-15 players who can play any day of the week.  Non-conference is good for figuring out the right combos.

The team's goals aren't to go undefeated in non-con, it's to win the Big 12.  Figuring out a lineup and positions before Big 12 play is the most important - and lots of chances to see people perform.

The Big 12 ain't going to be easy

OU is OU, albeit slightly weaker on both sides of the ball
Tech is a top 25 program
OSU is a top 25 program
Baylor is improved after they got decimated by injuries

Baylor ain't gonna be an easy out.

14 wins in a row
16-2

Big wins: #23 Auburn 8-0; Illinois 5-1 and 5-4; #25 Arkansas 3-2; #8 FSU 2-1

5 straight wins by 1 run and 6 of their last 7

Outside of the ou fan, this is pretty cool.

This is why Texas plays these games.  Give the out of state players a chance to play in front of friends and family (Carson is like halfway between UCLA and Fullerton, but probably easier for them to just go to a Thursday game than a tournament)

Damn. LSU has an ace. They’ll be tough come tournament time

Meh, 16 innings? LOL.  To be fair, LSU spreads it around better than most teams - they've pitched 97 innings going into today and no one has over 29 IP.

UW got her for a single and a walk in the 6th and she was replaced.  Error lead to an unearned run.  1-1, runners on the corner, 1 out.

True that was a small sample size wasn't it.

UW wins 3-1

Digging into the box score:

Both teams hit abysmally - 5 for Washington, 4 for LSU - 1 XBH between the 2 (double by LSU)
LSU's defense is shitty - 3 errors
UW plays good defense - 0 errors
5 LOB for both teams

UW only struck out 3 times against LSU and drew 3 walks
LSU struck out 7 times and only drew 3 walks

Lynch threw 93 pitches in 4.2 IP - doubt we see her at all tonight
Moore threw 10 pitches in 02. IP and got the W - could see her tonight
Plain threw 26 pitches in 1.2 IP and got the save - will definitely see her start tonight

Moral of the story - UW hitters are pretty disciplined in not swinging out of the zone and the team plays good defense.  Shea (or Elish) needs to throw strikes and defense has to make routine plays.
