Texas just struggled at net blocking all night.  Way too many soft hits on kill shots.  Except for White, bad night for Texas hitters.  Also poor night serving.

Surprised that O'Neal didn't play better...

Actually, Micaya was third best behind Logan and Brionne.  She wasn't very effective, really.

I thought White had most kills for Texas tonight??  Seemed like they were forcing too many sets her way though...

Unbelievably, we barely outhit Baylor.  Pressley had more than 3x the attacks of any other player for Baylor.

Sixteen friggin service errors, many at the worst possible time.

Baylor had 18 more digs too.

Next morning thoughts:

  • Serving cost us this game.  Both White serving the ball into the Brazos to lose the 2nd set and then Shook into the net to lose the 5th (not that we weren't already being demolished)
  • Baylor was just getting touches on everything tonight that went past or over their block in Austin.  Credit those adjustments.
  • It took way too long for our block to adjust to Pressley and she still got 31 kills.  But we made her fucking work for it.
  • Gabriel better spend an offseason with her middles because they her sets to the middle are still "meh." And Cabello isn't coming in to sit on the bench.
  • White trying to be too finesse led to way too many tips, soft shots over or trying to go line and hitting out.  Frustrating.
  • I feel like I haven't seen a Texas OH since Amy Neal actively try to tool the opposing block instead of just hitting over it.  I hope Parra will bring that skill level.
  • Losing in 5 on the road to Baylor - not the end of the world.  We most likely finish tied for the Big 12 crown (co-champs) but we would get the automatic bid based on sets won (Texas - 5; Baylor - 3)
  • Still do not see a realistic scenario, barring a meltdown by either Texas or Baylor, where the seeding isn't Baylor #1 and Texas #2.

White with an ice pack on left leg on the bench

She's been playing injured. After the TCU game, she had multiple ice packs on, including the quad as shown last night.

She's going to need some rest to heal, so we can make a run. Baylor brought their A-game.  We fought back being 0-2, this team has resilience.

We play Kansas on Saturday for senior night.  Ideally, she starts and maybe have Fields play outside and put Phillips or Orie on the right so she can rest.   Then we have a week off for the holiday before @ ISU.  Then 6 days off until NCAA rounds 1 and 2.  Should be some good time for rest.

Goddammit.

25-22 KU on Micayas OOB hit.

I missed some of it, but I think Sunderland said that against Baylor, between service errors and hits OOB, we gave Baylor 30 points.

Very believable
