This is humorous coming from you.  You know how it works.  You build a movement to force change by strong uncompromising leadership.

Nope, that's not how it works. Mass popular movements are bottom -> up, not top -> down. This was the Obama strategy, not the Bernie strategy. Obama was the one who was going to inspire a popular movement with the force of his personality and leadership and, well, it didn't work (because it can't work).

Quote

That’s what she is in the process of doing right now.  It’s a similar strategy to meaningful political change as Bernie.

What, specifically, is she doing? Does she have a grassroots organization that exists independent from her campaign pushing candidates and progressive agendas? Where is her army?

I hope she can build it, but I don't see it.

From watching a few clips on Twitter I can say objectively, wholly irrespective of my subjective feelings towards the candidates,  that Tulsi was the clear winner and Liz was the clear loser. Also, Beta can’t speak Spanish for shit.

Not even close.  He defines "empty suit".  Warren is the clear winner.  It's too bad she's a grandma nerd.

Ha, ha, the clear winner tonight is Trump.  The more of these that get shown on TV the more people can see what a shitshow the entire Democrat Party has become.  Here is the entire Democrat Party platform for 2020.

1.  Envy

2.  Jealousy

If Trump can't beat these idiots in an election he deserves to lose.  All of these candidates combined do not have enough critical thinking ability to fill a thimble.

She verbally eviserates him, he calls her Pocahontas.  She gets bright red, makes a more detailed argument.  He sputters a few sentence fragments punctuated with socialism and Pocahontas.

You're nuts if you don't think she'll be ready for that.

So, Mr. Trump, you want to talk about honesty? Lying?

Reagan walked into the "There he goes again." trap with Mondale. Mondale and his team knew Reagan would roll that out again, and Mondale had his best (only good?) moment in the campaign during that debate. For a few seconds, it looked like it might be a race.

Castro is cleaning up on Twitter.  And yes, that matters.

If the candidates consider any of these people to be political consultants or experts in how to run a campaign I could beat any of them for any office.

And you are basing this on what exactly?

Warren is really fucking smart, and Trump is not at all. She'd destroy him, unfortunately much of our country is too dumb to recognize Trump being destroyed in a debate when it happens.

If she is so fucking smart why did she allow herself to do that stupid DNA test that is going to haunt her her entire campaign especially if she wins the Democrat nomination?

Let’s review what actually happened.

She directly answered the question.  Simple and short.

And then she went on to ADD how she plans to handle MCConnell.

Which ironically is Bernie Sanders approach to getting shit done.

Movement pressure from the outside among the people combined with internal pressure from the top.  She said the fight doesn’t end after the election, it keeps going.

Thanks for posting that. I didn't watch the "debate," but if that was her low point, she must have been stellar. I thought the answer was great. She remains my candidate.

Of course you don’t see it.  You’re team Bernie through and through.  Regardless of how much Warren goes up in the polls and Bernie falls, you will never abandon the Bernie dream.

Bernie can’t unify the Democratic Party, even if he wins the nomination, there’s just too much bad blood there from 2016 and it’s plainly visible.   It would be a different story if he won in 2016, but the opportunity has passed.

Reasonable people are going to see this more as he lashes out against other candidates.  This is a reality you refuse to accept.  However, I do admire your passion fighting to the death for the candidate you most believe in.  I will never knock you for that.

Lulz, so many ignored posts on the last couple of pages from one triggered Trumper and nobody is responding.   How sad, he is so upset!

The only thing I am upset about is that these are only two hours long.  They should go on like a Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon.  Not only is it much better entertainment than MSNBC's regular programming it gives them more shovels to keep digging that hole with.  Seventy percent of Americans like the economy and they spent the whole night acting like we are in the middle of The Great Depression.  Jack Torrance thinks these candidates are out of touch with reality.

Regardless of how long the debates are, they'll never be on a level playing field with the future opponent, who fully takes advantage of the fact that he has 24 hours 7 days a week to continue to dig himself into a hole of stupidity and ignorance.

My totally unscientific and biased preferences after last night's debate (in order - but subject to change):

1. Warren
2. Castro
3. Booker
4. Inslee
5. Klobuchar
6. O'Rourke
7. de Blasio
8. Delaney
9. Gabbard
10. Ryan

Right now, the process of elimination is the name of the game for me so that we can narrow it down to a manageable list. Castro and Booker both moved way up on my list, and I'm only keeping O'Rourke in the hunt right now because I'm biased toward keeping Texans on my list.

My current ranking for participants from tonight's debate:

1. Harris
2. Buttgieg
3. Sanders
4. Biden
5. Hickenlooper
6. Gillibrand
7. Bennet
8. Swalwell
9. Yang
10. Williamson

Only a slim majority of Americans think the economy is excellent or good (51%).  More fake news from the fake news spreader.

The main reason Americans think the economy is good is because they are constantly told it is good by corporate America and the Trump regime.   It’s a piss poor question and doesn’t accurately capture the public’s assessment on the economy.

The question should be, “Do you think the economy is working to improve the quality of life of most Americans?”

I’d love to see the response breakdown on that question.

You did the same thing in 2016. Nothing has changed in the economy.

This is all politics.

I think Warren did a good job of re-defining the question and answering it along the same parameters you put forth.   Maybe some pollsters will pick up on that.

Not a single Democrat, especially Elizabeth Warren, will be embarrassed when Trump continues to be too stupid to even pull of the Fauxcahontas insult correctly.

Regardless of how much Warren goes up in the polls ...

1) Bernie is beating Warren in the polls and has been forever (You can take Bernie's lowest point and Warren's highest and Bernie is STILL ahead of her)
2) If current poll numbers are an indicator of grassroots, mass movement momentum, then Joe Biden is the king of revolutionaries

It would be cool if your feelings were eternally hurt, because there actually very good conversations to be had about how to best utilize the players we have to get the things done we need to get done. Some players are the ones who bring the ball up the court. Some players are the ones who set the pick. Some players take the outside shots.

Warren and Sanders are the two best players on the Democratic team.

Sanders has the mass movement behind him, the young people, and he's the ideological leader of the party.
Warren has credibility with people who hate Bernie, a true heart for working people, and an absolutely vital tenacity to figure out solutions to real problems.

These are two absolutely vital figures if we care about actual, real progressive change.

You don't see that, unfortunately, because you fucking suck.

2) If you need convincing to vote for someone against Trump, please go fuck yourself. Try not to step over any dead asylum seekers on your way out the fucking door.

"bright red" wasn't about her being embarrassed, it's about her speaking style.  When she doubles down she totally intensifies her delivery.  Trump will be eyerolling, guffawing, WRONGing the whole time.  I personally think it's ridiculous, the electorate eats it up.

Then you are the first person in history to refer to a speaking style as "bright red".

Okay Meghan McCain.

It's not the Democrats' goal to make Republicans vote for them to win a Democratic primary.  In fact, appealing to Republicans to win the Democratic primary is a sure-fire losing strategy.

also, the contention that this country needs Rs to vote dem in the general is false, out of the gate.

so many have stopped identifying as republicans since trump's election. maybe we need "former 'pubs" but not current onboard type republicans who are going to vote trump in the privacy of the booth, no matter what they post on this forum. the intent is obvious from the constant defense of trump policies and the #bothsides.

it's a fucking joke.

How am I an "Onboard type republican" ?  That you make the comment that you don't need republicans to win is a huge part of the problem we have today. Us vs. them.   We're electing the president of the United States, not of the party.

You don't think it has anything to do with the way the stock market surged during trump's 1st 2 years or the still steadily falling unemployment rate? Especially when contrasted with the obama years, how can any objective person argue today's economy is bad? Yes there's a serious wealth gap that's steadily getting worse and yes it might all crash down tomorrow but how far back do you need to go to find a better US economy?

Probably pissed a lot of people off, but I was really happy to hear this morning that Warren seems to be shifting towards the idea that UHC is not sustainable with private insurance existing. I don't think she'd try to push as hard on this if she were elected, in comparison to Bernie, but she is at least pissing off a lot of these centrist lobbying groups that were throwing their support behind her.

The stockmarket pace and unemployment pace have both slowed during Trump's first two years compared to Obama.

that's rich coming from one of the consistently partisan members of this board.

republicans have cast their lot. they aren't voting dem.

this is your party:

Dj2e0w9VAAAraKs.jpg

and it's why more people are leaving the party than are joining it right now, and it's why nobody on the democratic side is going to try and woo republican voters. that's just simple madness. congress broke hard left in 2018. democrats would do best to try and continue that momentum rather than meander to the middle and try to bridge the partisan aisle, because republicans ain't playing that game. mcconnell and trump have made this the zero-sum game that it has become. they should've been more careful about what it is the were wishing. because shit is going to get real.

and that's coming from me, a guy who has tried to urge moderation over partisan extremism. but the republicans drove the car off the goddamned cliff, and here we are.
